  1. Here's more pictures. The frame is now complete. I'm just left with installing the fairings and decals:
  2. I just started this one. I started engine and frame assy and painting the fairings. I got some pretty good 1st coats. Tbe metallic blue was pretty easy, metallic colors always lay down smooth. White can be a bit orange peeled but this 1st coat of white came out really good. I just have to paint the metallic blue where the bottom fairing is masked on the sided: Box art: The kit; The frame already comes with the silver coating. And here is further progress on this bike: Here's an update on work I've done. I did some frame assy and heat stained the tuned pipes. I included a photo from the box side panel so you can see how the pipes have this foil covering on them so you don't think I did some cheesy job putting foil on them. It's not like BMF on chrome trim, doesn't need to be crinkle free. Box photo: Model photos:
  3. Nice build. I love building those Tamiya bikes. I have one under construction right now.
  4. Go to this channel on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9UUZIFvHRQPfDoCP-bTB7A He's got lots of scale modelling information including airbrushes, I watched a few already.
  5. I also find copper or brass make a good base coat color for it.
  6. You know what helps too? Using a hair dryer. I learned that from the Scale Motorsports instruction sheet. It, too helps soften the decal. Just use it a minute or so at a time, work the decal, then use it again as needed until you finally have the CF decal laid down right.
  7. Looks really nice, a cool custom. What will Ralph Nader say?
  8. Nice build. I built one of those kits as a beater car.
  9. I'm sure glad I don't belong to Face-book.
  10. Nice build, smooth finish.
  11. I recently finished this one:
  12. I remember seeing that movie in the theater when I was a kid. The chase scene had you stepping on an imaginary brake pedal. It's still an awesome chase scene and a good movie overall. I have my own copy on DVD.
  13. Well, when I lived on LI there used to be NY National Speedway in Center Moriches. I know since I've been gone there was a Long Island Dragway built. Is that gone too now? And now NJ has lost Englishtown? That sucks too. I'm sure glad I don't live there anymore.
  14. Well, it was a few days ago. I found out that I was NOT going to get laid off my job as last Feb. I was told I might get laid off by this Aug.
  15. Sorry to hear that. I saw him at a lecture in college back in '75.
  16. https://www.amazon.com/SUPER-DEAL-Light-Magnifying-Magnifier/dp/B07BF8Q2ZG/ref=pd_ybh_a_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=R5SQ713TM90361SNG8NT
  17. The lens is big and clear. No distortion in it. It's a glass lens too.
  18. I just got it from Amazon, you can also find it on Ebay. It uses LEDs and has a big lens that is 7.5" x 6.2". It's a 5 diopter (2.25 magnification). I replaced a round 5" florescent magnifier (same magnification) light that was a little shaky whenever I put it into position. This new one is rock steady. It has variable brightness too. It uses 9 Watts and is 680 lumens. The "buttons" on top are touch sensitive. In fact they will work when your finger is about 1/8" over them. Anyway, here's some photos.
  19. Sounds like a great tip! I've been using a hair dryer to free up the stuck lids, this way I don't have to grab and dent the lids with a pliers.
  20. Sure looks great!
  21. Beautiful work and nice display!
  22. Me too.
