  1. No primer on this car, by the way. After the gold base, I put 1 light coat of clear red on, paused 15 minutes, then a heavier coat, another pause of 15-20 minutes, then a heavier coat, then done. Covered it up. Almost forgot the ram air scoop.
  2. Did some painting today. Thought I would show some of the steps I take before painting the body. Warm up cans, spray water in the booth, wipe off body with alcohol wipes, finally Tamiya brush off. Then, hope for the best. Was doing okay, then the metallic burble on the top of trunk. Gonna let it dry a bit, then another coat. Hopefully, get the clear red on today, if it looks ok. Painting the ram air hood, but, hopefully the other dual snorkel hood will come sometime soon. Almost forgot, gotta dig out the scoop. Also forgot about my paint can spinner that I modified to fit the Tamiya cans. Invaluable tool.
  3. Stalled for a bit. Got the suspension ready for paint. Put some masking tape on for better wheel fit. Decided to modify the aftermarket hood .
  4. I am still waiting on Greg for the hood. When I get it, I will definitely post it on this thread.
  5. Now, that’s a pretty car!
  6. More small things done. Decided to leave the fender flares on and bent the one I had started to remove back in position. Put some modelmasters glue on to fill the gap. Glued the front and rear sections on. Also, the rear spoiler. Got some small parts ready for paint. Waiting on the dual scooped hood, but, getting antsy, and may go ahead and paint the body with the single scooped stock kit hood.
  7. Just got these a few minutes ago. I hope they will help me keep inventory and keep track of what works and what doesn’t. The master builder book (8x10) appears to be the most useful book to me, but the Modeller’s Logbook is smaller (5x7) and, perhaps, more workbench friendly.
  8. One of my many (sigh!) future builds to finish.
  9. Couldn’t resist this front end shot. Is that a mean looking front end or what? Worked on making the multileaf springs look more like Caltracs split monos. Careful trimming with my irreplaceable nippers, sanding with my 1:1 porting/sanding flaps, then ammo by mig 120 grit sanding stick.
  10. Nice!! Your wiring work (especially the MSD) is off the scale. I can’t think of a better person to pay homage to.
  11. Thanks, Roger. Got those on Shapeways last April before the bankruptcy. Glad I got 6 more then, as I don’t see them available now. Lesson learned: if you find something that works for you, don’t hesitate to stock up.
  12. Have you considered building this Dart?
  13. You’re more than welcome, Roger. Love the Mallory (RevPol?) coil and driveshaft loop. Great follow through and glad you realize my comments were not of a derogatory manner. Now, if you would just refasten the passenger side forward mount for the ladder bar, I could sleep better tonight (lol). Be well.
  14. Started modifying the front fender. Cut the fuel pump off. This is what the Formula should look like. Then, rounded up some of the aftermarket items used on this build. Cut the rear housing off the original rear end to use the aftermarket one that came with the Caltracs. Working on the Caltracs. Every time I use that double bladed saw, I am so glad I have it. Made cutting off the carb (1/2 at a time) a breeze.
  15. As usual, great stuff from Greg.
  16. Removed the power steering pump and belt. Anybody know why the holes in the rear wheel wells? Deepened the front and rear windshield grooves. Will deepen the door panel lines tomorrow.
  17. Got the seam lines on the oil and trans pans mostly removed, then removed the exhaust from the rear end with the help of my great nippers and those outstanding mig sanding sticks. Glued the rear end halves together with the thicker Modelmaster glue to help fill some gaps. Will be a sad day when I run out of that stuff, as it is no longer available.
  18. These comments concern the Demon build. Man, there is a lot of work there! Did you forget to hook up the coil wire? No wonder it won’t start. Didn’t the rules require a driveshaft loop? The transition from primary pipes to collectors looks unusual? Do you have any interior pics? In closing, thank you for all the helpful comments you have made to other people on this forum (myself included). I hope you take these as constructive comments.
  19. Got the front tires on after nipping off some of the stub that stuck out too far.
  20. Thanks, Roger. I keep plugging away at ‘em.
  21. Finally got in contact with Greg Wann and he is going to make me a couple of hoods that should fit. We shall see.
  22. Noticed today one of the rear tires was angled slightly, so tried some Bsi un-cure to loosen the super glue bond. Didn’t help much, but moved it some, and I will live with it.
  23. Thanks, Nathan and Trevor. The slicks started with the amt 9” Goodyears. The front tires are essentially scratch built, molds made and cast. The wheels are much modified aftermarket ones. A lot of time was spent on the tires and wheels. The WIP I posted spells it out pretty good. As shown in the WIP, the paint job turned out really good. Unfortunately, I put some scratches in it by polishing it. I must have got some grit in it, and, on a black paint job, that was all it took. Lesson learned.
  24. Your uplifting comments are always appreciated, Carl. Hope you have a great day.
