Apparently the mods on Forza Horizon have just perma-banned a whole mess of gamers from online multiplayer play for "modding" and/or using "traffic" cars. I should be good (won't get a chance to plat until mid week), anybody on here with it?

Emissions test part II
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ah, I didn't know we had extended limited use plates now too! I knew we had limited use plates that were 3-5k, just couldn't remember exactly how many miles it was. -
Fiat 500 Gets A Makeover

Honestly, I kinda dig the little car......in the full on mentalness of a Lambo engine stuffed in a car not much larger than itself sort of way.............. -
Fiat 500 Gets A Makeover
Joe Handley replied to MikeyB08's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No point in an expensive paint job on it, seeing as it's got a Lambo motor in it, the engine will probably catch fire and burn the car to the ground sooner or later................. -
Emissions test part II

Does having collectors plate on it limit the miles driven per year? -
Emissions test part II
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Kinda got a point, most "hobby cars" are probably going to be well kept, some will be heavily modified and probably not as clean a steam locomotive burning the more sulfur heavy coal, there's ones that are likely more like barely maintained beaters that happen to be old enough fall within the "hobby car" rules. -
Emissions test part II
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When Illinois was still doing the tailpipe testing, they didn't care about the mods, so long as it blew clean and and looked like it had functioning cat(s) on it. I seem to remember a few if the Turbo Dodge guys around here talking about getting their modded 2.2/2.5l turbo cars to pass smog with gutted amd straight piped cats. On a side note, I was joking with one of our R/C customers yesterday that now that my 200 is running on E-85 I wouldn't have to worry about it passing emissions tests..........just have to be careful with roadside sobriety checks though, pretty sure a cold start on the stuff would peg a breathalizer machine -
Why not? Saturn Sky / Pontiac Solstice
Joe Handley replied to Cato's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's just not Buicks here, seen plenty of Toyota (mainly Camry and Prius owners) as well as Honda Accord and stock Civic owners. -
Now I like those! The second one is more like what I was thinking but needs a bit of a side cove worked in, or at least a nod towards one. That said, look at the Mustang II vs the Fox Body Mustang as far as a nod to the past. The Mustang II was chocked full of them but kind of an insult to the Mustangs before and after........probably should serve as a warning from history for Ford. The Fox Bodies only shared the name, some of the badging, and the basic drivetrain layout with the others, but really was an improvement in appearance and performance without "looking like a Mustang".

I like it so far. Change the front end a little so the headlights are "taller" and the grill a bit more "square", add some sort of scoop like depression to the sides, and reshape the fenders and quarters to have a slightly raised "edge" ala C-6&7 Vette's and it would be more Mustang like without looking like yet another rehash of the '64.5-'69 Mustang.

I've had mine a year and a half and about all I'm good at is using the web browser and frying batteries in it!

Play-Doh 3D Printer

Is that like the DJ's in Florida that caused the Dihydrogen Monoxide in the water supply scare yesterday? -

LOL, I wondered how that was going to work! -
Coversion kits of the 90's-00's
Joe Handley replied to mnwildpunk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Didn't realize that Stude conversion was a kit, done with the right paint, it should look decent if it did. Always thought the Shoebirds looked good too. Now that S-Truck conversion, somebody needs to be smackex for that disaster! -
When the "solution" is the problem!

Which facility did you use Harry? When they probed the pre-OBD2 cars with and without the dyno, I took my Lebaron and Shadow to one in Aurora until they died. Once I bought the Jeep and had to get it scanned instead, I've gone to the one in Naperville instead. A lot of the time, I've turned the Jeep off while wating in line (and will do the same with my 200 when that needs it), but was always afraid to do so with the turbo cars since they had to have the actual emissions tested and wanted to keep their cats as hot as possible prior to the probing. I do think we have it a little easy here in Ilinois though, no state inspection, $100 or so per vehicle for yearly registration (no matter the age or mileage, only thing that matters is GVW and not even until you get into bigger trucks), even state gas tax is only $.20 a gallon compared to toll road less states (Iowa is cheap at $.21 for gas for comparison)! We do have a pretty high population density here too, wouldn't be surprised if 1/4-1/3 of all motor vehicles in the state are registered between the Lake and Dekalb Co. either. -

I like the new look, but the hood vent reminds me of the one my Lebaron had............ -
Round 2 Purchases Lindberg/Hawk
Joe Handley replied to Art Anderson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't mind the reissues, at least if those that might be some of the more wanted kits and can be put back into production at a reasonable cost, that will at least give a war chest for them to fix tools that need more work to make useable, expand their catalogs by purchasing and reviving other old tools, and hopefully getting the rights to produce new kits that aren't unassembled promos. -
Wonder how long..............
Joe Handley replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They have limited the range to ensure the packs last the whole warranty period. IIRC, the car only uses half of the available power from the battery for that reason. They also have the ESC programed so that the car behaves like it has a normal engine in it vs violent low end grunt the moment you tough the pedal. Wouldn't put LS motor in one, that kinda defeats the purpose of having an electric car........not to mention how much work it would take to fit one in the Volt/Cruze/Verano platform. -
Wonder how long..............
Joe Handley replied to Joe Handley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'd be surprised if there isn't a way to crack the computer to bump voltage, extend range, alter generator settings, ect to get more out of a stock Volt. Even if they went as overboard on encrypting the ECU as Chrysler apparently has on the Pentastar equipped cars, there could be as much if not more of a desire to retune these as there is for my 200 (for example). Most would probably want to extend battery operation range (GM has left a lot on that table) or set it up to burn a higher percentage of ethanol to use even less gasoline than they already are...........however, somebody will probably want to disable the mph limiter (which is set at 101mph), bump the voltager running to the motor, then fiddle with the speed control and throttle curve settings like you can with some R/C's to get better power and responsiveness out of them. I figure it's only a matter of time............ -
Before somebody does this in real life......................... I put this together on Forza 4 for the heck of it, fully built suspension, front aero splitter, bigger rolling stock, better electronics and hot rodded the generator. So.................Anybody else wondering how long before somebody does something like this in real life?

New Retro E-Type Jaguar design.
Joe Handley replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like the looks of these retro E-Types, but I'd take that Eagle first for that kind of money!
