  1. The 23 y/o female driver of this truck in Indiana not only tried to go across a bridge marked for 6 tons, her truck was also too tall. http://www.livetrucking.com/indiana-bridge-collapses-after-being-struck-by-semi-truck/ http://www.livetrucking.com/truck-driver-who-knocked-down-bridge-said-she-didnt-know-how-much-6-tons-was/
  2. Nice work! And cabovers too! AWESOME! I have been a builder for decades, but kind of went on hiatus for the last ten years or a little more, for health and various reasons. I am also back at the bench, and it is great! Welcome back.................this bunch here on this site is tremendous! If I had found this site, and these great guys ten years ago, I'd never have hung it up!
  3. I have been looking for a detachable lowboy kit for what seems like forever. KJ, make 'em again and you have three, minimum, sales to me alone! Have either been too late out of the gate when one was offered, or tried to get one from someone who ended up trying to keep the deposits and not furnish a product. Anyone know know of ANYBODY making them in kit form? Robert, that is superb work! The detail work looks real! (Nice Ford too!!!)
  4. Mustang Madness, Nice build so far! Cobramike, of course, you still have the '66, right? No? That's ok............I dont have my '66, '67, or '69 'Stangs any more or my '73 GTO, though I kept her for 30 years! Ahhhhh, 20-20 hindsight and shoulda, woulda, coulda! That's why I build models! AND, thank you for your service! Mustang Madness, Keep the great pics a'comin'!
  5. Nice build! Merry Christmas!
  6. Have bought and sold on eBay for over ten years, but don't know for sure what time period they have for returns/refunds. But, PayPal has a 180 day window for returns/refunds.
  7. At least on eBay, the site and PayPal offer buyer protection. Try direct communication first, then appeal to eBay or PayPal at last resort.
  8. That dealer ran a flat rate shop. They charge by the Motor's Flat Rate labor book regardless of the time it takes. That is how they make their money, besides the high rates. Body shops do the same thing. A collision job may say a fender takes 5 hours to remove, replace and paint. If the body technician gets it done in 3.5 hours, the shop gets paid for the 5 and the tech gets a bonus on the hours saved. Your decision to use the local guy is a GOOD one!
  9. OUCH!!! That's expensive! I have a 2011 Toyota, a 2012 Silverado, a 2000 Harley Ultra Classic, and a 1991 Mustang GT hotrod all insured with collision here in Vermont for under 1000$ per year. Of course, we don't have the traffic you have where you live. Been there, like VT better!
  10. Kinda sad actually.....................that there are that MANY trucks and larger vehicles out there that are being driven around by totally clueless buffoons!
  11. Check out http://11foot8.com/. This bridge in Durham, NC has it's own website..................absolutely incredible!
  12. LOVE the engine! That's got more twists and turns than a bowl of spaghetti! Wow! Awesome body work too!
  13. Wow.....................awesome details and paint work. KEEP IT UP!
  14. Had one similar on an IHC B275 farm tractor as an add on unit. The cylinder is the assist. When activating the steering wheel, in ADDITION to the normal mechanical advantage from the wheel and steering shaft, an add on valving unit attached to the shaft, activated the cylinder in the appropriate direction using hydraulic pressure from an add on driven pump with separate reservoir. Hope that helps.
  15. eBay item 321948018160. Guy from Lunenburg VT. I got a couple from him and they are nice.
  16. Yes, aluminum is a conductor. I have never built a booth for models, but, I did own a full size downdraft booth in a body shop, and it WAS grounded to control static. Won't be a big deal to do, so go for it!
  17. Very nice work! Looks a lot like the rigs used to maintain the high tension electric lines in our area. COOL!
  18. EXTREMELY realistic looking builds.............would look like 1:1 if not shown with the reference to scale. NICE!!!!
  19. That is a superb piece! Wish my eyes and fumble fingers were capable of such work! Thanks for sharing it!
  20. Terry, your builds are incredible. I though I had a lot of unfinished projects, but your batch is awesome............but even more impressive is the level to which you have taken so many of them. My attention span is so short, it only has one end. I can NEVER get that far with a build without getting side tracked or deciding to change something I had been working on for years already and starting over. I have a CO-4090 in process right now, that I THOUGHT was getting close to completion...................until I started thinking about converting the already done running gear from a tandem drive to an all wheel drive, and now I can't get it out of my head! Keep up the superb work!
  21. Superb work.......................looks absolutely stunning!!!
  22. I do believe that the AMT Challenge mixer kit was only released with a Kenworth under it, not an Autocar. It was kit number T559. There were, to my knowledge, only two Autocar kits made, the dump and the tractor.
  23. From what info I know, told me by a fellow running one of these in a pulling truck, the Pontiac labelled heads were developed by Pontiac Racing for use on a big block Chevy in Pontiac bodied cars. Whatever the case, it is a MAJOR power producing engine, with the all time favorite big block Chevy at it's heart.
