  1. One of the Tom Daniels kits (I believe it was called the Rattler) had a Pontiac OHV straight 6. The MPC Firebird had one also. MPC Pintos had 2.3 4 cylinders. The Mustang II (AMT and MPC) had 2.8 V6's along with the Ranger kits with 2.9's. Do not leave out the AMT 51 and 37 Chevies with their Stovebolts. AMT had a 6 cylinder in their 76 Pacer. AMT 41 Plymouth has a flathead 6.
  2. I may need one. Thanks for the info.
  3. Kevin, Check BillyGooche on the bay. She reproduces a lot of vintage decals.
  4. The kit is not based on any real car, therefor, do what you please. Great color, not the normal red many are built with. Now you need the old 65 Galaxie decals, "Jolly Green Gasser"
  5. No, it is rear wheel drive. Just the wheels the builder used probably.
  6. Two and four door sedans in the Fairlane series had a wrap around rear window
  7. I'm following also! Great looking build. As an FYI if you want to go a step further, the Galaxie line was offered in a 2 door sedan. The Custom series had a different roof line though.
  8. I'll take both!!! The turbine can be a curbside, I want to build this!!!!
  9. What ever you want the color to be. Dark blue would be my suggestion with silver (aluminum) heads
  10. I am corrected, 40 years. My math was off, or I am senile. As for stock, yes, with a lot of scratch work. someone did one that is supposed to be offered in Resin.
  11. I just bought this kit and am going to share my thoughts on it. It is a re release of a 30 year old kit, so there will be no pointing out inaccuracies like saying its a Laguna, not a Chevelle.... All Lagunas were Chevelles, but not all Chevelles were Lagunas. Get it? The kit is molded in blue and black, and very nicely also. Flash is minimal and the blue body could be buffed and look as good as paint. The body is clean and straight with no twist or warpage. There is a minor sink mark only on the drivers side front fender, but is so minimal, could be wet sanded out. The proportions and overall shape look good, but the roof looks a bit low. Then again, it is a race car. The chassis is in an interesting piece since it is two pieces. Where the chassis is joined together, there are 2 pins on the front section, but 3 holes on the rear. I believe this was done to change the wheelbase for other bodies. Pretty good thinking on MPC's part in the day. The rear suspension is leaf springs which would be incorrect for this car and era. The front suspension is a Ford design. The entire chassis is pretty basic, but then again, in those days they were not overly technical like today. I does represent an older Nascar set up though. The interior is pretty sparse and basic, just like the cars of the day. The dash could use better detail, but with some detailing would be very acceptable. The wheels and tires consist of a set of 10 hole Nascar style wheels, but are definitely not deep enough. The tires are the smaller style Good Year Blue Streek Stock Car Specials. These are also not quite large enough. The engine is a very unique piece. Lil bit of Ford and Chevy. The starter is on the right side, oil pan sump in the rear, distributor in the front, water neck on right side, water pump inlet on left side, generic cylinder heads and BBC valve covers (2 sets) Round 2 has retooled the cage and window net to make the net separate, but have also included the original pieces. Decals are very nice, so nice that I believe this will be a box build. My overall thought on this kit is: I really like it, yea, not perfect but I am sure it will build up nicely. I will probably source out wheels, tires, and engine from a newer AMT Nascar kit and maybe a dash from a Monogram, but that's it. I am sure the coil suspension from the AMT kit could be retrofitted to the older chassis also. I am looking forward to building this in the near future and I recommend it to anybody that likes stock car builds. (I will try to post some pics soon)
  12. My favorites: 66 Country Squire, 72 Ranchero, 71 Mustang, and the 73 Falcon Coupe
  13. trim the bumper sides. A lot of guys did that for tire clearance in the event of a collision. They also did tube bumpers.
  14. Dominik, I like the way you used the black to depict the window seals. Nice touch for realism. Nice build!
  15. The AMT kit is very nice after some patience. The body line on the top of the front fender needs work because that was where the mold separation was. I usually sand it down and use half round styrene to replace it. The Revell looks okay to me, but I have not tackled the body inaccuracies yet.
  16. The hoarders will be upset...... SUPER RARE AMT FLAMEOUT SHOW ROD KIT #T378-225 Item condition: Used Ended: Jun 06, 2015 Winning bid: US $129.49
  17. I want a few.... I think a nice Pro Mod Fusion would be cool, or a cool pro touring car. At least the stock car looks like a 2 door.
  18. They look pretty nice. Did you modify the bumpers on the blue cars yourself? I like them much better without the optional ends. This is one of those kits that I did not notice the flaws on, but now I see them, they bother me a little, but I still have a few in my stash.
  19. I saw an early model (round headlight) Chevette on the road today. saw a K Car last week too
  20. I had my reservations on this at first........... but WOW it is so cool. I was hoping for a casket in it. Love the door knob trim inside
  21. Very cool... i have one stalled i need to get on
  22. Really liking this build. Love these old kits
  23. Very sharp looking. Love the colors and FE. Happen to have the rear quarter trim still? In need of the front angled piece (attached to the spear)
