  1. I love it when old rough builds are saved!
  2. The sinkhole aside -that's to be expected - curious as to why you didn't ask Round 2 for a replacement...
  3. Diecast crew gettin' a whole lotta love this month...
  4. Very informative thread. Thanks to all who've posted. I can't speak to automotive kits but I do know that it was not unknown for vintage Aurora figure kits to be issued in different colours. I suspect, as Casey mentioned above that the different colours for the same issues were cases of running out of the main colour. Idle machines don't make money lol. As for the black version shown on the original box, that could also have been a one off molded specifically for the photo shoot or one with a quick paint job for the same purpose.
  5. Pardon my ignorance but what is the yellow Chev (Naked Mexican/Super Shops) in the above photo -? Has it been painted? Looks like a vintage build - is it? I love the patina on it regardless.
  6. What paints and their titles are on the Thunderbird 2?
  7. If I've heard the story, I can't recall it off the top of my head but what happened to the tooling for the original Ala Kart?
  8. Great builds! I'll echo Anthony's question and ask who made all of these kits AND what paints are on the Thunderbird 2?
  9. There's absolutely on need to paint the car whatsoever. The plastic colour matches the photo almost perfectly. There are not too many kits where that's possible. Great build of a great kit.
  10. Will it? It's NEVER worked for Sylvester. ?
  11. I agree with you - I much prefer to go the restoration route than to build a vintage survivor, That being said, when one can do justice to the kit...and you've done justice to the kit... Great build! Can wait to see the hardtop.
  12. Nope - that's the old Eldon Outhouse...?
  13. Terrific job! What brand and name is that yellow?
  14. As I understand it, the configuration of the machines wouldn't allow it. I believe that the machines run using styrene pellets that are melted and then pushed into the mold. I could be wrong about this.
  15. If a company A is thinking of buying out company B, would they not want a COMPLETE inventory of molds and an assessment of their conditions in order to be able to come up with a proper offer price? Granted, it may be impractical to run plastic through every mold before acquisition but at minimum you'd think that a visual inspection of everything would be in order... Seems as if it's mostly the purchase of a bunch of "surprise packages" in some cases.
  16. According to Dave Darby's post on page 1 they didn't.
  17. Please keep posting progress photos - looks great so far. You could make your own interpretation of "Hint of Mint"...
  18. I have trouble understanding: a). how Round 2 could not know that the Styline parts were in the tool; or b) not think to ask the question
  19. I thought as much which is a major bummer. As an example, the box bottom drawings, as shown in the video, would indicate that the "Hint of Mint" back bumper is not included.
  20. So if I understand what's being said in this thread - the upcoming Round 2 '57 Chevy release does NOT contain MOST of these customizing parts or does it not contain ANY of these customizing parts?
  21. This is great! Please keep posting with your current level of detail...
  22. Or when I was hoping that that big wrapped box was Gigantic Frankenstein but it turned out to be a pair of skates. ?
  23. This sounds exactly like Christmas in days of old. ?
