The Syclone and Typhoon were the previous generation truck. Revell makes an excellent Syclone kit in 1/25. I'd like to have a Typhoon kit too or at least a conversion body. One was done years ago when the Revell kit was new but I don't know of any being made right now. BTW, I could have bought this one for a great price about 15 years ago but had just bought a house so it wasn't in the cards. Only 228 built in black with grey lower panels. [should have bought it anyway. π] [the front fender markers are there because it spent some time in Japan and needed them to be legal there]

I'm with Muncie, save it as is and just get a new one. " I was a young child when I built this so it isn't the best. I am attached to this model as it was one of my first. " If you redo it, it'll not be the same. Keep it as you remember it. You may regret not keeping it.

There's a couple things I want to improve on before I repaint the truck. First is the box. The back wall wasn't exactly flat where it meets the bed. Note the "step" on the right and how it thickens out on the left. So I filed it flat. This box is from another kit but it's identical to the first one. The other issue is while this box, from one of the '84 GMCs mates up well to the newer cabs, it's a touch wide at the top and narrow at the bottom when up against the older '78 cab. While I did file it a bit at the top edges before I painted it the first time, it's still off a bit. So a quick cut down the inside corner on both sides will remedy that. I cut down about 1/2 way with a regular X-acto saw blade, pulled the top so the cuts closed and glued them with lacquer thinner. This way it not only brought the top of the box in flush with cab but also spread the bottom slightly so it now also matches. That was the first mod I wanted to make before the re-paint. There's another mod and a couple additions I want to do so me screwing up the first paintjob will have a silver lining.

Harry, Ray's Kits Decals do make a set of those if you want to go that route.

There were a few "issues" I noticed after I started painting but just ignored as I was done the bodywork and really wanted to see it in paint. BUT, since I'm now repainting I'll be making some adjustments and additions before repainting. It will be better when I'm done then it was the first time around. I got pretty lucky as most of the trim I added stayed put. I'll easily fix that and replace a couple sections that didn't come off but didn't turn out as well as the rest. More on those later but for now here's a couple pics "in the nude", as it were. π

Yea, something going on there for sure. That's definitely a pic of the tubbed chassis but the leaf spring rear end. The tubbed chassis uses a narrowed rear with coil-overs.

Looks fantastic. I really didn't think the color combo would work but you really brought it all together when finished. πππ

Does anyone offer these wheels in 1/24 or 1/25?

I was thinking they looked very "Mercedes", Les. I'd love to build a lowered G-Wagon with those wheels. π -

These look pretty close Monty. Don't know if they're close enough though. Problem is this pic is from an NNL 15 years ago so no idea where they came from , , but at least you know there's something out there. -
We see "nothing I want" posts in these threads all the time, why is it different now?

Well, they certainly ain't in Kansas anymore, Toto. π

Um, OK, I've never been to either L.A. or Vegas but isn't that the Vegas Strip, not the Sunset Strip?π€¨ But, anyway, nothing there I don't already have but it would have been nice to see the new decals in the '53 Ford pickup , , and they didn't mention the mini-tubbed bed in the Elky , , Again. π

Superglue just sits on the surface, doesn't burn into the plastic like solvent based glues do. You should easily be able to wet sand with fine grit and polish it out like new with some some polishing compound. A polishing kit will make short work if it if you have one. I've done this on more occasions then I'd care to admit. I've even polishing the glue off while the glass in still in the body. π

I wet sanded the clear getting ready for a second coat. Was making a mold of the bumpers earlier so I could cast a few sets for myself and I must have contaminated my hands with mold release and didn't get it all of and transferred it to the sand paper. That's my best guess anyway, that's what it looked like when I sprayed the second coat of clear.

Probably could save it but do you really want to put that much effort into something as common as dirt? I'd just get a fresh kit.
