  1. Now THAT is a pile of resin! Sounds like a cool build!
  2. I've got an excavator like that as well. It has been modified with Bruder tracks and tons of details, and makes a very good mid size CAT.
  3. It is so it can be shipped USPS First Class Parcel. If it is too thin, it will go First Class Letter at a higher rate. Found this out quite a while ago selling stuff on eBay. I put a few peanuts in a lot of things that would cost more shipping as a letter.
  4. Bob Sniegowski at Illini Replica Conversions used to offer a KB9, I believe. Email him at illinireplicaconv@ameritech.net
  5. First step, opening the hood. Xacto knife and razor saw got it done. Thinking of a twin screw straight truck flatbed.......so far!
  6. I don't usually take part in builds with a finish line......... because I am almost certain to be a DNF. But, I'll give it a try! IHC Fleetstar 2070B. Cummins powered, not sure of the body yet....that is to be determined. And depending on the body chosen, it may morph into an 2070A. It is a very old resin from Jim Etter. I will be using almost 100% recycled parts and will cut and hinge the hood. Happy New Year!
  7. Thank you! It's not so much a way of thinking, as I see it, but more just deciding that there is nothing you can't do, or at least try. I have watched so many incredibly talented people here on the forum, and drawn inspiration from them, and decided that, this is something I wanted to try, so, I went for it. What's the worst that could happen? Failure? If so, you learn from that too. But, when I reached a roadblock, there was always someone out there to lend a helping piece of advice.............THAT is what made this build come together. I had always built just trucks, some with resin cabs, some kitbashed, but all very heavily based on kits. Then I tried a singe axle vintage lowboy 70% from scratch. It worked. Then a Galion roller, and then a removable gooseneck lowboy, and then a resin cabbed scratch built rollback truck. Now, I have found myself with very little desire to build a boxed kit. Give it a try......expand your horizons......it is only limited by your imagination!
  8. Superb weathering skills.........................makes me jealous!
  9. I may have waited if I saw the tweaked rules, but the fact remains, I'd never be done in 7 months!
  10. I wouldn't have a snowball's chance in you know where of getting this done by August! This one is about ten times as complex as the crane I just finished..........it's gonna be a challenge! But I'll be following the BRBO and all the great work being done there!
  11. I never worked on the paving crew so I don't have a solid knowledge of how these machines work. My only experience with them is repairing and refurbishing them. So......this project is going to be a HUGE learning experience! Started with the screed rear end support frames taken right from the parts book. Main frame is partially done. Big projects start out small!
  12. Absolutely stunning work! The way you approach a complex piece like the cab and get it done is amazing. I must thank you, as watching your builds has helped me solve many problems when doing my own building. Incredible building, Hermann!
  13. Beautiful scratch building skills on display right here! NICE!
  14. After seeing the M1070, I cannot wait to see the trailer with it! AWESOME!
  15. My absolutely favorite Mack.......................the R700. Very nice frame...........I've got to try a scratch built frame some day. This is shaping up to be a great build. Keep the updates coming, and Merry Christmas!
  16. VERY nicely done...............!
  17. We had one of these where I used to work that was in the bone yard. We also had a couple of the Blaw Knox versions that got retired while I was there in favor of a brand new Cat model on rubber. Since I was able to find a good batch of manuals for it, figured I'd give it a go! If it turns out half as well as the crane did, I will be very pleased!
  18. Figured out what the next project will be. It is going to be a Barber-Geeene paver. Started gathering parts tonite. Of course, I started with the manuals!
  19. Got my issue a couple days ago......THANK YOU Gregg!
  20. That is a FANTASTIC looking Brockway! Love the paint for sure. And the wrecker body looks WAY better on that truck than it did sitting on my shelf! AWESOME!!!
  21. Nice build.....................and great paint! Well done!
  22. Absolutely beautiful! Had one of those in our town with a V plow.....a beast!
