When Danica was switching from Indy car to stock cars she was signed by JR Motorsports to drive for them. They built a ARCA car for her first driving test at Daytona in December 2009 (see 88 car pic). After the test, the car was renumbered to #7 for the ARCA Daytona race where she finished 6th in February 2010. (See #7 car).I want to build the 88 car. What would be the best starting kit for this project and who would have the best decals? I have a diecast of the #7 car already. Thanks.

The old "Deuce and a quarter" as she was known here in Motown! When men were men and women were women and bumpers were covered in chrome! It doesn't get any better than that ! Great build!!!

Very cool. Never knew the Camaro came with a vinyl roof back then. Never remember seeing one. Found a brochure and sure enough there it is. Great job.

That's how the Bodine's made their living. Whenever NASCAR needed a caution they would call on the Bodine's!!!!!!!!!!! -
I worked at Dodge Motorsports for 42 years (1966 to 2007) and was involved in NASCAR/NHRA/Viper engine development during that time. When we got back into NASCAR in 2001 we had to have enough parts to supply each team with 10 cars. That included short track, intermediate track, super speedway and test cars. We had 10 Cup teams at the time so that was parts for 100 cars. If Dallara becomes the one and only supplier for NASCAR that is about 400 cars (figure 40 teams) right out of the chute. That is a major undertaking for anybody, I don't care how much experience you. And they all have to be identical because NASCAR will be watching very carefully to make sure they are all the same. And on top of that there will be major layoffs for all the teams................that will hurt a lot of people. As far as a spec engine in Cup, NO manufacturer is going to run someone else's engine in their car !!!!! This came up around 2005 or so and everybody said absolutely not.

I have 2 sets. The first set is called the MOTORSPORTS Premiere set dated 1991 with 90 cards in the set. The second set is called the MOTORSPORTS After Market (AM series) dated 1992 with 90 cards in the set. It looks like they cover from the late 1960's to 1992. -

In my collection of "Motorsports model CARDS" it says to use Model Master 2719 Italian Red or Testors 1203 red. -
I reached out to the Jayski NASCAR page and they contacted NASCAR.......here is what they said. We haven’t found anything definite and NASCAR doesn’t seem certain either. This is the latest from NASCAR: I’m sorry to say I don’t know the origin of the rookie stripes in NASCAR or when the first stripes appeared. According to Indianapolis Motor Speedway historian, Donald Davidson rookie stripes were first applied for the Indianapolis 500 in 1950. I would imagine that was an influence on NASCAR but have not found the exact start of this tradition. NASCAR awarded their first Rookie of the Year title to Blackie Pitt in 1954, then did not present the award again until 1957 to Ken Rush. They have presented the award every year since. Some NASCAR tracks had special rookie orientation tests before a competitor can race. For instance, in 1985 4-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt was making his first career start at Darlington. NASCAR gave Foyt the opportunity to opt out of the orientation, but Foyt chose to participate to get the full Rookie experience. Most recently, in 2018 NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott wore Rookie stripes at Road America while making his first career start at that venue.
