Man thats pretty slick looking. I like how you used the rally rims from the Revell 67 chevelle and even the alligator on the package tray from the old AMT 57 chevy..Love the dark green. the turn signal bullets are a novel idea. were they the clear bullets from the old AMT 57 Ford?? The grille looks more like the one used in the old Revell 54 chevy kit though. the 49-52 was different.. Awesome work..This build makes me want to dig out one of my gluebomb 57 monogram kits and rebuild it similar in this style.. I've been stuck with builders block lately and haven't worked on anything in the last month..I need a quick build to get me back in the groove..

Here is one I built a couple years ago.

Ok I think I know what you mean. I've never built this kit. But I have built/ worked on the real 1:1 cars. So you're saying the taillight housing sections are molded on with the trunk lip panel as one piece off the chrome parts tree? I assume that has to do with the chrome trim thats on that trunk panel and why they engineered the part that way.... Ohh and don't worry on the way the doors open. You did a great job on how you got the doors to open. especially for a first attempt. its not an easy task to get them nice and straight like you did it. Its definately more difficult, if not impossible, to hinge them in a way to make the doors dive in in the front edge like on the real cars..
-
Excellent work and craftsmanship. But I do have to question why you opened up the trunk like you did and cut the trunk lid rear lip in half and made a tail panel out of the lower half.. On the real 64-65 chevelles, there was no tail panel between the tailights like you have. The trunk lid rear lip went all the way to the bumper. Is your build supposed to be a custom? I just had to know as my eyes are constantly drawn to that area.

Nice color choice.

I was wondering if you was going to get back on this one. I actually saw a model of this movie car for sale on ebay a week ago..Built from the old AMT 57 chevy..wasn't bad looking either. Look forward to seeing your progress. -
Thanks guys. The drag strip display was built and given to me by a good friend. A lot of times , I'll put a driver in my cars. After setting up for the pics, I kinda' wish I did for this one. Tempted to take it apart and do that...

Some shots of the interior, chassis and engine.

Thanks for the comments guys. I kinda' dragged on the progress towards the end but I finally got it done! Here is the finished Galaxie. Enjoy.

Looks great. wonderful job.

Great trades this week with Rust-in-Dust and Disabled Modeler.

Excellent work. I love builds like this..

I dig this kind of build! Very well done. Excellent work.

Well I would post pics, but then you guys would know what it will look like before its finished..

I have to cast and make my own. I tend to build gasser and super stock type drag cars and each interior is different. I cast all the body parts separate and modify / position them when assembling according to the car. Last I knew of , Slixx used to carry a resin driver figure with a couple different heads to use.
-
Thanks guys. Worked on it some more today. The body is pretty much all together now. Had some difficulty with the rear tail light bezel panel and lenses. They didn't want to go in. I really need to work on the engine. But I have to be in the right kind of mood to run the plug wires on them. As is sits now, it looks like a car in the middle of an engine swap with the hood, radiator and grille removed..

Thanks JC , aka Afx, Great trader. Also add in Slusher, Mod3Lover and '70Grande as great guys to trade with

Man, I think this looks like a pretty darn cool kit. I would buy it. Especially if it has all the RIGHT parts so I won't have to go kit bashing and sourcing pieces from elsewhere spending more money to build it up correct. Looks like it does..I hope it gets made available soon and we won't have to wait forever like on the Starsky and Hutch Torino. But as far as the body inaccuracies everyone has pointed out, I hope they are corrected before production. I have owned a real 30-31 Ford A myself and I see everyones point. What gets me is how such inaccuracies even make it to the test shot / prototype phase. If they went through THAT much work to get it this far, how much more effort would it have taken to get it correct?? This is the early 21 century and I fail to see how technology of the past, when tooling up a kit, was able to the job done better than it is done today. You would think it would be a piece of cake today considering the tech tools available now. I would like to know what their main reference vehicle was. Maybe it was incorrect to start with and those flaws were just duplicated by the kit engineers who just wern't knowledgeable on the subject car to notice right off....
-
I agree. I just don't see these style one off kits doing well. Particularly in the future..Those Testors kits are a good example...The Coddington / Foose look has pretty much run its course. For me, if its over hyped and promoted too heavily as the newest coolest thing since sliced bread, I'll tend to be equally repelled and completely ignore it to the point its no longer a blip on my radar. I would suggest to them they need to be staying with the current trends such as pro touring, stock bodied cars with modern engines, like an GM LS series, and modern updated suspension systems and updated comfortable interiors. What kit other than a camaro, firebird or vette has a LS engine in it? They need to take their current tooling and update a lot of their older kits with newer style parts to fit the current trends and aftermarket parts avalibility in the real 1:1 world... And limiting it to those ugly big wheels don't count.

nice save! Excellent work. Never used "blue magic" to strip one down with. Might have to try that. Your garage diorama display is awesome too. -
Thanks guys. a lot of it is in paint now. Waiting on things to dry while being distracted by other projects. Several small details to do now.. Hopefully I'll get this together soon.

Chevy 292 L6 inline 6 custom motor WIP

The Trumpeter 63 Nova kit has an excellent 194/ 230 inline 6. -
Very nice work. Red plastic is difficult to paint white. Bleed through is tough to prevent and seal off. Priming helps but the best method I've used is to base coat the bare plastic in Testors silver before primer. I have one of these kits and thankfully it is not molded in red. However, one detail this kit has wrong it the single 4 barrel carb. In the movie, Christine is equipped with the dual carb option. easily fixed though..
