Wow. This is the Revell kit? The reissue of the snap together kit?! If so, this is the nicest build I've seen of this kit. Excellent work.

Thought this was cool. Sotheby's is auctioning the Taj Ma Garaj collection in a week or so. I used to work for Norden Autohaus, the Porsche dealer mentioned, and the Randy mentioned was my boss. I ran the detail shop from 91 through 97, then was the Porsche sales guy from 2001 through 2005.I spend many hours detailing this one, and then years later got the chance to take it out to PCA autocross events and actually race it. This thing was a monster and an absolute blast. They got a couple of details wrong in the article, but it's overall pretty accurate. For one, the doctor did not sell it to Taj Ma Garaj. He traded it back to us, and we sold it. We also provided all the spares mentioned. To be totally accurate, they should not have clearcoated it when repainting. The original Guards Red paint on these was not cleared from factory. Wish I had that kind of dough for a toy.

Kept this one simple and out of box. I find these Italeri truck kits far more enjoyable to build that the AMT kits. And the detailing is better.

As a wagon fan, that Chevelle wagon is definitely on my list. I always chuckle when I see yet another Coke themed kit. The Coke themed Klingon Bird of Prey can't be too far away.

That's the out-of-box ride height? Awesome. What colour did you go with for the interior? Compliments the silver really well. And the dark finish on the wheels is a great choice too.

The footage from the Bahamas was crazy. Cannot imagine having that thing stalled out and parked over the city for hours on end. Also enjoying the news footage. News reporters who have nothing new to report are amusing. They small talk they try to fill time with is great.

On a related topic, I have a cross reference app on my phone that has been helpful. It doesn't translate manufacturer codes to hobby codes, but it does cross reference the hobby brands. Hobby Color Converter 16 different brands cross referenced, including Tamiya, Testor's, Humbrol, Vallejo, and a bunch I've never heard of. Enter your brand, then the type of paint, then the colour, and it spits out all of the matches in other brands. it also has a scale distance converter in it.

I do everything on my bench. Flocking, fine finishing, whatever. Just never at the same time. And I always clean up; wipe things down, put things away. It's a very neat workspace, I'm borderline OCD about that stuff. i did some practice last night on some sheet styrene. Tried white glue, watered down white glue, paint, and some spray adhesive. Is used my normal flocking method, and some three times sifted flocking to make sure it was as powdery as could be. Again, in all cases, the black turned out perfect. They grey and tan were blotchy. All from the same brand, all done at the same time. What the flock. I'll be ramping up my search for embossing powder over the weekend. Definitely need a solution. The Boxster on my bench needs grey carpet!

Nicely done! The dark wheels and the yellow paint go well together. I actually have the Tamiya Boxster on the bench right now. It is not yellow.

Well that would be a disappointment for sure.

Station wagons from the 70s. Plymouth Fury Sport Suburban, Mercury Cougar Villager, Ford Town & Country, etc. That's it.

Okay, that's not bad at all. A little more scale appropriate. Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing any spray adhesives, but I am going to experiment with some of these techniques. Went to Michael's earlier. All the embossing powder was glittery. Sparkly black just won't cut it.

The ads on this site are pretty unobtrusive. They're not overly large, they don't cover content, and they aren't pop ups. So around here, they don't bother me. I run Adblocker on all the computers I use at home and at work, and MCM is on the safe list.

I should try the wet paint method instead of glue, see how that works. I'm still going to pick up some embossing powder though. Try a few different things and see what works. Thanks everyone!
