  1. I've got to get my hands on one of those '59 Dodges! My Dad had a black '59 Coronet 2 door for a work car that was still sporting the wide white sidewall tires, I loved that car. My older brother hated it however, this was about 1968 and he drove it to school, all the kids would tease him and call it the "Batmobile"! My dad ended up buying him a '60 Pontiac Catalina for a school car! I wonder how the AMT '58 Plymouth chassis will fit under this kit?
  2. Bill, some people might think I'm nuts, but I prefer the higher '55 roof over the lower '56 roofline. As you said before it's funny they changed it for the last year of this body cycle, but the big three had money to burn in the '50's, just look back to the one year only '58 Pontiacs and Chevys.
  3. I stalled on this build for about a week when it came to the tires. I wanted the white letters, the AMT polyglas tires were to big for the kit rims, tires from the AMT Duster kit to small, so I ended up using the kit tires with decals from the Revell '67 GTX kit. Worked out pretty nice!
  4. That is a class act! It looks great in black and those wheels are a nice touch on an all black car. Beautiful work !
  5. An encore? I'll have to wait for the next spark to hit me. I go through this after every build! It could be just about anything, I'll post it "on the bench" when I do figure it out! And yes, I think the members here have all been great !
  6. I used Duplicolor T401 Bahama blue 11oz can. Used about 4 coats then polished it. Not quite B5 Blue, but close enough for this Nebraska boy!
  7. Fury, great to hear from you again on "the other side",LOL ! Here's the engine compartment pics you wanted to see: Thanks guys for the kind words!
  8. Just finished my Charger tonight. Added vanity plates with my wifes name since she picked the color and to honor her for our 25th anniversary. Added valve stems for the wheels, painted the trim rings Testors chrome to look more like stainless, added interior door locks. Moved the rearend 1/16th of an inch forward on the leaf springs to better center the rear wheels in the openings. Thanks for looking.
  9. Very nice! Do the finned heads for the flathead come with this kit?
  10. I'll be following this one, Bill. Can't wait to see how you pull this one off !
  11. I've had one sheet that was cracked like that, all others had been fine, it's stored in my basement were the temp is almost the same year round. However, the last sheet I bought just would not stick, I think I'm going to send it back for replacement. This is the only brand of foil I will consider using as I've tried the other stuff and just don't like it.
  12. She's a beauty, Bill !
  13. Looking real good. Keep us updated.
  14. Very nice build, Jeff! I haven't started on mine yet, but your's pretty much mirrors what I had planned for mine. Thanks for sharing.
  15. What else can I say but "WOW"! What a great build ! I really like the missing details you added such as the hood latch. Great job Uwe !
  16. Finished up the chassis tonight, I painted the wheelwells with flat black paint to look like the sloppy undercoating applied at the factory. I got the large stripe decal on it also with out any mishaps. Thanks for checking it out.
  17. I'm going with real, just based on the glass and the reflections.
  18. Luis, just like your '53 hardtop, this is going to be a beauty also !
  19. Very nice and clean! I also like the color. Great job, thanks for sharing!
  20. I got alot done this weekend, just have some detailing to do on the grill, wheels and tires. Thanks for looking.
  21. I got bored waiting for glue to dry on my Charger, so I thought I would post this build I did a year ago. Thanks for looking.
  22. Well, I'm 46 yrs old and I started with snap kits when I was 8 or 9 years old. First ones were the Revell 1/32nd scale '57 Chevy and '57 Fords. After a few of these, my dad let me move up to glue kits, sort of like removing the training wheels from my bike. When I was a kid, I could walk down town and find 2 dime stores and 2 hardware stores that all sold kits and had good selections. Fast forward to 2007 and we have 1 Wal-Mart with a limited selection. Could the lack of exposure be part of the problem?
  23. Awesome looking custom Merc you got going! That is the most beautiful 1/25 scale flathead I think I've ever seen! Keep it up and thanks for sharing.
  24. Beautiful job! Nice and clean, just the way I like to see them!
  25. Happy belated birthday, Bill! I stopped counting after the big " four-o " also! Have a great one !
