Out of the park Curt! I can only imagine the sheer size of this on a workbench. I hope to eventually tackle a 1/12 kit. I have room in my display case for two. room on the workbench for one. The super detailing that these kits lend themselves to is what really scares me. Yours looks great. Chris

Cars you wished that was in 1/24

I'm throwing mine into the ring. That's what I would like to see. Plastic, not resin not metal. Chris -
Check out Scale Wiki, lots of information there. It will at least get you started on the right foot or give you an idea. Chris http://www.scalewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

Some Import News from Japan
crispy replied to Zoom Zoom's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
All the same I pre-ordered them. I'm really looking forward to the Fiat myself. Ever since I saw Jeremy Clarkson drive it and the Abarth, I really liked it. Hopefully we'll see an Abarth come out of this. I suspect so anyway. Chris -
Some Import News from Japan

To also add to Bob's list Fujimi is also releasing a set of 20" BBS wheels. For my fellow wheel hounds. Chris -
Mike, fantastic detailing and realism. Ultimately my favorite looking engine bay. Sometimes the Muscle car guys get so overdone in the engine bay that it starts to look fake. Your engine on the other hand, perfect and realistic. Great work! Thanks for sharing. Chris

1/24 Aoshima Knight Rider KITT and KARR
crispy replied to FujimiLover's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Get them while you can. I purchased Season three K.I.T.T. with the scanner included in the box, not separate like they've been doing as of recent. I see this kit going up in value anytime I check. they keep getting closer to $100 on the bay. It is a nicely detailed kit, but offers no engine as it is a curbside. I do see they have been popping out different season cars. Not sure if they include the scanners, but all the same if you want them buy them. They are pretty short run kits. Chris -
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
crispy replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It is a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California. I believe the closest you can get is the kit by Testors. Not sure what other manufacture may have done it, as the kits Testors did back in the 80's usually came from other companies. Chris -
Yippeeee #3 for 2009!
crispy replied to Crazy Ed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice haul Ed! If you haven't got time for the Ferrari 512S just let me know! Chris -
Chris, I'm not sure of your location, but if you're buying paints from Hiroboy I was wondering if you had tried Jameston @ Scalefinishes? He offers a huge selection of Ferrari paint as well and is located here in the states. Just thought I would mention it. You'd save a lot on shipping. Chris

Ok Chris, then beautiful work from the floor!! Please tell me it's not 70's shag you're working on. My parents had a nasty green and yellow and red orange shag in the house when I was growing up. EGAADS! Please do not let the floor interfere with your building! Again, great stuff from your floor. Chris

Clean build, but not surprising coming from your bench! I believe you've caught the essence of the car perfectly. It looks dead on right. Now, paint one in NOT RED! Chris

Looks good from here. Nice clean build. Chris

W.I.P. Ferrari F430GT RISI LM07 *UPDATE*
crispy replied to SCUDERIA-FERRARI's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I've been following this thread closely and am in awe of your interior and the beautiful job you've done CF'ing the spoiler. It really is a beautiful piece. I'm sure you'll overcome the wheel situation with no problem. I really love it so far. Chris -
As Bill mentioned, I'd love to get one to grok with very good intentions to build. I do as Jeff said as well, which is intend to build each kit I buy. With that said I do have some grokability kits. Most of the Fujimi Enthusiast series Ferrari kits for one, the Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT clear version and the Ferrari Enzo FXX. I also have the super large Testors Lamborghini Countach. A kit I had dreamed about since I was a kid and saw it at the LHS. Back then the $88 for it was too much. It's another I plan on building, but I certainly love to grok it. The Ford GT-40 is another kit I would love to have. Head of Finances gave me a eyebrow smirk. In layman's terms, means NO. I'll get one eventually. If only to grok it....... Chris

Those are the kit wheels. Thanks for the comments guys.

So, I happened to be perusing Zoom-Zoom's (Bob Downie) Fotki when I noticed he had a F430 Challenge car sitting with a regular F430. After looking at all the pics I noticed a few more things with my car. Well, I got a great deal on a Fujimi Challenge 430. I know why it was such a great deal, the body was so badly warped that even hot water and twisting wasn't helping. So, I started cutting again. I utilized the rear valence from the Challenge car. I'll be cleaning and prepping that piece for inclusion on my build. I also made a template of the hood of the Challenge car so that I could get a couple of hood pin holes into my hood. With all of that done it will now look much closer to an actual Challenge car. So, I must thank Bob for the great photo's on his fotki pointing out the differences. That helped me big time. Chris As you can see the top portion is the correct Challenge piece whereas the bottom one is street use. I'm much happier with the new piece.

Check out my emodelcars auctions!
crispy replied to crispy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's time for my monthly rave about emodlecars.com. At this time we're only 9 members away from a registered 500 emodeler's! There have been a lot of auctions up and lots of stuff sold. It really is starting to move along. More and different items are still coming to emodelcars. More paints, more books and magazines. Old built kits, old kits, resin and large scale. There is even a sprinkle of armor and air for those that break the car trend every now and again. If you haven't registered on emodelcars.com it is free. Listing is free. The only things you pay for are premiums if so desired. Then those aren't even that expensive. My son went through his small collection of kits and had me list a few he doesn't think he'll build. Help a kid out, and buy his stuff! LOL Anyway, I know I may sound like a broken record, but with free listings and more and more different items showing up I want to keep you guys reminded of the great deals. One week there was over 200 items listed. There are about 164 auctions daily on average. For your convenience I have the emodelcars.com link with the newest listings RIGHT HERE! Hope you'll stop by and see what's new! Chris -
Looking good. I'm really curious to see the paint before and after. I really appreciate your effort in helping point out the little miss cues on the sheet. It'll certainly help me out when I get to building mine. Chris

Just one small update. The 430 is now in a base fluorescent red. Its been wet sanded and will be ready for its first shot of Scalefinishes Ferrari Rosso Scuderia. Hopefully next week sometime. Here's a shot of it just out of thepaint booth: Chris

Fred, absolutely great scratch work! I look forward to your end product. Where did you find the slicks? I'm working on a F430 Challenge car and so far have been very disappointed with Fujimi. Wrong body, wrong tires, and the list goes on. I've been modifying a lot of it as well. I'm just not sure where to get the slicks though. Keep us updated on your progress! Chris

From what I understand they judge each model on its own merits. At the end they tally up the scores and the model with the most points gets first and then the next highest gets second and so on til 3rd place. Then depending on how many entrants there are in the class a few more may get honorable mention. So from what you are saying it sounds somewhat like modified judging to me. I'll have to definitely get a little more involved with that next year. Hope that explains it. Thanks for asking too! MIKE- yes this is the show in Fairmont. Would have loved to have ha you down. With all the problems you guys are encountering I can certainly understand. There is always next year. I have the flier to scan in yet with the details. Maybe next year! Glad you enjoyed the pictures. I did get a shot of every model at the show. Chris
