  1. Thanks ! Great photo of that DynaCell -- hard to tell exactly what color that housing is.
  2. Hi -- I'm assuming you are using KJ's 2-hole drive wheels ? I'm working on a project with them -- my first time with resin wheels. Can I ask how you attached them ? With the older AMT kits, that metal rod they use with the kit hubs is about half the diameter of the axle housings, so there is a ton of slop. Plus, its way smaller than the hole in the Double Take hub. Thanks for the help.
  3. What color paint did you use for the IH V800 engine blue ? Thanks!
  4. WOW nice. What did you use to paint the Double Take grille ?
  5. I was over in the UK the summer before last, and it's amazing that the trucks on the road there are almost 100% cabovers, while here in the US they are extinct.
  6. Awesome !!! Credit card is ready ! :-)
  7. I just noticed in the current issue of Scale Auto that they used Tamiya "racing white" on the Ford pickup and it does look like it would work well. Thanks.
  8. Hi all -- I was wondering if anyone has any tips for paint color for the "ivory white" color of the older steering wheels ? I don't want to paint it the "bright" stark white. Most of the photos of the '70s cabovers show a more "off white" or "ivory" white color. Thanks !
  9. Where did you find it at ? I've checked a few stores around me and they have the other metallic colors, but not the aluminum. Thanks
  10. Super nice ! Can I ask what color paint you used for the interior of the Freightliner cabover ?
  11. I second that -- have had fantastic service from KJ !
  12. Thank you ! Did you use a gray or a white primer under the Humbrol 63 ? Regards, Jeff
  13. Thanks ! Do you also do the thing where you spray clear coat over the tape to seal it ? Or do you find you don't need that with the Tamiya tape ? Do you pull the tape up immediately after spraying, or wait until it dries ? Thanks again; Jeff
  14. First one was a AMT Peterbilt 352 Pacemaker cabover. Built it right out of the box in white plastic.
  15. So... you mixed 3 colors to do the wheels ?? Sorry... you'll have to forgive us novices. Thanks
  16. Thanks -- could you post a picture of the paint tube you used ? I'd love to try this. It looks super.
  17. Hi all -- I was just talking to a guy at the hobby shop today about getting my first air brush. That picture at the top of this post is pretty much the reason I've stayed with rattle cans for 25 years. I know -- wrong reason. But I've seen so many models painted with an air brush that either look like a dry sandy finish or the orange peel that I figured "man, it must be really really hard to use an air brush". So... I'm thinking about getting one now because some of what I want to paint with isn't available in rattle cans. Is the Paasche "H" a good one for a first-timer ? Or is there a better choice ? I need one that is easy to use, and that it will be easy for me to lay down those nice wet smooth finishes. Thx
  18. So -- with the "kit chrome with artist oil over top to make them look more aluminumish " -- What is "artist oil" ? and is that sprayed or brushed on ? Thanks
  19. Awesome. Thanks ! The stuff dries fast and always gives a consistent finish.
  20. But -- as the name of it says "buffing" -- do you need to actually buff it out after spraying? That can be a real trick on small parts. Thanks
  21. That's the "metalizer" stuff that you need to buff, though -- right ? Thanks
  22. NICE! I'm actually in the middle of building the "Pabst" Freightliner. Do you happen to remember which blue paint you used ? Thanks!
  23. Hi -- I've started building models again after a 23-year "break" ;-) In the past, for aluminum parts I always used Krylon #1403 "dull aluminum" for any aluminum engine parts, etc. However, I can't seem to find that same can anymore. What is the "go to" aluminum paint that you guys like ? Thanks
