Curtis Turner SCCA 1966 Mustang

Can the name of the museum be mentioned here? They say it’s in the “east” and that’s where I am. -

Does the 1:1 car use a “clear” spoiler or something else? -
Coca Cola Cameo kit
Oldriginal86 replied to Oldriginal86's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That’s the exact way mine fit. Thanks for the replies. -
My question is has anyone that owns this kit checked the windshield fit? The last one I built took so much time and bodywork to make the glass fit.

I’m 61 years young as they say now adays. Been building and more importantly buying since about 1969. I don’t think the kits should be the same price paid in the early years of my involvement in this hobby. With that said, I’m a builder not a collector. The crappy kits from MPC in the 60’s are still crappy kits of today and why anyone would pay more then $5.00 for that is beyond me. What I would like to see from the suppliers is more modern SUV’s and trucks of today. There hasn’t been a Brockway or a White Road Boss or an International 4070 on the road for 25 years. Let’s see a new Freightliner or International with an engine that has all the emission controls that we see on the road today. How many model A fords and barracudas do we need? I don’t mind paying my hard earned money for a new and interesting kit but I’m not about to buy a kit that I could have purchased for $2.25 years ago for $30.00 now. This is why this hobby is in trouble.

Well done! Local course or vacation? Playing at Compass Point with my son today, hoping to break 100.

Race Car Chassis

Hey, I resemble that remark being from just up the road in Pasadena. -
I just purchased two 3D printed Chevy engines from Texas 3D Concepts and was very impressed with the detail. On the website there is a “contact me “ button so I left a message that the 4.0 should be the next project to pursue.

One would think that someone would have made a 258 or 4.0 in resin or 3D printed.

Detroit Diesel engine project

Well done! Was there much cleanup on the parts or does it print them that sharp? -
Detroit Diesel engine project

They are correct for either but are as mentioned a more modern version. The rounded ones with the two big knobs are more correct for the era your going for. Glad to see there is interest in this project. -
Detroit Diesel engine project
Oldriginal86 replied to Oldmopars's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Cool project. I just received two 3D printed engines and the detail is amazing. I worked for Detroit for quite a few years and still have some service manuals if you need more pictures. This appears to be an 8V71 or 92. This engine is available in many of the older kits. Is there a possibility of adding a turbo and maybe make it a DDEC or electronic controlled? Next could be a Series 60 project. -
I know this is an older thread but I have a Testors paint rack I am no longer using. Any interest? Local pick up works as I don’t want to deal with shipping. $50.00 or trade for Jeep or pickup kits. Make an offer. I may come to the MAMA show in Havre De Grace, Md.

Great looking build. Looks fast setting there.

48 ford woody (gluebomb series) > rodded> 99% done pics
Oldriginal86 replied to crazyrichard's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This build is inspiring. Makes me want to add more detail to my build. I can't imagine rolling and laying the completed body upside down on the table. Would be worrying constantly about damage. Maybe I'm building backwards but the paint is the last step before final assembly. What do you do to protect? -

Any 4Bt or 6BT engines out there?

Not to hijack this thread but who makes and has available a Series 60 Detroit? -
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
Oldriginal86 replied to fscott201's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I agree they are popular. I bought one a few weeks ago and was a little disappointed in the lack of detail. Expecting to have a full engine and detailed running gear. There has been great builds on this forum. Waiting to see someone do a full detailed build before I start mine. Scott yours is looking great. -

I like this one. After my Cameo is finished I'll get back on it. I cut up the frame so much that I decided to make a new one. Keep up the good work. -

I have a '64 on the bench now. I'm going to save pictures of yours for inspiration. Interior detail is sweet. -

Cool build! It's fun to duplicate a car you had in 1:1. Is the next build Dads car? Diorama of the two? That would be awesome.
