  1. The stripes add just the right amount of flavor. Looking good! Chris
  2. Bob, you never fail to disappoint! Beautiful color and perfect wheels. Chris
  3. I know they were speculating this last race. That's a shame, but with the amount of money involved not surprising. Chris

    Ferrari 430

That's nice! The blue looks fantastic on there! Sometimes these quick fun little builds are what you need to get over the hump. I just have a hard time believing it only took three days! WOW. I haven't built a Fujimi F430, but I do have the 430 Scuderia on pre-order and looking at how quick you did this, I can't wait until I get it. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Rob, yes, exactly that! Thanks for posting it. I took my buddy to the closest hobby shop and told him to buy the paint he wanted. All Tamiya colors. He wants the car to be pearl white with Fred Cady 69 decals and a matching blue interior. It's my first resin and as I said earlier, I'm not real thrilled about it. However after finding the little quirks and preparing the body I think it's ready for a cleaning. It'll be a slow process as I have been working on it in between my own stuff. I'll certainly post pictures here when I can. Again, thanks for the picture Rob! Chris
  6. Exactly what Bob said. Skies the limit when your money is. Here are a couple of my favorites:
  7. Len, some of those other boards you visit still used the antiquated html coding. The newer bulletin boards have their own coding, naturally called BB code. BB code is, to me, a little simpler to use. All the same, I think you'll do just fine as is evidenced by this post. On another note, as far as Revell is concerned. I mainly build Exotic/Japanese cars, however Revell got me to buy their 49 Merc kit! Totally out of my realm, but I bit. I've done a smattering of muscle cars and the Nova is a no brainer for me. I know I'll be buying a few. IF Revell can do that to someone who builds totally different cars, then they hit something. I can't imagine if Revell were to jump of the deep end and produce a McLaren F1 road car, I'd probably faint...... Chris
  8. Yay! You did it Len! Looking good! I'm going to bet Revell has another big hit on their hands. I look forward to picking this kit up! I look forward to more step by step posts from you. Chris
  9. Nic, you really hit the head on something I do. I try not to collect kits, but eventually we all become collectors. If I like it I try to buy it as soon as I can because waiting will only make the cost go up. Especially true of Japanese kits and almost anything racing. That of course drives your initial cost up. I'm kicking myself now for not picking up a dart when I had the chance. Now you pay two to three times more for them. It's not something I really need, yet.... Chris
  10. I've built a few models for friends who were curious on how much it cost to build their kit. Needless to say, without adding in time both were around $200. Although this counted paint, glue etc... Again, I'm like everyone else. I buy what I like, what I want to add to it and go from their. I've spent as little as $3.50 recently for a kit, and as much as $175 for one. I think where the cost increases is when you decide what you are going to do with the build. I buy lots of foreign kits with the corresponding photo etch. I would say I pay on the average of about $45 for kit and p.e.. The kit isn't even open yet. Most of the kits I buy need carbon fiber decals, that's another cost. I know I'm not the only one to use after market decals! I also buy window paint masks for the kits that don't have them and if they are made for a kit I have. Otherwise I go through a lot of Tamiya tape to make my own. It all ends up as Mark and the others have said. You buy and build whatever you like and you determine how much your going to spend. A phrase I hear a lot is, at least your family knows where you are, you could be sitting in a bar, and what have you got to show for yourself then? Chris
  11. Len, I believe Hiroboy is the exclusive distributor right now. I believe I linked them for you on your other thread. Chris
  12. I'm with Bob here. Although I did enjoy watching the F1 race this morning. I think they could drop all of the Pinks, Unique Whips, Pass Time, Drag Race High, Livin' the low life and Supercars. They then could fill those holes with all the racing that goes on in this tiny world of ours. They need to bring back Friday Night Drive In as well. Chris
  13. Wow, nice work Tim! That 386 is really sweet. Chris
  14. Len, that looks great! I love the color and you are right the interior sets it off too. It seems those snap kits are really nice and getting nicer. That should look great in your sons room. Chris
  15. Josh, Great work! I'd have to say that the 69 Camaro has to be one of the kits everyone should build. I'm with Bill though, I have yet to build one, but my son has built two. Nice job! Chris
  16. Mal, I've bought paint from Hiroboy a few times and have never had any problems. I'm not sure what if any problems you'd have getting it shipped to Australia. I think the problems occur when people order a lot of paint. I usually have two or three colors and some clear. Hopefully someone from Australia can post if they have had any experience. Chris
  17. Thanks Bob. I actually did that test before I asked my questions, hence the post here and now. I used Westley's and denatured alcohol. And as you can see from my post about the hood, those were not the cleaners to use. I have yet to get the easy off out and try it. I'll try it out this weekend though. Chris
  18. Oh Billy, I didn't want to hear that, but I can tell you this. I have a spare resin hood from that kit and thought I had it cleaned. So I went ahead and sprayed some Tamiya primer on it and it just flakes off. This is going to be a long battle.... Chris
  19. I've been patiently awaiting the Audi. Glad to see it's finally available. Chris
  20. Mark, the little sheet I got with the body says, and I quote,"Parts must be washed off with soap(Westley's white wall cleaner),and alcohol to remove mold release." It appears from that statement you have to use Westley's and alcohol. So it's a double whammy! I think I'll stick to the easy off and prep-sol. I don't want to line my shop full of cleaners too. It's already stuffed full of paint, tools, kits and general "stuff". Mark, I didn't realize you were a novice as well. I'm glad I posted as I hope it will help others too. Chris
  21. Len, if you'd like to pull out all doubt then Click this link Chris
  22. Bill, thanks for the hot water tips. I had a feeling hot water would do something to the body, so I was using luke warm water so as not to wreck or twist something that shouldn't be. Again, guys, thanks for all the tips and help. I really appreciate it. Chris
  23. Mark, I gotta tell you I always enjoy your posts. I could print out a book with everything you post. I think that's what I enjoy. I was hoping you had some insight on cleaning and prepping too, but alas, you did not. Anyway, I hope that working on this resin piece doesn't kill it for me as I know their are a few other pieces I would like to try. I certainly understand what a person is getting into when purchasing resin, but I did not realize the amount of work to clean the body of "flash", filling of holes, re-scribing, cleaning and prepping. Lots of work. It is especially more difficult when the piece you are doing is not yours, but for someone else. Extra care has to be taken. The request was for me to build it as a convertible in the 69 Trans Am color scheme. I thought about it hard and after working on the body, which by the way is still not in primer, let alone cleaned, let him know that I wasn't even going to fool with cutting the top. I need more experience with resin before I start major surgery. Thankfully he was fine with that and told me no rush as he NOW understands the hurdles I am dealing with. I guess I'm just not ready to let go of the plastic yet.... Oh, and Mark, keep posting your stories. I enjoy them. Chris
  24. Len, I used Camel Yellow on mine. CLICK HERE to see mine. I was pretty convinced that this color was close, but must agree with Ismael. I think the 06's were a hint lighter. I'll have to get some shots of this outside to see its true color. Hopefully the pictures will help you make your decision. Chris
  25. Ismael, So sorry to hear of your loss..... Gone but not forgotten: Their you go. A full bottle to keep near your desk. I'm on my last bottle and a half. May I ask what your other alternatives are? I've been using some of the Zero clear with great results. In fact it reminds me of CC's clear. I did not know Leon was a LEO! I hope he comes back in and says HI. One of the nicest after-market guys I've dealt with. Chris
