  1. I just bought this kit and am going to share my thoughts on it. It is a re release of a 30 year old kit, so there will be no pointing out inaccuracies like saying its a Laguna, not a Chevelle.... All Lagunas were Chevelles, but not all Chevelles were Lagunas. Get it? The kit is molded in blue and black, and very nicely also. Flash is minimal and the blue body could be buffed and look as good as paint. The body is clean and straight with no twist or warpage. There is a minor sink mark only on the drivers side front fender, but is so minimal, could be wet sanded out. The proportions and overall shape look good, but the roof looks a bit low. Then again, it is a race car. The chassis is in an interesting piece since it is two pieces. Where the chassis is joined together, there are 2 pins on the front section, but 3 holes on the rear. I believe this was done to change the wheelbase for other bodies. Pretty good thinking on MPC's part in the day. The rear suspension is leaf springs which would be incorrect for this car and era. The front suspension is a Ford design. The entire chassis is pretty basic, but then again, in those days they were not overly technical like today. I does represent an older Nascar set up though. The interior is pretty sparse and basic, just like the cars of the day. The dash could use better detail, but with some detailing would be very acceptable. The wheels and tires consist of a set of 10 hole Nascar style wheels, but are definitely not deep enough. The tires are the smaller style Good Year Blue Streek Stock Car Specials. These are also not quite large enough. The engine is a very unique piece. Lil bit of Ford and Chevy. The starter is on the right side, oil pan sump in the rear, distributor in the front, water neck on right side, water pump inlet on left side, generic cylinder heads and BBC valve covers (2 sets) Round 2 has retooled the cage and window net to make the net separate, but have also included the original pieces. Decals are very nice, so nice that I believe this will be a box build. My overall thought on this kit is: I really like it, yea, not perfect but I am sure it will build up nicely. I will probably source out wheels, tires, and engine from a newer AMT Nascar kit and maybe a dash from a Monogram, but that's it. I am sure the coil suspension from the AMT kit could be retrofitted to the older chassis also. I am looking forward to building this in the near future and I recommend it to anybody that likes stock car builds. (I will try to post some pics soon)
  2. My favorites: 66 Country Squire, 72 Ranchero, 71 Mustang, and the 73 Falcon Coupe
  3. trim the bumper sides. A lot of guys did that for tire clearance in the event of a collision. They also did tube bumpers.
  4. Dominik, I like the way you used the black to depict the window seals. Nice touch for realism. Nice build!
  5. The AMT kit is very nice after some patience. The body line on the top of the front fender needs work because that was where the mold separation was. I usually sand it down and use half round styrene to replace it. The Revell looks okay to me, but I have not tackled the body inaccuracies yet.
  6. The hoarders will be upset...... SUPER RARE AMT FLAMEOUT SHOW ROD KIT #T378-225 Item condition: Used Ended: Jun 06, 2015 Winning bid: US $129.49
  7. I want a few.... I think a nice Pro Mod Fusion would be cool, or a cool pro touring car. At least the stock car looks like a 2 door.
  8. They look pretty nice. Did you modify the bumpers on the blue cars yourself? I like them much better without the optional ends. This is one of those kits that I did not notice the flaws on, but now I see them, they bother me a little, but I still have a few in my stash.
  9. Love those kits
  10. I saw an early model (round headlight) Chevette on the road today. saw a K Car last week too
  11. I had my reservations on this at first........... but WOW it is so cool. I was hoping for a casket in it. Love the door knob trim inside
  12. Very cool... i have one stalled i need to get on
  13. Really liking this build. Love these old kits
  14. Very sharp looking. Love the colors and FE. Happen to have the rear quarter trim still? In need of the front angled piece (attached to the spear)
  15. Coolest Mustang EVER
  16. AMT 1967 Galaxie AMT 1962 Galaxie any 72-75 Vega's any 71-79 Pinto's MPC 66 Monaco 500
  17. Okay... Where is it at? Anticipation is killing me
  18. I just saw this thread and went thru every page. Wow freaking WOW..... The bar is raised so high I cannot even see it. Anyone wanna buy some kits? I may just hang it up after seeing this masterpiece of art.
  19. Anyone have pics of the parts in the R2 release? Dang, I did not know it was different than the others. Is there a top for a hardtop?
  20. Give them time.... we are seeing some repaired tools. Many not seen in years. When it comes to building, I prefer these over many of the "New" releases cuz it seems some just cant get the bodies right. Most of the AMT and MPC bodies are very accurate, and I am good with that.
  21. yay............. sbc for the "trading box"
  22. The center of the roof at the "B" pillar is chopped less than the front or back of the roof. The roof is too "flat" looking and the V in the windshield, cowl and hood are almost non-existent. The body sides are very flat, rocker panels are squared off along with the bottom of the rear quarters, the hood has an odd shape where the compound curve goes from the side to the front. Body is pretty thick too. Just a poor example of a great car. Have seen some nice builds, but the body issues just jump out to me personally and far too much work to fix. That is my view of the car, I hope it does not start a big pissing match like my detailed critique of the Revell 57 Ford Custom. This is an AMT, used the 1/4 windows from the Revell body (best part of the body, LOL) I have about 2 hours of work into it.
