  1. heres a few of mine...the Dutchman was one of my grails...so was the bounty hunter-polar lights kit n aftermarket decals...dragster was my first real venture into scratchbuilding-while not on the same level as many builds here it caused me to stretch my abilities...working steering wheel-using gears from a watch n ho scale slot cars, frame from aluminum tubing n styrene, injector scoops from an old vcr, metal body, homemade decals..the thing in the background is a stretched deora-working gullwing doors, slant 12
  2. everyone has the right to express their opinion-civilized people do this w/o it turning into a personal attack. don't like a post-just don't respond. perhaps a better title for the box art post would have been: bad examples of packaging not illustrating the product well. as far as art goes-nobody knows what art is...in other words art cant be measured and opinions about art are completely subjective. imho the mod should just warn/ban the people who post personal attacks BUT as pointed out the mods have a thankless duty and its their call.
  3. the basic rule of capitalism is sell high, buy low...but some of these guys are just stupid-how many viper kits are gonna sell for 25 bucks-none. the sellers that bug me are those selling one part for 25 bucks or more-they cant be selling much. my solution...I don't buy from gougers. the other side of the coin: if we saw a 60 Plymouth wagon for 15 bucks(for example) most of us would buy it immediately-how many of us would offer to pay 50 bucks because 15 is too low? probably none.
  4. I have no plans...would trade
  5. anyone know of a way to remove blue sharpie from clear parts w/o damage other than sanding and polishing? just got a clearbodied kit and about 1/3 of body is colored with blue sharpie...tia
  6. any chance you would part with the Donahue javelin?
  7. need help identifying this kir...it has 2 engines...tires/wheels are not part of kit
  8. I know there was a topic for this but I forgot where it was...so heres my rescue...all I had to start with was the damaged cab and part of the frame
  9. yeah, it will be a challenge...it took 13 years to acquire enough parts to build the clear, blown version(complete unbuilt kits are going for 300 + so I got several built ones) and eded up with enough parts to build the twin turbocharged one
  10. thanks...im thinking about taking a shot at the mr gasket mustang with the twin turbo set up...ive built the clearbodied one with a blower but have never seen a model of the twin turbod one.
  11. could someone explain the basic pipe routing of a turbo? tia!
  12. as a youngster I built one of the 76's...used part of a sock for carpet...lol...was ecstatic when I won a 2nd place trophy at the local Walmart contest...finally found another one and someday ill rebuild it as the one I built in the past.
  13. ive got one...if interested email me otb jeffcardinalfan@yahoo.com
  14. a few additions to murphys law: the amount of any material(glue, paint, wire, etc) needed to finish your project is greater than the amount of said material on hand. in the case of paint...after agonizing over the color choice for your best build ever you will run out of paint only to discover that you used the last can/bottle of that color in existence. when you locate another can/bottle of the same paint it will not match. any part that test fits perfectly will not fit during final assembly. lets say you have two parts such as valve covers. you glue one on correctly, the other you glue on backwards: the correct one falls off while you are attempting to remove the incorrect one which is now permanently bonded to the head. if you finally decide to pay big bucks for a kit the same kit will show up on ebay 2 days later for 10 bucks. if you sell a kit its value will instantly double. if the body must be glued thoroughly to be held in place you will not notice you forgot to install the steering wheel until the glue has dried. you will only have enough wire of a certain color to make 7 plug wires on a v8. the photoetch part that inevitably flies into space will be found 2 weeks later by impaling your bare foot. if you buy an extra set of decals you will not need them; of course if you don't you will. if you mix superglue with liquid cement to allow a few seconds to exactly position a part it will bond instantly. any decal positioned perfectly will not dry; conversely any decal needed to be nudged into place will dry instantly. if a kit comes with extra parts in case you lose one, either of the following will happen: you will not need any spares or you will lose more than the number of spares provided. if you ONLY build cars or trucks any kit you receive as a gift will be of an airplane or ship. no matter how many miniature drill bits you own you will need one of a different size. your parts box will only contain sets of 3 matching tires or wheels. your parts box has 25 hemi valve covers-no two will match. any kit or decal set you find and decide to wait to purchase will become impossible to find later. you own a kit evidently made of a special plastic that no known adhesive will stick to.
  15. driverless cars will be great until the doohickey malfunctions...our species is obsessed with technology.
  16. I really have a dilemma as im airbrushed challenged...lol
  17. has anybody used the preval paint system...results? ease of use?
  18. would you be interested in painting a color me gone charger body if I sent you the body and decals? I would offer kits in trade or other considerations...you can email me at jeffcardinalfan@yahoo.com
  19. I agree completely...I once offered a guy money to put a tarp over a 56 dodge pick up that was sitting outside uncovered after he informed me that it was not for sale at any price...it sat there for 5 more years uncovered, then was sold at a scrapyard for scrap metal price as it was completely worthless at that point. the same guy has a 57 2 dr chevy and a 65 elcamino both outside, uncovered, with windows DOWN and not for sale at any price. ive built or plan to build every kit I have including a full detail Shelby Daytona cobra coupe and a original issue mpc transporter with ramcharger dragster which ive already built.
  20. what is this? also what is the short frame section with wheels? thanks
  21. duh!! thanks...was trying to come up with this as three words...lol
  22. do you have the instructions? if so I would like a copy or scan...I would send you some parts or maybe some photoetch stuff.
