  1. DUDE!!..... This is fantastic! Great work!
  2. Oh yeah! Please post some info on that when you get a chance! The chemicals involved and space in my workshop are the main reasons I haven't already invested in the micro-mark system.... Thanks David! Totally lost track of time last night whittling and layering styrene... looked down and it was about 2 hours later than i realized..haha... oops... one of my favorite parts of this hobby is getting so involved in something you kinda let everything else go for a few hours... Managed to get the center portion layered, and the first cross members installed.... still a lot of cleanup but its starting to look like a frame! The orings/airbags seem sized correctly.. oh and it fits the body! woohooo
  3. I like it! Straight out of the 70's! Nice work Jim!
  4. That is awesome David! So cool to see someone else doing this! And the tab idea is a great one, im going to file that away. Im pretty sure this technique will work for photo-etched stuff too, which i want to get into.. eventually. Im still playing out the bike design in my head... but thinking something inspired by this boardtracker style custom.. Made some progress last night... frame rails out.. and layed up Then I was able to attach the frame rails to the main chassis plate.... now i will stack up cut pieces of .020 on the sides, the center and then the front and back.... those little notches i added in the bottom of the frame rails are .020 high so the cross members will all lay flat and hopefully look like a fully welded assembly once filled.
  5. Thanks guys! I managed to get the basic chassis programed and cut over the weekend. Now the fun part of getting all of the pieces cut out the rest of the way. Since I used .020 and my cutter only scores at that thickness, I have to go back and trace each path with a sharp xacto knife... these parts are all a bit to delicate to just snap out as normal. Here is where i ended up on the cutting paths, planing on layering up the .020 frame rails to create a .100 x .100 "tube" frame. I added some positive location points on the rails, so i can make sure I keep everything straight and square.... this will make more sense later... I promise. and here is the second sheet of frame reinforcement parts... this will also make more sense later. and cut!
  6. So i was able to patch up this project log a bit... think we should have pictures again. Ive made some small progress on the bronco, first off i decided to get the body mounts all sorted. This was pretty easy using the chassis pans from the 2 bronco kits I cannibalized. I also chopped the windshield frame up and attached it. Once that was all done I was able to go over to my low-tech... low dollar 3d scanner.... well its just a 2d scanner.... but i scanned the bronco body in as a side and bottom view at full size Then it was easy to scan in all the other pieces to make a frame "jig" and get started designing the frame digitally in adobe illustrator. Current progress on the frame design:
  7. Fixed! Now to try and patch up that build log...
  8. Copied from another forum.... but seems true... and scary.... i hope this is not the case. "oh i've known about it for years. there is unseen consequences yet to come but people will figure out how big a nuke was dropped on the internet soon. i run numerous websites, and forums, i'm also admin and moderator on a few others. for a few years we have seen traffic of forum users going to facebook groups or google+ groups. by losing photobucket for easy hosting of photos they effectively just nuked Forums like this out of existence. Google stopped allowing 3rd party hotlinking a few months ago. i have gone through photobucket ruining my accounts and albums for years now, each time i have to start all over again. at this point it would be months of me relinking dead photos in 10000000s of threads i have made. that is not going to happen this time. in the short term people are scrambling to go to other free host services. this will quickly overload them and start a cascade effect of them switching to pay sites. that leaves social media as the main load holder. thus it is easier for the entire user group to flip over to facebook in even greater numbers then before. daily content will drop off even more then usual. there will be no reliable free hoster of images and the entire thing will grind to a halt. we have all seen the massive drop in user content over the last few years on all forums, now it will accelerate. ---- little history... before photobucket i hosted images on my own server. in a short amount of time, 3rd party hotlinking nuked my server and bandwidth and i had to shut down 3rd party linking just like photobucket. i then had to switch to photobucket which i never liked and have had all my stuff nuked numerous times over the years as evidence of all my dead photo links. so at this point I'm not moving on with any free hosting sites because they will all eventually turn into photobucket just like anglefire, geocities BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH storms, i refuse to go on social media, so i have no choice but to use my self contained Website where i have to keep 3rd party hotlinking turned off to survive there is no way i'm going to start Url linking on this forum to another website to show off my stuff. so basically i'm done, and many others are also. you should see the Firearms forums going down in flames the last 2 days. and so expect to see these forums all over turn into ghost towns the next week or 2 and then poof."
  9. This last paragraph of this sums it up.... https://www.pcmag.com/news/354711/photobucket-breaks-image-links-across-the-internet If this is real... the shoot for the moon price is just a royal goof up... I would pay 20-30 a year to not have to rebuild project logs as im sure many others will.... not many are going to pay 400.00... I'm fairly confident they would have made more money at a lower price point.
  10. I feel like this could be a hack... maybe? If you go to their blogs, and social media there is no mention of it... and the email came from funky address... I hope so because all my project logs will be gonzo... and i dont know if i have the drive to rebuild them and make them stronger....
  11. Not the most exciting update here... but I'm sourcing all the bits out of my parts boxes to start on the frame design. The Front A-arms and spindles are from a viper kit, the rear end is from the bronco, the engine is the flathead from the 48 ford custom, and the auto trans is from the small block in revell 1932 5window kit. the manual trans just didn't seem right, so a little slice and dice the flathead has an auto.
  12. man... NICE work! as usual... but still... wowza! Oh and joe and tim..not that you asked me....but...lol Ive had good luck with the SuperGold BSi glue... its nonfogging... so no worries about the white haze.. I use it for almost everything after paint. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FWZNQ1M/ref=asc_df_B01FWZNQ1M5042044/?tag=hyprod-20&creative=394997&creativeASIN=B01FWZNQ1M&linkCode=df0&hvadid=193123831391&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8787764003510118458&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9015384&hvtargid=pla-3097064111055
  13. Thank you guys! Messed around with the bumpers a bit more last night... the front is pretty much there, the rear needs some more massaging but seems close. Probably going to work on the windshield frame angle and chop next. (its just sitting there in these pics)
  14. Thanks guys! i am having fun with this one... slow progress but fun! Just a little one Luke.... I managed to cut out the inner fenders and make some wide whites fit. just in case anyone was wondering (lol) you can take 1/4inch out of the foose FD-100 Grille and it fits the bronco like a glove! Now i have to figure out what to do with this foose truck without a grille, guess that will be a future project..haha.. I think im going to use this old amt 1958 impala front bumper.. it seems to have just the right amount of character and wrap around. just needs some reshaping and to be a bit narrower.
  15. Thanks guys!!! im not getting much done on this... so updates will be sporadic... but oh well its spring/summer. Im going to just make my own new frame from styrene rod and square tube... Ive been wanting to make something with cantilevered airbag suspension, so i figured this might as well be the one... I want to try and keep the interior somewhat skeletal on each side of the bike, so you can see the rear suspension. I need to cut the inner fender wells out of the front, then make body mounts.. then i can start working on the frame design.
  16. Thanks guys! its going to be a fun one.. Yeah.. the plan is to scratchbuild the bike.. my current plan is to use a hopped up ModelA Flathead 4cyl in the bike, and Flathead v8 in the bronco... subject to change, but seems like it could be fun. Thanks Rob! I agree the skirts aren't 100% there yet.. Im still going to add some trim and some other detail to them. My inspiration was from the old cruiser skirts which mostly share the same basic shape as the bronco rear wheel lip. softening the edge a bit more, adding some trim and rock gaurds should make them look really close to these: (its also getting a wrap around bumper and continental kit) Here is a bit of progress from the weekend.. although not a ton... I did get the tailgate fitted and blended. The center cutout will be for the bike to roll up, the continental kit will fold down to make the bike ramp and fill that area up visually.
  17. Awesome work as usual Clay! Nice to see you posting here! Tim, Chris and your brass-work make me almost want to give it a whirl myself.... almost... haha
  18. We decided to do a same kit build this year in our club (NorthCoast Auto Modelers) and everyone picked the bronco as the kit. For some reason, the low rear wheelwells on the early broncos make me think of 50s customs. I decided to fully embrace this, and make a bronco convertible lead sled. Here is a somewhat crude photoshop of whats going on in my head on this one (not the color and patina.. actually thinking a baremetal body). So first things first it needed to be a bit longer. so i had to buy 2 kits... and combine them. Added about 5/8"behind the door opening... and about 1/4" to the door to get the proportions all to work. then i needed to tackle the angle back... so i used the front fenders from the scrap body. After some sanding and some fenderskirts this is how it looks now: working on finishing off the slantback with the extra hood... hopefully that happens tonight.
  19. I've been watching intently... awesome work all over! Thank you for sharing!
  20. New Pricing on these... thanks to shapeways lowering the prices.. we are at 6.00 and 7.00 for the 2 options.. I have ordered both.. and they look close to the same to me... so I would save the dollar and go with the 6.00 frosted ultra detail. https://www.shapeways.com/product/D88VAJFSF/woodlight-inspired-headlights-1-24-1-25-scale?optionId=61690608&li=shop-inventory The marked red is the 6.00 option.. clear is the 7.00.. Straight out the bag.. no cleanup They look great with some alclad chrome on them
  21. had a great trade with prostreeter69 off the "pay it forward" thread!

  23. nice clean work! love it!
  24. A little photoshop fun
  25. Also without a preview post button.. and not being able to edit... no way to fix buggered up html on photos if i mess that up...which i seem to do more often than not. Not complaining... do what you need to do to get rid of the the rif-raf... but eventually I would like to see the return of the edit button.. Thank you!
