I started a build thread on this, and it stalled Well eneded up with a paint issue on the hood, then when fitting I found the hood would not close because of the air cleaners. Ended up sanding the middle of the hood almost paper thin. Then the rear wheels would not fit under the car, so mods needed to be made. Nothing fancy, not even wires. The decals dual quads, wheels tires and exhaust tips are the only thing not out of the box. Ohh, and the rear window film. Looks good on the shelf, so I am happy with it.

Same here... I do not like the format -
Was searching Ollies and came home with a Crown Vic. Not a big deal, but you got the kit and a case for $9.99.... and I could not resist the decal set in it, Hamburg Park Asylum Security... LOL. it was a must have after I saw that!

Hobby Lobby Summer 19 clearance
Sledsel replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
With a little work, that builds into a decent looking kit. I know many old kits need some recatangular strips added for "rocker panels" and it helps a lot with fitting. Here is a 75 Dodge Dart I have done this to. Seems a lot of the MPC based kits are benifited with this modification. Many MPC based kits also need some rear mounting points, pictured is the same 75 Dart kit. Worst case, a great Saturday night stock car. I have only ever found one kit I could not do something with to make me happy with it. -
Got 2 bodies from J and J resin today. AMT chopped 40 Ford. Darn thing looks like a kit body. Not thick like many I have seen. Chopped, door handles, trim and hinges remain, corrected windshield opening. Great casting for sure. Heck, would not even need paint! Two thumbs up

What you are doing is 100% correct. Once the body is together, it is just a normal bild. Do alot ot test fitting along the way. I built this one years ago. Needs a rebuild since the top assembly has come apart. For once, I used too little glue. BTW, 55 Fords do not use any similar chassis components. The AMT 58 Edsel or 60 Starliner would be a correct chassis

Looks good to me. These old work horses were worked and never perfect... well, maybe when new.

Long wheelbase trucks
Sledsel replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the input. I was kinda leaning towards the new Mobius spread axle flatbed. -
Love the color. This is gonna be sharp.

In what scenario would a long wheelbase truck be used or desired? Starting a new build and am extending the wheelbase and wish to incorporate an appropriate trailer. Thanks

Ouch! Sad sight indeed, but hopefully some salvaging can come of it all. Good Luck! -

Wow... that is super sharp! -
Well this is my first big rig build although I started another kit first, but was in over my head (the first "started" is a Freightliner SD/DD). Well, had this I found at a flea market and decided to use it as a warm up. Just a simple mostly box build Revell Kenworth W900 snap kit. Color is Krylon Shimmer Black Cherry with kit decals. I did move the front marker lights to their correct locations, filled the snap points at the rear of the sleeper by making the mount tabs shallower, BMF on the rear fenders, used some leftover pieces of window tint on the sleeper glass and smoothed the seams in the fuel tanks. Really happy with it, just have a few touch ups and some small decal details to add. Now to move back to the SD/DD...... I must add a big thanks to gotnitro for supplying my missing horn and drinkone2 for replacing my damaged decals.

Welcome and very very nice. I looked at your others and they are equally as nice, but the little bit of rust on this build caught my eye. Good job

I like it........... A lot! Perfect 70's vibe emitting from it.

Yea, the kit ones have the right look, but always seemed narrow to me. JMO

Don't use the valve covers that come with the Revell, they look like SBC covers and not tall enough. Other than that it is a nice engine. B&L Resin makes some nice FE covers. They can also be found in the Revell Thunderbolt and the original issue AMT 64 Galaxie
