That's why I brought that up earlier in the thread, short of that Tesla swap I mentioned, I don't know of any suitable transaxles for it other than Porsche's.

It's surprisingly common, don't know why. I would want to go drive it myself before laying money on it.

If Injust wanted something I could park and listen to the ooohhhhsss and aaahhhhsss while being good for not much else, A would be fine. If I wanted something I could actually drive and enjoy my time in the car while it's on the move, B....all day long.

Apparently this dealer group (multiple brands) tends to play dirty with all sorts of brands and maybe when in combination with that, as well as selling car that could burn down and potentially taking a home with it, had an exhaust gas leak that could cause CO poisoning and who knows how much havoc that could create, as well having a suspension problem that was also serious enough to be a significant part of this lawsuit on top of all that to a sucker out of state by misrepresenting it to him and the broker he worked with. While not so instant, Kharma will hopefully be visited on this group in full.

Engine placement is why I'm kinda liking that Tesla motor/gearbox swap Bill. It's small enough that they should be able to position battery cells closer to the firewall and hopefull put as many as possible in place of the gas tank and even in the frunk to try and balance out any of the crazy that rear motor brings to the table.

And could be the same people you buy both from, the Mercedes dealer that sold that death trap is one of those Auto Groups that sells multiple brands and there are people in the comments of that storie that have been screwed over by that group when buying lesser cars.

I kinda figure that $5m must have been due to the number of potentially fatal issues the car was delivered with. Just the two different "gas leaks" alone could be fatal in a vehicle that is not going anywhere, but throw in any potential handling issues, that could create a trifecta of fails that could cause mayhem if they tag teamed the driver.

I'm wondering how well any generation of 911 trans might work in this situation. Not as possible with the Delorean vs the 911, Air Cooled VWs, or Corvairs. Those seem to have more room between the front seats and rear wheels unless you want to swap a Tornado FWD set up in tbe back.

He notices a gasoline smell and takes it to shop that specializes in these kinds of cars and they find a leaky fuel pump (gasoline leak), cracked exhaust manifold (CO leak), and suspension problem (not sure how bad). Buyer sues dealer and wins to the tune of $5m!

When I was still going and running my Crawler R/C trucks, I was always finding garbage, and especially fishing line (usually wrapped around an axle). Some of it woud wash up on shore near the river I like to run by, some was left by picnickers or sport fishers when there were cans you walked past to get you your car. Always irritated the daylights outta me.

Could be aero related, kinda like the guys who cut holes in the back bumpers of their late model race cars, reduces any potential parachute like effect that would be created by having those areas solid.

I think Pete here has a point, I've seen people pay more attention to their phones while driving and I was pretty sure one was intoxicated until I realized the inside of the car was glowing from the phone, the other was pulling onto I-355 from an entrance ramp and was looking at his phone the whole time.....upon seeing the side of that poor little Kia Soul all wrinkled up and the guy driving looking at his phone, I let the horses run and got away from him as quick as 283 of them would let me! As far as the bluetooth thing, those are still optional, my 2012 200 doesn't have it, nor did that 2018 Journey I had last week, even thought it was new and had less than 3000 miles on it and we have a hands-free law. I know I can't wait for self driving cars Now before I have to dodge tomatos, hear me out! Reason I'm looking forward to them is that with the drivers I mentioned above and others who would generally prefer to be doing anything other than driving their car moving into those as they become available and more affordable, then you should have a car that will be more predictable in it's behavior and more likely to keep right while running on multilane roads and less likely to speed up if you want to pass them on a 2 lane road when it's safe to do so.

If the new kit comes with those parts, I would consider buying it

People seem to keep missing out on what Rob is talking about here, it's not just that Detroit is abandoning sedans and small cars due to their's "not being competitive", Sedans just aren't selling in the numbers that had been, even the Camry and Accord are seeing their sales dropping off and things are even worse for 2drs.

Yup, that Journey I had from the dealer last week was just a tall, chubby, wagon version of my 200 with AWD. Other than being a little dead of the line (not sure if that was drivetrain weight, vehicle weight, some sort of programmed in lag with the throttle, torque management when compared to my 200. Oh, just spotted this, dropped a bit, just like I thought the trucklette felt like could use! vs Stock

The '32-'34 Fords, Tri-5s, Early Camaros and Mustangs as well as the '68-'70 Chargers are all "big" enough to sell to all generations, even if they're over saturated. The Midget didn't do that well I thought. The '50 Olds did do well, but I think the '83 will do better since there is a broader market, much like the above cars, vs the '50 Olds.

If you have a flip phone, you can still be tracked from you phone pinging off cell towers, just like a certain NY lawyer that's been in the news lately.

Don't dump that on just the Millenials, anybody who buys one because they can't be seen in a station wagon or minivan....then though it's just a fat station wagon that's the size of a minivan, want the higher seating position, or "need 4wd/AWD and 2ft of ground clearance for when there's 5ft of snow", even though they live in your neck of the woods. Then there are the Boomers that are buying them since they're easier to get into than cars/wagons but not a minivan and ride better than a proper SUV. That's pretty much killed anything that's a better option. Had to have my 200 at the dealer for a couple days for some cooling system and HVAC work done, I had a Journey SE-AWD as a loaner. It's built on the same plarform as the 2008-2014 Avenger, 2008-2010 Sebring, and 2011-2014 200 (like mine). It drove like a taller, fatter 200 and is basicly the wagon version of the Avenger. What did make it interesting though, was that if you just get the FWD Journey SE, you can only get the 170hp 2.4l, 4 speed auto and soft suspension, and 17x6.5 steelies,with plastic caps. In otherwords, it is as stripped down as you can get for a modern car. The AWD adds the 283hp 3.6l and 6 speed auto like my 200 has as well as a similarly tuned suspension, but other than the dual chromed dual exhaust and \4\ badge on the hatch, it looks just like the FWD SE, throw the "Blacktop" package at it and it could be kind of a SuperBee like CUV. It felt like it could use about 2" or so less altitude, 18x8-19x9 wheels with shorter wider tires, and maybe the spring rates and sway bars from the GT (formerly R/T) model to make it more interesting.

That will likely sell far better than a mid 60's Fairlane.
