Cool little car. I keep wanting one of these kits and your build shows it can be done well.

BINGO!!! I found the Wildcat kit in my stash and the plate was missing. Thank You!!!!

UGH...... I hate when that happens... did it many many times. Keep with it.

I like it, the paint looks good with all that flake, but agree with espo on the wheels. Is there a different chassis under it to get it so low? A little FYI, the distributor on that engine would be in the front, not the rear

Great blend of old and new.

Cool, someone else messing with one of these MPC kits.

While I wait for the paint to cure on my Parts Box Charger build, I decided to wrap this one up. Just another fun build Saturday night special. I like taking "not so popular" kits that can usually be found cheap and just enjoying a build. Not over detailed, no striving to be perfect, just a fun build. Just a Dukes Charger stock car. Cut out the rear seat and made a floor. Replaced the Hemi with a wedge engine from the 78 Monaco, added some wires and a better radiator. AMT Nascar wheels and tires. Misc. decals. I may go back and add shocks to the rear, but it looks fine on the shelf. I displayed it with a few other "fun" builds.

Well, I worked out the flaws, got another coat of paint on the Charger and it laid down beautifully, but..... always a but. One bad spot showed its ugly face. Not sure how to deal with it at this time. Gonna let it sit in a case for about a month since it is enamel, then maybe wet sand and polish. Thinking maybe after wet sanding, dabbing paint in the bad spot with a brush and wet sand. Hate to have to do anything since the paint is so smooth.

Looks good in red and the seats and belts look great IMO. Love the paint detailing. Did you do anything with the roll bar? in the box art it looks way too low.
-
For as old as the kit is, problems and inaccuracies can be expected, that being said, you did a wonderful job on it. I am sure your dad will love it. I do.

Tragedy averted..... after having to re-do the body work, I laid some new paint on the Charger. Paint laid down nice. Gonna let it sit a few days because there are a few minor flaws that some wet sanding and touch up should take care of. As can be seen, the tail light panel is gone. Replacing with a Revell panel.

Be great to have these again....... I had both... as a kid. Side pipes are in a parts box, the rest is MIA

Darn, I should have started with the incorrect 69 before I chopped the top on my MPC..... LOL -
Looks great!!! I have a hardtop in the condition of your "before" pics. Maybe I should do something with it
