  1. Could you please tell us what brand and colour of paints that you're using as you show us each segment? Excellent work thus far!
  2. I like your suggestions AND I'll take a Ricksha.
  3. Great treasure trove of information! I loved those old sales brochures.
  4. Do you mean the "cloths pins"?
  5. There's no specific test but it's exactly as you say - it's an eyes and touch test. I don't know if anyone remembers but some time ago, a series of reissues, in particular showrods, were made with what seemed to be almost PVC like plastic. It was awful. You'd try and sand it and it started to melt. It felt almost oily. Casey mentioned brittleness. These are the types of characteristics I'm looking out for - essentially, is the styrene of good quality or is it substandard? Gary - I don't know what the '30 Ford Coupe plastic is like but I'll assume by your response that you find it pretty good.
  6. Even if you completed the kit you were not a Saint - there was a lot of cursing and swearing whether you completed it or not LOL
  7. "...make the jersey gloss then apply a flat coat once the decals are dry." This means apply a coat of gloss varnish, apply the decals, let them dry, then apply a coat of flat varnish.
  8. How's the styrene quality in this version?
  9. He didn't seem to have any problems of note which was a bit surprising...
  10. Careful - you may end up on the wrong train... ?a
  11. Great build! Do tell...were you able to get the doors to open and close properly?
  12. Why not? If nothing's available, a little "State of the Union" address would have been/would be nice especially since they've been posting on a monthly basis for some time now...
  13. If so, it would be nice to hear something directly from the horse's mouth wouldn't it?
  14. Stunning work... What Tamiya colour or colours make up your light green?
  15. Yup - it's out in Europe and it's listed as an active issue on the Revell Europe site but I take it from Bob's post above (source unknown..to me anyway lol) that the US/Canadian release date has been pushed to next month.
  16. I can't find Q1 2022 or the complete Q2 2022 anywhere - even on their FB page. Do you have the complete Q1 and Q2 lists by any chance or a direct link to each? Thanks.
  17. It will be 20 years since the last issue. Hope that they release it this time with the original box top...and with real styrene. I'm in for a few!
  18. I had and "built" the original Henry J back when it first came out. It was the only one of those four that I had. I remember it being fussy and I attributed all of the problems that I was having to my lack of modelling skills which to some degree was correct...but not totally correct apparently LOL I noticed that Revell had the courtesy of labelling the current re-issue as a Skill Level 5. This might have changed my mind about buying the kit back in 1969. Anyone know when can we expect the Henry J on shelves in North America?
  19. Is there a consensus as to building difficulty for this group - from most difficult to easiest least difficult? What are the pitfalls of each kit? Thanks!
  20. Photo looks as if it's the yellow tape that's lifting LOL
  21. Go double action right away then. Don't buy something that you'll "outgrow" quickly. That's money that could be spent getting you where you ultimately want to go. Do lots of research. Ask lots of questions. Then buy a high quality set up. If you go cheap, then you'll get frustrated when things start breaking down or not working properly. You get what you pay for.
  22. You will need a nice glossy surface as a starter which can be accomplished with either a gloss paint or gloss varnish surface. As for the decal preparation, try this as a starter. There may be additional threads to which you can refer:
  23. Good to hear...because I just got back from my LHS with a pack of 2MM (they didn't have 1mm) LOL.
  24. So...did you ever get around to using the Vallejo 1mm tape? Curious to hear your review. I've used the Tamiya vinyl tape and thought that it was useless. It would continually lift off and not stick to anything. Anyone else use the Vallejo 1mm masking tape? Can you do curves with it? Let's hear those reviews!
  25. The very narrow tape that I bought (that wouldn't stick to anything) was not made out of the same material as their wider tape. Understandable too I guess since it's designed to curve but apparently not designed to stick LOL Anyone have a recently purchased roll of the very narrow Tamiya tape? Is it still the flexible plastic or have they changed it? And more importantly...does it stick? LOL
