How about some spooky halloween music
STYRENE-SURFER replied to STYRENE-SURFER's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Forgot about those Squirrel Nut Zippers. What a cool band. Bauhaus... This one was just kind of spooky, anyone remember this? -
The mother load...........

TJ, I hope she responds. It would be sad to see her get taken. Though I'm sure some of us have been through similar situations. Stuff that has to be cleared out quickly, you have to make hard choices. -
How would you cut this out?

Well DUH! You do want the parts to match up in the end without any undo flexing or whatever. Is this really that hard for you to understand -

Well. As you can see There are as many ways to do this as there are members here. Myself, I wouldn't start butchering until I had a good fit between the chassis and body. Only then would I start on this modification. For reasons I've already gone through. To each there own.? Build it ! -

Looks like a fairly fragile body, I would take the advise from Bill and Casey although think it would be a good idea to stabilize the body so things don't go south. -

Hard to believe any kit manufacture would think this was doable. All I can think of is try to put some kind of strengthening into the body(like they do on 1-1 cars) something that will brace/hold it together while working on it, but later removed. In other words sacrificial cross braces to keep it held in place for that work. Perhaps the kit chassis would suffice. -
You Know, those pesky little blobs on a can that your friends pick off and deposit on your carpet while watching football. Is there a name for them?

I saw that one on display out in front of a department store in Minnesota way back in my youth. Geez I'm old, but that thing was the coolest.?

Beautiful. As an ex CNC machinest of finicky tiny medical parts, all I can think of is... WOW!!!

They shoot horses, don't they?
STYRENE-SURFER replied to STYRENE-SURFER's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Tim... Ive got a set of '40 ford photo-etched details. There are a couple of pieces on this that could work. I took this pic the other day and have decided that the one depicted (toothpick pointing at it) is a bit too large. There are also two smaller ones on the same sheet, though I'd have to do some surgery. Never messed with the stuff before? -
Thinking the same as Muncie. Is that a Ford Econoline body drag car? Kinda looks like it could be the Galpin backwards pickup.

The Kookie Kar
STYRENE-SURFER replied to Bill J's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As documented on the Jalopy Journal(HAMB). https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/driving-the-kookie-kar-back-to-1958.1110832/ Lots of good pic's for those who might try to recreate it, including some shameful fab work? Great history, though I prefer Tommy Ivo's T. bucket. -
Nice work. I think most would agree that modelers have just that attention to detail and vision lacking in some folks. Oh, I also see that you have loaded the T.P. in the correct way ( over the top ). Cant tell you how many times this controversy has been discussed with the women in my life.?

It's in the works. Thanx for that J.C. ?? -
Thanx Scott, Thats exactly they type of input I am looking for. Norm emailed me that he prefers to cast from raw masters rather than primed. Just as well for me because I'm afraid of obliterating any detail. The runners need some radius sanded into them as well as some fill in a couple areas. I'm using milliput for that, mixed in small batch and applied in tiny little pellets (best description I can think of) then smoothed out with different shaped tools with a bit of water so it doesn't stick to them. The four visible manifold bolts are moulded a bit weak on the original part. That I will try to fix. I will probably create a spacer to mount the blower on if someone wants to use the usual distributer location. It's set up to use the Revell K.S. Pittman supercharger though there could better options out there. The K.S. Pittman one fits with just a bit more room for a larger one.
-
Scott... I do have a reputable caster that is interested in casting this. Probably one that most here know well. Although that is just for one interested forum member here so far. I'm trying to make this worthy enough that others might want one. That is why I've asked the questions I have,( still would like to know) in the hope that perhaps more knowledgeable/critical eyes can help. You don't have to be afraid of letting me know what you think might need some attention. Lay it on me. I am also wondering how it should be finished, Primed or just raw styrene. ?

Still working on this M/T blower manifold. Still more details to add in. Just wondering if anyone with experience creating parts to cast could give me some tips. New territory for me. Ive been in contact with a resin guy you probably all know. He's willing to cast it for me and so far one other interested party here on the forum.

Cover versions of well-known songs

Cant go wrong with Warren involved.? -
Wow! Absolutely amazing work. Think I agree with you about extra spark plug locations. They looked (from those pictures) as if they were welded on, rather crudely bits of Aluminum tube instead of being cast into the covers.

Really like this one Roger Exceptional work! ?

Its great that this has become a pinned thread. Tho it would be nice to keep it concise without all the banter. We can all ask questions on another thread and then add any info to this one to keep it tidy.
