  1. Thanks for posting your truck! I would like to build one of these in scale one day myself. The state used to use these with short dump beds on them. That is what I would like to re-create. Unfortunately the only ones a available right now that I know of would take a lot of work to make them look accurate.
  2. Thanks, but it won’t compare to the caliber of the one you are building.
  3. Thanks Jeff!! Thanks so much!! Thanks Jim!! Thanks Juergen!! I replaced the plastic sheeting on the side with thin aluminum. I then distressed it to conform the frame work. On the floor, I laid out .040 Evergreen styrene the same width and in the same location as the beams under the floor. I then covered that with the same thin aluminum distressing it around the .040 styrene. I used a combination of rust, red oxide, black and chalk to simulate rust. A dump bed used every day would stay smooth and shiny, but it doesn’t take but a few days of rain to make one rusty again. Thanks again to everyone!
  4. I would check with ST Supply. In my experience, he is the fastest way to get what you need, but still allow 2-4 weeks.
  5. Looks Great!! I always have to engineer and re-engineer, and re-engineer on my projects. I like your solution for the intake! It looks great. Excellent work all the way around!
  6. This project gets even more Amazing every time I look at it! Those hood hinges are incredible! I don’t think that I will be able to have anything like that on my D800. ? It is a pleasure to what this one come together!!
  7. A friend of mine had a beautiful 73. I am pretty sure that the 73 and 74 were the same and that the MPC kit would represent Daisy’s first car, filmed in Georgia. Parts listings that I have seen seem to list 73-74 grilles and 73-74 tail lights together. However I’m not a Mopar expert, but there are several on this forum, so maybe one will chime in.
  8. Sam, I have enjoyed watching this one come together! You did a great job on this! It looks great! It makes me want to build the Crackerbox that I have.
  9. Thanks Dan! I’m pretty sure that the cab was mastered by our very own Charles Rowley as a W500. Charles said that it looked like his. I picked it up on EBay but am not sure who cast this one. The seller that I bought it from sold a few of these and disappeared. I don’t know if they were casting them or just had a few. I bought it with the intention of making a road tractor out of it since it has the large flares like the 800 series, but I seem to be on a dump truck kick right now, so that is what I settled on.The plan is using the 361engine and transmission out of the Lindberg kit. It is sitting on a modified version of the Lindberg chassis.
  10. Thanks Jim! I have been wanting to build something with a 6v-53 for a long time now. I’m pretty happy with how this one turned out. Thanks Dan!! And thanks for all the encouragement along the way! Thanks!! Thanks Larry!! Thanks Doug! I have been wanting to build one of these trucks since I first saw it listed on EBay. Thanks!! Thanks too, for all your input along the way and technical data. The tried to get close to the build sheet. Thanks so much Vincent!! Thanks for all the encouraging words along the way too! Thanks so much Sam!! Thanks Brian! Thanks Gareth!!
  11. Starting another project. It is a Dodge D800. I was originally going to build a tandem, but it looks like the tandem version of this truck was only available in the foreign market, so I decided to go single axle with a factory 175” wheelbase. Here is kind of a mock up:
  12. Thanks Dan! I’m starting another odd one, but I think that you might like it.? Thanks Tim!!! Thanks Francis!! I consider that a huge compliment coming from yourself!! Thanks Jeff! It was an interesting start, but as in real life, it wasn’t anything that JB Weld couldn’t fix.?
  13. I like it! The weathering is spot on!!
  14. I really like the paint scheme!! The 5 hole drives are a nice touch too! The stinger finishes this one off. Great work!
  15. Another Awesome looking Dodge from your bench! Excellent work!
  16. This is on an extended Louisville dump chassis. It is a Dans Models resin cab. The engine is a scratch built 6v-53 Detroit diesel. The transmission is a 5 speed Spicer main with a 4 speed auxiliary. The front wheels are from the Ford C cab. The drive wheels and two piece rear tires are from an old Ertl IH kit. The bed sides and floor are aluminum. Thanks to “leafsprings” for the build sheet. I tried to keep it as close to that as I could.
  17. I like the color! Nice build!
  18. I think that I might be done with this one. I will take some outside pictures tomorrow.
