  1. OK.. I would like order some of these trailer kits !!!!!! Let me know the price and where to send the money !!!!!!!! wow.
  2. OK.. after putting this aside for awhile out of frustration (the entire summer), we're back online again and "hammer down". I've got a true, straight, non-warped frame assembled, rear suspension attached, cab halves are glued, and will be priming and painting the engine block assembly and transmisson shortly. Not giving up!
  3. Wow.. when you go into production on that trailer kit -- let me know !!! I'll order 3 of them !!!
  4. If that's true, then it would save me a bunch of work on mine that I'm working on. I'm dreading that part of the work -- getting the front wheels to tuck in under the cab correctly.
  5. Very nice ! What technique did you use to narrow up the front end so that the front tires fit properly inside the body ? Aftermarket front axle ? cut and section the kit axle ? remove the front brake drums ? Thanks!
  6. I'm still waiting for a grain trailer like the one on the photo on the Ertl Transtar II Eagle COE kit !! http://www.oldmodelkits.com/jpegs/ERTL 8017 Transtar.JPG
  7. Can you tell me how you painted (what you used) the exhaust manifold ? It looks great. Thanks
  8. Wow - I'm not sure either. I didn't ask the owners at the show. The pic in the conventional with the turbo was in the Kenworth shown in the pic here -- I wanna say they guy said it was a "390" ??? Don't quote me. The other one in the red frame was in the Freightliner in the pic here.
  9. OK thanks all ! For parts where you do use the Tamiya fine spray primer, how long do you need to let it dry before spraying the color coat over it ?
  10. I really wish someone would make a "current" tanker trailer like the "oval" shaped tankers on the road today (see pic in link) -- instead of the "round" cylinder tanks. http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/mike_boyd/2008/01-31/loves_frtlnr_columbia_i40_ok_01-08.html
  11. Are you saying don't prime at all ?? Or don't use the Tamiya primer ?? I'm planning on painting the engine assembly with Tamiya Color for Plastics spray paint.
  12. Thx ! Don't worry... still here. Picking up the Pabst Blue Ribbon Freightliner project again this coming weekend -- sorry it takes me forever !
  13. Wow ,... great site thanks !! I'm still amazed at some of the pics.. and how crude some of the old COEs were inside. The old Freightliner COEs especially -- the thing they used that passed for the passenger seat !! Looks like something out of a Diner ! ;-)
  14. Freightliner COEs are still my favorite.. right after the Transtar II Eagles. I actually haven't seen pics like these of the Freightliners with spoked wheels. Thx
  15. So what prompted the shift from COE to conventionals ?? I sure miss those old cabovers.
  16. I love the old Transtar -- have a big soft spot in my heart for that one !
  17. Hi all: I'm going to try the Tamiya spray fine light gray primer for the first time. The instructions on the can specify: "spray 2 or 3 thin coats". Do you guys normally do this with this primer? Or blast it in one coat ? I'm priming a truck engine assembly, not a body. If so, how long do you normally wait between coats ? Thanks
  18. Ha ha.. I've never finished one in less than that ! You are a machine !! Great work on this !!
  19. Congrats !! Man that is just plain sweet. Very nice job!
  20. SOLD !! I can see that's probably the way to go for me too !
