Filling Pinholes in Resin?
STYRENE-SURFER replied to Snake45's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If we could find a product with these properties some folks around here would truly be thankful.? If you're going to foil it doesn't it need to be near perfect? Guess you could sand the trim off smooth and replace with a strip of styrene, though thats not the answer we're looking for. Oh, the joys of model building ?. -
Oh,... mailbox intake of course.?

I can see something like an TD type theme car here. Don't think he ever did a mail delivery. Maybe "Gone-Postal"? ?

What is this crude drawing supposed to be depicting?

Just a thought... I know there are those of you out there that have a vast knowledge of 1-1 automobiles. Even more here who know about kits produced over the years and their good or not so good attributes . My overall question is this, In building whatever you are working on, are you replicating something you have dealt with first hand 1-1 ? Something you have witnessed/worked on through life experiences ? Have you worked in the industry, carrying over that knowledge and interest to this hobby? Or are you like me. Trying to make make things look like those pictures on the internet with no first hand knowledge. (Wish I had hung around with more "car" people when younger. Grew up as a "boat" kid. LOL) I have a strange love of cars, although I don't always understand them. ? Thanx to all you true "car" folks here on the board, keep it rolling.

The culprit of adhesive fail
STYRENE-SURFER replied to Jon Cole's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
This is one of the golden rules of model building. That being said... Its always a good recommendation to scuff up the surfaces while using an epoxy type glue. Nothing wrong with your choice to use it. Masking off places that will eventually be glued together can be troublesome, but the inside of a body isn't that hard. -
Thanx ...This was sort of a sidestep from an ongoing project of mine. Sometimes looking for the correct or nearest part can drive me crazy. It is a skill how some here can put parts from several sources together in a convincing way. I don't have a huge stash of kits to source bits from and have a hard time remembering just which one has what I'm looking for. Overall, this has challenged my building skills and techniques. There are things I would do different if starting over for sure. Learned a lot from this project. Now... This Ford FE front timing chain cover is next. Don't know if I have anything to start out with so as par, will most likely do it the hard way.

I thought that looked familiar. ? Maybe these days they would make fun of self driving cars.

If you watch the clip I'd say that soldier in the back was very explosive. Never drove a Pinto,But had my share of econoboxes. Had two Opel Kadett's. Wish one of them would have looked like this... No seriously, they were fun little cars and easy to work on.

Head set magnifier recommendations???
STYRENE-SURFER replied to 2zwudz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yup, they are also available in different magnification levels. Me, I had to take a Dremel to this bitt to better fit my "pin' head. LOL Another thing I like are these "CLIC" magnifiers available to +4 and also attached an Bausch & Lomb loupe. -
Yah, did some really terrific dioramas . The women I know are mostly of the end result and functionality mind set. I do have a sister who asks me how I am doing on my latest projects, though I do think she thinks Im weird to spend so long on a thing that does nothing but sit there and has no purpose she can fathom. ?

Le Mans 1955 animated short film
STYRENE-SURFER replied to STYRENE-SURFER's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Here is the old Pathe reel covering the race. -
Absolutely gorgeous. I really like customs, and you sir have nailed that "Watson" look. Love it. Mild custom w/just that extra added panache. Great work! ?
-
This is quite a nice short animated film about that fateful race in 1955.

This manifold is just about finished, some final seam filling with thin CA applied very carefully and shaping where necessary. Made a 2" scale spacer so the distributer can be used in the normal placement. Have seen a couple of "pop off valve" set ups for this type of manifold so decided to leave that detail out. I was playing around with the thought of adding the FORD script. That tiny piece of photo etch I was attempting to use ended up lost for ever on my hobby room floor.

Favorite Obscure or Discovered Music Album
STYRENE-SURFER replied to afx's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
OK, a real album this time. found this one in a "cut out rack" many years ago. He was discovered busking in the streets of London. He described his sound as "Blufunk"... whatever you call it, its funky and infectious. One of my "desert Island Disks" . -

Nice stuff above... Heres a bit of Midwestern weirdness .MPLS SOUND? no , the post punk thing. Polka-punk in a long format . They were fun when they where around, worked in advertising studio with a couple of those horn blowers. hang in there for some sharp musical fun. -
Thanx for the clarification, You most likely stated this earlier at some point but I missed it. These rules are meant for protecting this site from being hacked? Or are they for keeping those bad guys from spamming? IE, logging in on a fictitiously created user account and starting a thread promoting the latest ED prescriptions or whatever.? Not knowing just how malicious these kind of attempts are and can be, thanx for being protective about the site. Ha, another lefty here. We are the "RIGHT"- brained people, ? tho not absolutely proven scientifically. I can't do anything with left handed scissors and bat right handed,so perhaps an anomaly .

I copied this from lifework.com How to fix 404 page not found error. I changed my DNS server settings a number of years ago because I was having trouble with my media server grabbing metadata. It did help with that problem and also improved overall performance. Might be worth a try. Change the DNS servers used by your computer, but usually only if an entire website is giving you a 404 error, especially if the website is available to those on other networks (e.g., your mobile phone network or a friend in another city). 404's on an entire website isn't particularly common unless your ISP or government filters/censors websites. No matter the reason, if it does happen, giving another set of DNS servers a try is a good step to take. See our Public DNS Servers List for some alternatives and instructions on doing this. Not an expert but play around with this type of stuff from time to time.

Must be frustrating as all heck. I haven't got the 404 in a long time. . Not a heavy user of this forum myself.

Well It's not Saturday, but here is my new hobby room and bench. Not completely organized yet, getting there. Haven't even used my spray booth in this space yet, or even worked out how to vent it so far. Did take it all apart and give it a good cleaning though. Due to the Flu and a Mid Century floor too ceiling lamp restoration, haven't been able to spend much time in it lately. There is a small project happening on that granite slab.?
