The vegetation and groundwork is spot on!! The truck is very very good as well.....I agree about the chrome, it rarely will rust and if anything will only pit here and there. The sheen on your truck is somewhat shiny, so maybe hit it with some dull coat after a little sanding using really fine sandpaper. The colors are well done! Overall, your 1st diorama is AWESOME!

Thanks for the info! I checked his sight and he does have a really nice Chevy box, but no Ford listed...e-mailed him about the Ford box several weeks ago but got no response. I can order his Chevy box for my needs but I am continuing forward on the Ford as I can't seem to find one. I will wait to post progress on that for another thread. Thanks again!

Hi Pat, I love your v12! I made mine on sketchup then printed one, sanded it down, then made a quick mold in clay and cast a few. I have however since created a new one with my new printer that captures the gmc letters but I need to see about sanding down the edges to round them before I cast it. I still need to create everything else for the 305. If you have any info on that engine, I could use it. I have several pics but no dimensions. I watched your thread on building your v12 and it gave me some ideas on how to pursue the 305. Any advice??

Here's a '70 Mercury Colony Park Modelhaus
bill lanfear replied to Paul Hettick's topic in Model Cars
Very nice! These are the types of builds I would like to do...unfortunately my 30 year break away from the hobby missed out on Johan going out and the whole Modelhaus craze. Hopefully someday I can obtain some of these types of kits. Well done on this wagon! -

Thanks Bill, Brian, and Sergey for the positive support! Can't wait to see what folks will be able to do with these! -
A Better Grill

Thanks Mike, I did think of doing something like that but I think printing them gives better results and far less work for the modeler using them. It still may come to that if the printing doesn't work out. -

Thanks Kerry, That 68 looks great! I hope you build a replica of it! I am looking at just a flat $15 (U.S.) each shipping included providing shipping charges don't exceed $3 or $4 otherwise I will have to rethink the prices. Multiple grills won't need shipping charges on each so after the first one they will be $10 each per package. I hope to get set up for paypal for ease of ordering. I am new to this and am not sure if I should invest in a website or just use e-mail or how I should go about it. I can only attend to this on weekends as I have a fulltime job. I looked online and cast grills are averaging $15 $16 each plus shipping so I think my prices will be fair. It takes 1.5 hrs to print one of these grills so hopefully I will be able to keep up with demand. I am not looking to get rich from this...only to make it worth the time and supplies used. I started making these and other parts for other kits for my own needs but realized many modelers had the same wants and needs as me, so I hope to help out the community. The printed grills are very clean and only require removing the supports which leave these (see picture) behind and a quick light sanding takes them right off. The "layers" from printing are pretty much invisible but a light coat of primer should take care of those as mentioned earlier in this thread. I will paint one with primer and Molotow chrome to see if there are any issues before I offer them. I want people to know ahead of time what work maybe involved in getting great results. -
A beautiful representation of an ugly car! Well done!

A Better Grill

Update. I made a mold for the 68-69 grill and after a dozen attempts to cast it, only 2 came out in one piece (extremely fragile) so plan B. I reworked my models on a computer and printed them with my new UV printer and I think I will go that route instead of casting. The parts are cleaner and stronger with some flexibility so they shouldn't break so easily. I am not quite ready to market them just yet but VERY close! What do you think of this idea?? Perhaps a coat of primer is needed to bring out the details??? Also the angle of the photo makes the grill bars look off center but they are good. I will post more with progress. -
Shrunk down the pics so now they will load. Here is what I have been working on for the 60-66 Chevy kits. The v6 emblems and valve cover are printed by me using my own digital models and printer and not casts. The v6 emblems look rough in the picture but are only 6mm wide and I had to zoom in quite a ways to capture the detail. The ridges are unnoticed to the naked eye. I will try printing them face up like the valve cover to see if I can get better results as I am a perfectionist. All parts are original models or modified kit parts and not re-pops of existing or long lost parts. Still working on GMC tailgate, 305 engine, spare tire mounting hardware for the stepside fenders, back window insert, and tailight caps for the long bed sides among lots of other parts for other makes and models. Progress is slow but steady, thanks for being patient. Tell me how I am doing!

Sorry, I have not been working on this build so much as I have been working on getting all the mods fine tuned for those who want to build fleetside long beds and or GMC's. I will get back to it eventually. There are many parts I have been working on for the AMT and Revell 60-66 Chevrolet kits. I had to redo the bedsides as they were a little short and had to remold them so I will correct this on my build as well. I have also been working on 67-69 grills for the Mobius Fords and am working on making an 8ft regular bed and 73-75 and 76-77 grills for the Firestone 78 Ford and also a 8ft bed for the re-issue Fall Guy Chevy. I can't seem to upload any pics right now but will as soon as possible. Thanks

Thanks everyone! Sorry to disappoint you Brian, I don't work in the film industry or anything special, just build for fun. I unfortunately live out in the boonies and haven't entered any contests or shows as it would be a road trip to any kind of model show...maybe someday! Thanks for all the kind words!

This is one of the better builds of a 57 I have seen. Well done! Helpful hint, if I may....the steering gearbox and column should be lowered down to the frame (between engine and inner fender). Great work on this build!
