  1. Um, I think those might be the roof......and maybe the quarter panels too
  2. BTW, you guys ever see what an acetylene tank will do to a car http://www.google.com/search?q=acetylene+explosion+in+car&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=I_HoUau-KuXEyQHdv4DACg&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=641
  3. Not the first time "ve heard about this happening, there was something about a 4th gen T/A that had that happen as well as a Nissan Maxima, and the Maxima was parked in the owner's garage! Personally, I'd prefer boost and/or displacement over laughing gas, you don't need to find someplace to refill your turbocharger or supercharger and you have the power when you want/need it, not when a bottle taking up trunk space isn't empty.
  4. From what I can find Skip, it's an old Auburn replicar. It belongs to James Hetfield of Metallica, who found it as a basket case and had Rick Dore build it like this. There doesn't seem to be much infpo out there on it other than pictures though, these are about all I could find. http://www.streetrodderweb.com/features/1136srp_1936_glenn_pray_auburn_852_speedster/viewall.html http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2009/11/james-hetfields-boat-tail-speedster.html Personally, I love how it looks!
  5. That looks good!
  6. I think the reason some of the old cars look better than the current racers is that they were actually painted instead of covered with vinyl stickers.
  7. That looks pretty neat, nice looking 911!
  8. Anymore when I hear the name Charger, this tends to be the first thing to cross my mind............... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=&FVSEARCH=battery+chargers&search=Go
  9. Sorry, had an issue with my first post.
  10. These are actually of my Axial based, ProLine bodied '92 Cherokee "scaler" being beat on.
  11. From what my Dad has told me, his Dad had one back when those were fairly new! Also be happy it doesn't have the stock headlights and electrical. I was telling him about some of the people complaining about the "bad" headlights on the Chrysler 200's (they're actually really good once aimed higher than stock, far better than anything sealed beam I've owned prior), and he said he'd love to see and hear these people complain about it after driving Grampa's stock '41 Chevy, those were 6 volt electrical and used a replaceable bulb that was similar to untinted turn signal bulbs (like the 1157 bulbs)! Probably put out more light than a Lucas headlight, but only because it was likely more reliable.
  12. Nice little Focus, is that one of the Flex Fuel cars too? I hear those will still get mileage in the mid-30's on E85!
  13. IIRC, that import tax thing was that Chrysler had a certain length if time before they had to pay the import taxes on those bodies since they were made out of country or destroy them before that date. I honestly don't know why they didn't have to pay those taxes up front, the turbine project was partially funded by the Department of Energy pretty much from the time it started after the end of WW2 until they went bankrupt in the late 70's or right before that. I don't know what ended up happening with that tech, but they also had ties to the development of the Abrams Tank, so I've been wondering if their turbine design found it's way into that.
  14. Those actually had a gas turbine engine designed for automotive use and they did something similar with those like GM did With the EV-1 by putting them in customer's hands for real world testing. Sadly, they went the same way of the EV-1 and most were crushed, then of the surviving few, most were disabled so they were no longer actually driveable
  15. I kinda figured you were, that's pretty much one of the downsides of the inferior front suspension on 4wd or AWD trucks......besides poor suspension articulation, poor ground clearance, ect.
  16. That was probably his third pair that week ;p
  17. And that is still dependant on the type of front suspension. We've had 4 XJ Cherokees and a ZJ Grand with the 4.0l I-6 and the NP or NV 242 full time transfer cases, none of which have ever shown torque steer in the full time 4wd mode. They all have used a solid front axle though and those don't really get that like an independant front car or inferior front truck.
  18. Torque Steer is when the steering wheel gets pulled hard to one side (usually to the right) under hard accelleration........usually while trying to rip the wheel right out of the driver's hands.
  19. What's the torque steer like in that Lincoln Mikey?
  20. I've only seen these kits with the same basic 70's truck small block, even the 80's A-Team one. Also, while I don't know about back in the 70's, but these vans could be ordered with the TBI 454's in the 90's (A-Team van and 454SS truck kits would work well there )
  21. Since R2 is bringing the AMT Pacer back out, it should be possible to convert the 258 I-6 in that into a 4.0l I-6 or even cut that down into the Jeep 2.5l OHV I-4 (which is a chopped down 258 ) then one of the milder Torqueflight 3 speed autos (I think it's the 904) for an automatic equipped TJ or a 700r4 if you're modeling a modded TJ. I'm not sure where to go for the 5 and 6 speed manuals as I can't remember which ones they used, but I think they might have been the AX-15 and NV4600.
  22. IIRC, most if not all cargo vans still can be had with or without windows in the back doors, I've also seen several current Chevy and GMC cargo vans that have smaller than factory and most likely aftermarket back windows installed in those doors...........and look like garbage that way too! BTW, how were those tickets written? IIRC here in Illinois, all vehicles have to have at least 2 useable mirrors, so long as those vans had mirrors on both front doors, they should be legal.
  23. What's up with the Corvair?
  24. Is that Steve McQueen I see here dancing the Watusi? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_q7ta3qfQBCU/S6IKhCbb0DI/AAAAAAAAA5s/rYG80q7H3Kc/s1600-h/Steve+McQueen+and+Luci+Baines+Johnson+Do+The+Watusi2.jpg I guess so.
