Geez! Another Stocker! 70 Formula Firebird B/SA

Thanks, Roger. Got those on Shapeways last April before the bankruptcy. Glad I got 6 more then, as I don’t see them available now. Lesson learned: if you find something that works for you, don’t hesitate to stock up. -

You’re more than welcome, Roger. Love the Mallory (RevPol?) coil and driveshaft loop. Great follow through and glad you realize my comments were not of a derogatory manner. Now, if you would just refasten the passenger side forward mount for the ladder bar, I could sleep better tonight (lol). Be well.

Started modifying the front fender. Cut the fuel pump off. This is what the Formula should look like. Then, rounded up some of the aftermarket items used on this build. Cut the rear housing off the original rear end to use the aftermarket one that came with the Caltracs. Working on the Caltracs. Every time I use that double bladed saw, I am so glad I have it. Made cutting off the carb (1/2 at a time) a breeze. -
As usual, great stuff from Greg.

Removed the power steering pump and belt. Anybody know why the holes in the rear wheel wells? Deepened the front and rear windshield grooves. Will deepen the door panel lines tomorrow. -

Got the seam lines on the oil and trans pans mostly removed, then removed the exhaust from the rear end with the help of my great nippers and those outstanding mig sanding sticks. Glued the rear end halves together with the thicker Modelmaster glue to help fill some gaps. Will be a sad day when I run out of that stuff, as it is no longer available. -
These comments concern the Demon build. Man, there is a lot of work there! Did you forget to hook up the coil wire? No wonder it won’t start. Didn’t the rules require a driveshaft loop? The transition from primary pipes to collectors looks unusual? Do you have any interior pics? In closing, thank you for all the helpful comments you have made to other people on this forum (myself included). I hope you take these as constructive comments.

Finally got in contact with Greg Wann and he is going to make me a couple of hoods that should fit. We shall see. -

Noticed today one of the rear tires was angled slightly, so tried some Bsi un-cure to loosen the super glue bond. Didn’t help much, but moved it some, and I will live with it. -
Thanks, Nathan and Trevor. The slicks started with the amt 9” Goodyears. The front tires are essentially scratch built, molds made and cast. The wheels are much modified aftermarket ones. A lot of time was spent on the tires and wheels. The WIP I posted spells it out pretty good. As shown in the WIP, the paint job turned out really good. Unfortunately, I put some scratches in it by polishing it. I must have got some grit in it, and, on a black paint job, that was all it took. Lesson learned.

Your uplifting comments are always appreciated, Carl. Hope you have a great day.

I liked the brush on super glue so well I may try to scrounge up an empty Tamiya super thin cement bottle (and brush) and put some super glue in it. Might work better than applying it with a toothpick or needle type apparatus. -

Shot the slicks (plus some extras) with TS82 Tamiya rubber black spray paint. An interior pic. Had to paint the other side of the backing plates, so decided to use these long wooden, tapered, cotton q-tips on the inside hub. Worked pretty well. Will try to remember that for next time. Tried out the new Gorilla glue with the brush to glue the backing plates on. I like it. -

I really like it. We are our harshest critics. Nice seat work. Shifter looks awfully tall. Looks like he hit the brakes too hard after a hard short hop burnout and scrubbed some paint off the oil pan and bellhousing (lol). I hate bmf and am currently experimenting with alternatives. Thanks for posting. -

Thanks. Be advised, it took a while to get the headers (about a month, I think), as he doesn’t make them until he gets an order. -

Got the fenderwell headers in and painted with ts30. Also, painted backing plates and traction bars. -
Lookin good. I believe the gloss aluminum is a good choice as it is slightly darker than the silver leaf.

Sanded off the rear tires, then put some Tamiya putty on as there was some pretty deep gouges. While that was drying, I put some ink over the Tamiya panel wash. Looks better. -
Sweet headers. One of my least favorite things to do. What did you paint the carbs with? I like the TS30 for afb’s.
