Hello, This is IT. The holiest of Holy grails. The one and only. The kit built with my heart, not my hands. Most likely my favorite single car of all time. I was supposed to retire from the hobby after this one This was finished last year. It is and will most likely always be my best and favorite build. Love them all, but the 2 Vettes and the '57 Chevy conv are my favorties I don't recall a '57 Chevy conv kit. Is that a conversion from the AMT? resin? Thanks,

Hello, I'm following Monoped's Ferrari 512. I love that car and it inspired me to continue working on this, althought from a different era: This is the Quick Skins resin IMSA Corvette GTP. This car raced between 1985 and 1989. In a nutshell, you can think of a candy like some kind of a tinted clear. A candy is a translucent paint applied over an uniform base, usually silver or gold, while a metallic is a paint that has small metallic particles in it that reflect light like small mirrors. Metallics can usually go over primer and a color basecoat is not needed. Pearls on the other hand are similar to metallics, but instead of having metallic particles, they use mica particles, which are translucent. In a candy color, the light goes thru the candy coat and bounces on the base, while in a metallic, the light bounces against the color but the metallic particles act like small mirrors diverting light rays in different directions. The common thing between them is that they usually need a clear top coat because sanding/polishing would distort the finish. Solid colors are easy to touch up, metallics are a bit harder, pearls and candies are next to impossible. Hope this helps. Thanks,

Glad to see the '67 Corvette coupe back. This is the first time it is reissued. The rest of the list looks good, but I have a question: Why in the world a Cadillac STS-V when all the attention is on the CTS-V? A CTS-V with the optional racing parts and Andy Pilgrim's decals would be hit. I know it's been developed elsewhere, but not in plastic for the masses. Thanks,

Hello, You are probably thinking it's a decal. But it is not. For the life of me I can't lay a decent decal even in a flat mirror. I hate decals, they hate me That's all paint. In fact, this is my first two tone paint job. The blue is Cobra Colors LeMans Blue and the white is Cobra Colors Arctic White, both Corvette factory colors. It would have been way much easier to mask everything and shoot the white only once. Oh well, I learned the lesson. Thanks,

Ken, Good start! I gave casting a try a few years ago and I actually ended up selling parts, but it was time consuming and the materials had a terribly short shelf life in my weather conditions. You don't want a vacuum chamber for the bubbles. On the contrary you want a pressure pot. I got one at Sears. You pour the resin into the mold then quickly put it into the chamber and pressurize it with a compressor. That should help take care of the bubbles. Hope this helps. Thanks,
