Destroyed models

Sorry to see this! The blue Peterbilt wrecker was one of my all time favorites! I even have the build thread saved in hopes of building a similar boom assembly some day. I hope that you're able to repair at least some of them. -

Just an added note. I had my terminology a little off. Of course if there is one thing that I do well, it is butcher the English language. I found out that tag axles are behind the drives and pusher axles are in front of the drives. We are looking forward to seeing your project!

So is it still going to be a tandem drive with a tag in front of the drives, or single drive with tag? If it is a third front axle, I would make a "U" axle. You can simply bend the axle tube or like this build, the center is box tubing and it is drilled for the axles. If it is going to be a third axle you can rob the Peterbilt air ride from one of the snap kit for suspension. If there is lots of drive line clearance you can also simply use a straight axle. As far as steerable tags the ones that "I've seen" are lift axles not to say that they don't make non-lifting steers . Even doing a search of non-lifting axles, most of the results that come up are lifting axles. But steer axle is an option that you can simply use a front axle from most any kit. If it is going to be a third axle, I would definitely go air suspension, if not from a snap Peterbilt, then AMT, Revell, or Italeri will work too, or even the old Ertl Transtar air ride. Another option, moluminum, and GW trucks offers a nice axles with suspension as well.

Thanks Jacob! Thanks to everyone who has voted! This was a hard group to choose from. I didn't vote since I moderated this one. It would have been hard for me to pick a favorite. Remember everyone, tonight is the last night to vote if you haven't already. Thanks again to everyone who entered the 2019 Big Rig Build Off. Brian -
Tag axles come in a large variety designs, if you let us know what kind of project you're planning we might can help more. Rear tags are usually straight. Front tags often "U" in the middle to clear the drive line. If your drive axle has air ride, then you could add a tag with a similar set up making the axle out of rod as Kerry said. Also will it be a lifting tag or not? Give us an idea of what kind of project you are planning. Brian

Very cool project Pat! I really like the sound of those. There are quite a few of those in this neck of the woods. The Southeast Threshers Reunion is held about 15 miles up the road every year the week of July 4th and there are several there in various sizes. I like the great big ones. There's a store about 3 miles up the road that uses one of the smaller ones every weekend to make ice cream. Looking forward to seeing this one!

Thanks Jeff! I'm glad we were able to finish a truck build off. I'm thankful to all who entered. My goal was to inspire some great truck building and that is what has happened. Even those who didn't meet the deadline have started some great builds that I'm looking forward to seeing completed. Thanks again to everyone who entered!! Also to all forum members, if you haven't stopped by the "Big Rig Under Glass" section to vote for your favorite truck build in the Big Rig Build Off, please stop in and vote, even if you don't usually visit the truck section. Thanks, Brian -
I wanted to invite everyone in the forum to stop by the "Big Rig Under Glass" section and vote for your favorite build in the Big Rig Build Off Voting thread. Even if you're not a truck builder stop in and pick your favorite. Thanks, Brian
