Wal-mart has models again...
Danno replied to model-collector's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You just gotta hope you don't run into MartinFan5(5) shopping in his birthday suit! -
Oh, yeah. Almost forgot (well, I try to forget them), I also have 3 of the Ford Taurus kits, one 9-1-1 and two Robo Cops. But don't hold that against me.

Okay, okay. You've got me on the Monacos. I have 6 less than you. We're even on the Force 440s and '70 Fords. Likewise on the Squad Rod and the Caprice ProMod slammer. I won't have the 1/20 Camaro (I'm a scale bigot). I've got you beat (by double) on the Crown Wicks. I have twice as many '67 Plymouth Pursuits. You have two more Yodels than I do. I don't have a Caddy Hearse but I have 4 of the Fire Rescue Ambulances. I've got you beat on the Caprices (3x as many) and Impalas (10x as many). And, I have 4 Vintage Police Car kits (Model T), 2 Vintage Fire Chief kits ('32 Vicky), and 1 each of the AMT early 70's Chevy van Paddy Wagon and Fire Rescue van. So, ya got any fire trucks and engines?

Actually, years ago the Lovely and Gracious Mrs. B and I lived in NE Scottsdale ... we had a mailbox at the nearby UPS Store ... so did Danica ... who just breaking into Indy cars big time and before she got married. She lived nearby, but definitely on THE OTHER SIDE of the "tracks." I used to run into Danica at the mailbox ... until the L&GMB was with me one day ... for some reason, she made it a point to pick up the mail every day after that ~ and told me there was no need for me to go down there! It was a whole lot more fun "running into" her than some of our other neighbors ... Fittipaldi, Rahal, Craig Jackson (lived 4 houses down the street), Craig Morton, Randy Johnson, Al Jardine, etc. ... although Jenna Jameson ~ well, that's another story. (Try as I might, I never did "run into" her!)

Still makes sense.

The JoHan / IMC / ModelKing '59 Rambler station wagon kit also has taxi gear (including the roof sign) and decals. -
Makes sense.

OMG! 1) There's an image I'll never be able to un-see .... Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggh!!!! 2) Wait ... didn't I see something about that on the news ... in the middle of an intersection in downtown Phoenix a few weeks ago? WAS THAT YOU??? 3) Hanging out with Randy Travis, now, are you? -
Yep. And, Don is correct ... the two-door tooling was modified to create the four-door kit ... I don't recall for certain at the moment (too early, too little coffee) but I believe the T.J. Hooker version was the first, with the Pukes of Hazzard being second in the series of issues/re-issues which culminated in the Gotham City/Joker Goon Car version. Regarding the T.J. Hooker kit and the Pukes kit, I could be wrong in the issuance sequence, my recall is fogged by the images of Heather Thomas and Catherine Bach every time I try to think about it. The Pukes version clearly shows the two-door's deck and hind quarters on a four-door cabin. Interesting box art faux pas.

Not only sand the hood, but you might try checking the radiator. It looks like it's too high and may be interfering with the hood, not allowing it to settle down low enough. Just a thought ... and hard to know for sure just from the pix. Aside from the hood issue, beautiful model. Terrific colors ~ body and interior and both together ~ and nice, clean build. It's just really hard to get around that hood ...

This is an incredible model. Pictures are amazing but don't even do it justice.

The Nationwide Impala looks more like an Impala than the Sprint Cup "Impala," which looks more like the Monte Carlo from which it was derived. Danica, on the other hand, looks a whole lot more like a gorgeous gazelle and would probably be a whole lot more fun. Anxiously awaiting the upcoming Nationwide Camaro and Sprint Cup SS.

Mayhaps, even, "Goodsporthopper."

Dodge/Chrysler/Fiat is just "clearing the air" while they tool up their new NASCAR racing car/platform effort. -

Vintage police equipment
Danno replied to charlie8575's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The "light bar" is not only too new but it is also NOT a realistic representation of any actual light bar. Beacons came along in the mid-50's. Light bars didn't happen until the 60's, and NONE of them looked like that thing. I don't know what "police equipment" that kit may have for the interior. I don't know what's in this kit because I've never bought one because it's just a toy-like cartoony caricature of a cop car. It is way too cartoon-ish. -
Does it really matter? Life is like a box of Hazzard chocolates ... you never know what General Lee you're gonna get. The General Lee is as the General Lee does.
-
Most recent release was many years ago in the "Force 440" version. It was issued earlier in production stock versions, but those are extremely rare. As it is, the Force 440 kit usually draws some tall bucks. This would be another great Round2 re-issue ....

How old, Charlie? Like everything, the era dictates the style, etc. How "early" is your friend's "early"? -
