  1. Well, at least that ine would make for a quick death if something went really wrong.
  2. My Jeep can be a bit tough to see the ground through the engine bay and has tight areas, but it has that long AMC I-6 in the bay that was originally designed for GM's craptacular 2.8l 60º V-6. Makes working by the radiator and fire wall a bit tight.
  3. I think it's a few things, #1. To pretty up an otherwise fairly ugly engine (I'll post pics of the Pentastars with and without the cover) #2. Some sound deadening, can't be much though, especially the big plastic tray like my 200 has on it. #3. Might convince some more easily scared do it yourselfers to just bring it back for what ever it needs besides oil changes. #4. It just might have some effect on the emissions and mileage by retaining heat in the intake during the winter, although I've seen it kill power above 75º-80º in my car when burning Chicago emissions blend 87 octane regular. The difference is enough that before switching over to regularly running E85 in it, I seriously thought about pulling that cover to try and drop the intake air temps. E85 seems to let the engine run cooler and might have a positive cooling effect on the air temps when it's mixed with the incoming air..........not to mention that the Pentastars seem to also love the extra octane too, no complaints from me there
  4. That Veyrone ain't floatin', that's all the deeper the water was. Don't those things weigh 5-6k pounds?
  5. Yea, sounds like you got that dead right Charlie!
  6. Hard to say, sometimes we're so busy we hardly have time to breath, others are painfully dead in multiple ways, others it's one of the prior broken up by the other on occasion. On the coworker front, it shouldn't be bad, nobody on scheduled that makes you want to intentionally mis-use an X-Acto knife.
  7. I do find it funny that NAPA Seems to be concerned with how this "cheatting" scandal will make them look, but the whole genre of racing originated with drivers who historically made money violating state and federal laws, and in the following years had cheating become a cat and mouse game played with the tech inspectors.
  8. Pretty much everything but the Ford emblem, they were almost completely different cars on most ways beyond styling too IIRC.
  9. I'll be working tomorrow, won't be going.
  10. Not that I know of Carl, those distributers do give a better price to HTU's than other shops, but not much, the stores can buy non exclusive products like Traxxas', but stuff like Revell can only be bought via Great Planes. Outside of slightly better pricing, GP doesn't do much for HTU or independant shops, not only are they a supplier, but via Tower Hobbies and Plastic-Models, they are a competitor tjat sells for a discount. If WalMart did that, people would be making noise over it.
  11. I rarely shop there anyway, Usually just oil filters for my Jeep (Napa filters are made by WIX!), usually if the Jeep needs parts, I've tended to prefer Mopar Parts and they don't carry the brand of brake pads I preferred either.
  12. Oh, almost forgot, I was looking to do a little putty work on a Monogram 1/24 '56 Chevy I've been tinkering with and went to grab a tube of Squadron White Putty........and it was solid, so I found a nearly used up tube, also solid, dug up some Testors Putty............guess what, it too was even more solid than the Squadron tubes! Luckily I still have one much fresher tube left, although that took some digging to find.........not to mention I forgot I had it
  13. That happened here in West Chicago back in '07. A storm blew in and just as Dad looked out the window before shutting dow the computer incase a storm hit, then suddenly all of the braches on the trees in the back yard bent down from a sudden downburst of wnd and the power and land line went out, followed by rainy calm....... Mom, Dad and I spent the next couple days cleaning up the yard and waiting for the phone and power to get turned back on (neighbor's tree had repeated been a problem until last November when ComEd came out and moved the line). My sister had moved outfor a while and wad ok,but suddenly got a panicked call from a cousin of ours (and who's Mom is our Mom's older sister) called her because they had been trying to call us to make sure we were ok but couldn't get through and didn't have Dad's or my cell numbers either. They can get WGN News in Iowa apparently the Police Chief got had a press conference where he said the town got hit by a tornado. Needless to say, Mom's family back in Iowa was a bit worried until they tried to call........and since our phone was out and they couldn't get ahold of us, that turned to panic!!!
  14. Geez, did the bearing seize up?
  15. Should have used this on my last thread here!
  16. Interesting, I may have that Elco kit around here (no way of molding it though), I'll have to go and look for that paper at HD, and I had been looking at the corregated siding at work yesterday, but bought Evergreen 1/2 Round stock instead. Thanks Bill!
  17. The above said, I do like the chromed badging, it would look a whole lot better on my '98 than the current lettering ever did, even when new!
  18. It is a few steps above the competion, it actually is an off road vehicle........however, seems the could have relaced the Patriot and or Liberty with this then brought out a more deserving of being called Cherokee. Why not build a unibody wagon that is loosely based around the Wrangler's drivetrain and suspension without being as stupidly big and heavy as the 4dr JK Wrangler.
  19. Just wondering if there is a good tutorial for doing a Tuck and Roll interior?
  20. That's pretty cool, what kit is needed to complete that?
  21. Think I broke a toe when getting ready for work (slid on the wet bathroom floor and hit a corner of the wall)............and I work retail, so the only time I had to sit down once I got there was lunch, a bathroom break, and when finishing up closing paperwork at the end of the day..........and of course, it was on my birthday too.............happy birthday to me...............
  22. Hey now, he was just a tech, not the bean counter that engineered that part
