  1. Hey guys, thought I would let you know that Michael's is running a 50% off coupon this week. Remember this works on clearance items, not sale items. Also, The stores are now starting to re set their model and paint sections. Just an FYI. Chris
  2. Minnesota checking in. I thought the lines were just getting rusty, slowing down my speed. But now that I see you guys are having problems, the lines must be clean. Dreadfully slow here as well. Chris
  3. Lowww, Fattt and very cool! Nice work! Chris
  4. Here we have the Revell on the left and the JADA on the right: And their you have it. If you want a nice Z06 model go with the Revell kit. If you want to have a cool Corvette Custom project hit the JADA piece. Chris
  5. So,with the great reviews that Bob and others have been giving the new JADA Mustang, I thought I would hit the HL 30% off sale and grab a Corvette Z06. Looking at it right from the box it looks pretty good. I don't believe it's detailed as well as the Mustang. It does have the shiny white plastic. Each tree is individually packaged. Pretty toy like. I'm going to have to say this one was probably done from their diecast mold. Its body is big and bulky and not as refined as the Revell offering. Engine detail is lacking. Pretty much a square piece of plastic with a cover. Headlights are molded separately from the body. The wheels and tires are monstrous! One thing I do like is that the rear tail lenses are already painted in clear red and yellow. Brakes are all inclusive but well detailed and could really pop out with dome drilling and dry brushing. My kit touts a whopping 71 pieces. I was really hoping to see something much better, akin to the Mustang if you will. As my title suggests, I am underwhelmed with it. However, it'll be good fodder for a custom, or something for my son to do. Here are the parts with a body comparison between the Revell and the JADA piece at the bottom. Decals: Parts: Continuation on post 2
  6. Hey gang, just wanted to drop a note and let you know that March 29th will be the third annual SCMM IPMS show located in Fairmont at the Five Lakes Center(read shopping Mall). Here is the flier: Here is the link for Their first show. And here is the link for Their second show. Hope to see some of you! Chris
  7. Peter, At first I wasn't sure if it was really close. Well, I went to my pictures of the one I took at the Minneapolis Auto Show and all I can say is WOW, you've really nailed it. I'm in awe at your hard work and scratch building. Totally amazing. Definitely worth your effort. Chris
  8. Looks like you have a really nice start on it. Looking good. I look forward to seeing it finished! Chris

That looks pretty good Clay. My son just finished putting his kit together. Not sure if he's going to decal it though. His is Daytona yellow. He also hasn't bmf'ed, I think he's scared too since he here's me cuss at it all the time. LOL Chris
  10. James, I took the opportunity to print this out direct from Bob Downie. I ought to make a scan of it and post it whenever this comes up. Anyway, here is an excerpt of what Bob has written about Tamiya clear. "Spray the color then immediately prepare to spray the clear. Have can ready before you apply the color. After spraying the color, give yourself a few minutes to rest, and check the finish. If it's satisfactory, you are ready to apply clear. Apply in light coats at first. If you don't spray the clear w/in an hour of color you have two choices... wait a month for the color to dry, or spray some more color over the previous coat.... then clear immediately." Thanks to Bob Downie for the information. Chris
  11. Nice work Scott! I really like it. Are those the Kranze LXZ's? They look great on there! Chris
  12. Ok, McLaren F1 And, everything on Bob's list, that ought to do it...... Chris
  13. Did I forget to mention: McLaren F1 Thank You. Chris
  14. Alright, I've narrowed it down and I'm going to keep on posting it. McLaren F1 Thank you. Chris
  15. Absolutely perfect Jim. You have some amazing builds. I look forward to your next racing project! Great work! The bits of rubber on the front cowling look very realistic. Just amazing. Chris
  16. Thanks for the list John/Tom. Hopefully these re-issues will bring in some money for a new tool. At least this will get things going. Chris
  17. It was a really interesting race. It appeared that Kimi was just learning to drive. The new rules or lack of common things they had last year look like it will make the racing more interesting. I enjoyed it and look forward to Malaysia. Chris
  18. Friends and I headed up to the '08 Minneapolis Auto Show yesterday with our normal stop at Hooter's for lunch and a side trip to a hobby shop. As usual a good time was had by all. The MAS is supposedly the 7th largest new auto show in the nation. Some nice stuff for sure and lots of expensive stuff too. Here are a few pics to whet your appetite with more at my link. You can view all 235 pictures at MY FOTKI Lighting was really hard to get a handle on. Each display was either really bright or really dark. I was trying to keep up with the changes with the camera, but as you can see it was hit and miss. But please enjoy my pics! Chris
  19. I don't mean to rain on your guys' antique parade, but I'd really like to see Hasegawa/Tamiya or Fujimi punch out a McLaren F1 road car. Although I do like Bill Geary's choice's as well. I'm just more into modern exotics at this time. As great as the Hasegawa 250TR looks, I'm passing on it. The car does nothing for me. Although I know the importance of this car to Ferrari, *gulp* I don't care for the lines at all. Maybe I need to see a real one to appreciate it much better as the 2D pictures I see just do not flatter it at all. And hey, that's just my opinion. I really look forward to seeing some stellar builds out of here. Chris
  20. Clay, actually I was wanting to know how the kit went together. Pretty smooth or lots of work to get it together. That type of thing. Thanks for the brief history on the trucks though. The USA-1 Monster trucks was probably one of the first trucks I remember seeing as a kid. Seeing it in Kit from just brings back childhood memories. Again, thanks for your time! Chris
  21. That looks great Tom. Certainly a great piece for a racing legend and Icon. I look forward to your 88 Monte Carlo. That has to be one of my most favorite rides he had. I don't watch much NASCAR now that he's gone. Chris
  22. I'm no different than the majority. I too work on the body first. Research is another tool. I've got many pictures referenced for builds coming up. I'm just not prepared to build them at this point. But, body first and then I usually like to hi the interior with engine being last. Chris
  23. Scott, that is absolutely phenomenal! My all time favorite Ferrari. I'm not a fan of red Ferrari's except for the 365! Those Borrani wheels look amazing. The paint is flawless and the interior is dead on. I'll send you a couple of kits for trade, whaddya say???? LOL Lastly, IMPRESSIVE! Congrats on the most deserved awards. I have a bunch of 365 kits, but want to hone my skills much more before I delve into them. This is a great inspirational build to look at and learn from. Thank you for sharing! Chris
  24. Thanks Clay. If you do get more time to elaborate on it I would appreciate it. Of course don't let that get in the way of spending time with the misses or more modeling! Chris
  25. Gregg, are you sure you'll make it with just plain tickets? I thought you needed to buy airline tickets?? Have fun guys, I look forward to many pictures. Don't forget June 7th is NNL North! Chris
