  1. Read the article about this one. His ex-wife was about to revoke vehicle ownership. So he devalued his prized possession. Apparently, it has many performance upgrades and is quite a beast underneath all the crap.
  2. I still maintain that it will be rebuilt. Restoration would be impossible though. As a lifelong metal fan, every time I hear about a church burning down, I'm reminded of the Norwegian black metal scene of the early 90s. Murder, suicide, and dozens of church burnings in the Scandinavian countries. There's an excellent documentry about it called Until The Light Takes Us.
  3. Does anyone remember the story of The Dragon Vette? https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2011/02/07/pics-the-dragon-vette-continues-its-evolution/ It's real, and yes, it is hideous. On purpose. And the story is amusing.
  4. I miss mine. Probably should have kept this one. They're an amazing truck.
  5. If you look at the history of Notre Dame, or any just about every other significant European church or cathedral, you'll see a history of fires, damage, reconstruction, deconstruction, etc. As someone mentioned above, Notre Dame has had its share of history, and has always been rebuilt. This time will be no exception. Still, sad to watch. And I hear that most of the art and artifacts were able to be saved. I wonder about some of the stained glass though. That dates back to around 1250.
  6. Excellent work! Love the attention to detail.
  7. Paintwork is outstanding!
  8. My company is currently trialing this kind of service for our rental division. We picked a few existing rental clients, and have a dozen or so cars spread around the city. Interesting concept, and it seems to work okay. We are not using smart cars. Current we have Ford C-Max hybrids and a couple of Fusions.
  9. A few thoughts: Good luck getting one of these for less than $100k CDN. I'll be honestly shocked if the pricing is less. For quite some time, the plan had been for the C8 and C7 to be sold concurrently, as GM was considering moving Corvette to be it's own brand. Part of the plan to eliminate Chevrolet as a car company. The different bumpers represent different trim levels. There are at least three of them driving around. The current car has the base model, Z06, ZR1, Grand Sport. All with different bumpers. It had better be bigger than the C7. The C7 is too tiny. I physically cannot fit my 6'6" frame into a C7 to the point where I could actually drive it. Not even close. If you're losing your mind over a switch the mid-engine, you had better sit down and prepare yourself. The hybrid mid-engined Corvette is an eventuality!
  10. Read this morning that many people with nothing better to do are complaining that the pic is kind of blurry.
  11. There were two fish in a tank. One says to the other, "Do you know how to drive this thing?"
  12. Found this today. Chuckled.
  13. I'm not sure what the big fuss is all about. We've had images of the black hole for decades. There was even a documentary about it. Didn't end well for the crew of the USS Cygnus though. RIP.
  14. Compared to everything! The new ones are electric and are available in Canada for under $30k. Find another new electric car that is cheaper. The last year of using fuel in a smart car was 2017, and a brand new base model coupe could be purchased for just under $15k. You could not purchase another brand new car in Canada for less money. In 2013, I leased three of them for one of our clients at $12300 CDN. And diesel fuel is on par with gasoline prices here. With the benefit of higher efficiency. Is it the best small car out there? Not in my opinion. Your Kia Soul is a great option, and my dad had a 2016 Soul EX that I actually really enjoy. Would consider one myself if it could be had with a manual transmission. Hyundai make a better and cheaper vehicle than the smart, and I personally would rather buy a slightly used VW Golf for the same price as a smart. But it's still a great option for many.
  15. If someone lives in a city, works in the city, and rarely leaves the city, then a smart car makes a lot of sense. They are cheap to buy, they are dirt cheap to run, fuel economy (especially when they had a 3-cyl diesel) was really really good. They're easy to park just about anywhere. Perfect city commuter car. However, if you are 6'6" like me, then don't bother. You won't fit.
  16. Nah, THIS is how one listens to Zeppelin! Not my system, but dang. I wish it was.
  17. Yeah, I may be a mod, but I have a skewed sense of humour. The difference is, I know where I can let loose, and where I need to toe the line. And my humour is generally not for everyone. I was wondering why there are so many stories about vampires set in Europe, but not in Africa. Then I realized that vampires are killed by holy water, and they bless the rains down in Africa. Did you know you can distinguish an alligator from a crocodile by paying attention to whether the reptile sees you later or in a while?
  18. Oh I 100% agree. There would be such a discrepancy about what is considered inappropriate, that it would be a trainwreck within 5 posts. Have to keep this one as it is.
  19. I wish we could tell some slightly inappropriate jokes. I have an awesome joke about a penguin.
  20. Well those are a big gross mess! But easily salvageable! Looking forward to seeing the progress!
  21. Well...I would say I have zero concerns about the quality coming out of that printer! looks fantastic! I can't imagine this is the $700 printer one finds on Amazon. I'm thinking high end professional grade? What is he looking at charging for his product?
  22. My two cents... 3D parts are expensive. And I think that while the tech is here right now to get ultra-high quality, the cost of the hardware to get that quality makes things prohibitive for the majority of builders. If you just spent $5k plus on a high quality 3D printer, how would you price parts for scale models? Either sell a few at a higher cost, or sell a bazillion pieces at a lower cost? I've seen the quality pieces, and I've seen the "pretty good" pieces, and in most cases, they match or exceed kit quality. Especially when discussing AMT re-pops, which is all they seem to do now. However, for the costs involved, the quality had darn well better be high. I bought a 1/24 turbo for $15. I still think I'm dumb. $15 for two pieces that combined are smaller than an M&M. But they need no work, other than paint. Conversely, I've bought 3D parts that are accurate, but require a lot of sanding and smoothing and finishing before I can paint. And because I deal mainly in 1/24 and 1/25, sanding these smaller parts can be tedious work. So is the tech there? Of course it is. Is it worth it yet? Not for me it isn't. And I'm nowhere near the builder Dann or many others here are. Anyway, the quality of those kits looks stunning. I'd be curious about what the parts look like when they're fresh from the printer though. As for interest? Of the ones you mentioned Dann, not really. The Esprit would be most interesting to me, but my interest will fade or grow significantly depending on what kind of costs we'd be looking at. I'm guessing cost would depend on volume?
  23. If you check You Tube, you can find old footage of these things in full race mode. Being thrashed around a track at full throttle. That un-Godly racket is awesome.
  24. A thing of beauty. Just think about how over the top bonkers that car is. Huge power, weighs almost nothing, no traction aids or brake assist or any other safety nannies. Did it even have power steering? I love it.
