  1. Cool! Great job! I like what you did with the headlights. For me that is the biggest issue with this kit. All the added details really make a difference.
  2. Great looking Corvette! Reminds me of the famous astronauts golden Vettes.
  3. Hermoso! Te felicito!
  4. Thank you all for your nice comments. I really appreciate each and every one of them. I was trying to include the link to the progress thread but the dreaded 404 ERROR did not allow me to for over a day. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/139320-me-doing-a-ford-nahhh-really-lemans-ford-gt/ Thanks!
  5. WEPA! Nice! Still see a few of those around, but drivers are now more gray haired than in the 80's. Thanks,
  6. Beautiful job on a beautiful car with a beautiful color combo!
  7. Thanks Jonathan! Interesting! Is that bottle, spray can? enamel? lacquer? Thanks,
  8. Hello, DISCLAIMER: I'm using flat black instead of wasting a ton of money in carbon fiber decals that will not be seen. But 99% of what you see in flat black should be CF. Small update: Radiators, heat exchangers, coolers whatever you wanna call 'em... Thanks,
  9. Thanks guys! Matt, I used a few updated decals from an aftermarket set (side number boards, door markings and some little ones) but most are from the kit. I have to say the kit's decals are a real joy to work with. Only issue (and it is really nitpicking) is accuracy as I found many were the wrong size. Either a hint bigger or a bit smaller compared to my references but not a big deal. Thanks,
  10. Thank you all for stopping by and for all your positive comments. I really appreciate it!
  11. Turned out great and true to the original!
  12. Beautiful! Love the color combo!
  13. This build is finished and posted in the Under Glass section. Thanks,
  14. Hello, IT IS FINISHED! Yes, I can tell my grandkids someday I actually built a Ford. The Multimatic built Ford GT race car debuted at the 2016 Rolex 24 at Daytona (I already built the winning Corvette of that race). Chip Ganassi runs the Ford GT racing team. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in June of that year, The Ford GT won the GTE Pro class under some controversy. I honestly believe that sports in general, be it car racing, baseball or football, they all thrive in controversy. After all, controversy is what keeps them interesting. Ford required a waiver to race the Ford GT without having homologated the production cars. The first customer cars were delivered many months after the cars started racing. They also requested a special permission to race not 2 but 4 cars in the Le Mans race: 2 from the IMSA US series and 2 from the FIA WEC series. Many race fans speculate that they were sandbagging in qualifying to cheat on BOP. Personally, I think it was all part of a well orchestrated public relations stunt that involved everybody. Nobody cheated. I think they were all part of it. How convenient that at the 50th anniversary of the famous Ford-Ferrari battle of 1966, only the Ford and the Ferrari suddenly were the only ones having the pace while all others like Corvette, Porsche and Aston Martin were not even a factor. Even pre-race promos talk about the great Ford-Ferrari battle. After the race, both Ford and Ferrari were hit with penalties that almost change the results. But anyways, that been said, however, I must say that keeping a race car running for 24 hours is no easy feat. The team had to work hard for that win. As a hardcore Corvette guy and Corvette Racing fan, I love the IMSA GTLM racing series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. I have to admit I like the looks of the Ford GT car. I absolutely hate how it sounds. It sounds like a bee with an upset stomach. But it is a cool looking race car. Joey Hand, Dirk Muller and Sebastien Bourdais are also cool race car drivers. So, if I was ever going to do a Ford, this would be it. I'm not the biggest fan of their red white and blue scheme, but that's what history threw at me if I wanted to do a historically significant car. To that point, I really liked the 2019 Motorcraft retro livery they used in Daytona and the all white scheme used at the roar before the 24. So here is my version of the 2016 Le Mans winning Ford GT car #68 driven by Joey Hand, Dirk Muller and Sebastien Bourdais. Ford has kept the car intact with all the dirt and wear from the race. That was my reference to recreate the car as it crossed the finish line. For some reason, the weathering I did on this car doesn't show that well in the pictures, but it is there. Notice my favorite, the damage in the front fender near the door hinge. Revell Germany kit, aftermarket complimentary decals, lots of details added. And here are 2 pictures before the weathering: I hope you like it. Thanks for accompanying me on this journey. Special thanks to David (Jhedir6) for pointing me in the right direction with this build. As a reference, here is a video of the car on tour in SEMA after the race. Notice the antennas have been removed and the tires are not the ones used in the race. This was one of my primary references. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORoGxBQSFuo Thanks,
  15. Hello, Transponder and antennas. Different thickness and sizes as per references. Thanks,
  16. Thanks guys! As I mentioned this will be very slow until I finish my current main project. Tested replacing the kit's exhaust tip with my own made from aluminum tubing. This is only a test. Some tweaks will still be needed eventually. Thanks,
  17. Michael from Indycals is also doing both Motrocraft and Castrol decals for this. Those look like very nice sets.
  18. Peter, That is a GREAT looking concept! It would also look cool as a mid engine 2 seater. Thanks,
  19. Thanks guys! Peter, That is looking great! The Motorcraft livery they ran at Daytona this year is my favorite, followed by the Castrol you are doing. The cars also looked good in white during practice. I'm not a big fan of the usual red white and blue scheme I'm doing but that's what history threw at me as the LeMans class winner. Thanks,
  20. Found these: Pictures are dated Jan 2000. Can't believe it's been 20 years already since this was built! I need to take new pictures of this build. The Testors enamel paint job is still in good shape but a light polish may be needed. Thanks,
  21. Let me dig some old pictures. That was about 20 years ago. Or, it is a good excuse for new pics of old builds.
  22. Cool! I did a black '54 with red interior years ago after seeing a beautiful gorgeous one on the freeway.
  23. Hello, Body with all glass ready to meet the chassis before a million other little things still pending. First try to mate body and chassis did not fit despite a gazillion test fit sessions. Put it down to look at it later. Thanks,
  24. Hello, First of all, this is Peter Lombardo's fault! The IMSA GTLM class is very popular and have been growing in recent years. Factory teams like Corvette Racing (my favorite and the best ever), Porsche, Ferrari, etc. compete for top honors. In 2016, the RLL racing team (Rahal Letterman Lanigan) debuted the GTLM BMW M6. It ran for 2 seasons and was eventually replaced with the current M8 GTLM for the 2018 season. The team had 4 class wins in 2017: Watkins Glenn, Mosport, Laguna Seca and the Petit LeMans in Atlanta. Petit LeMans was the last race of the season and the last race for the M6 as it was replaced with the M8 for the following season. It also marked Bill Auberlen's 400th race with BMW. Winning that race was a great way to close the car's 2 season career in IMSA GTLM. This is the subject of this project. Platz/Nunu released the 1/24 BMW M6 GT3 model a while ago. The kit has been very popular and it will be my starting point for this project. Our forum member Peter Lombardo has built a few of these kits and they all look Great! Peter also pointed me to a decal maker in Germany. I contacted them and long story made short, after several email exchanges, pictures and reviews, they made me a set of decals for this car. See why this is Peter's fault? This is the car we are talking about. Yes, there has to be a Corvette connection somewhere in here: By the way, the Corvette clinched the championship by finishing 2nd. This is the kit I'll start with: The Falken version which is basically the same original kit except for the fender louvers and decals. Already started with the front suspension. The kit's one-piece shocks are nice but plain on top so I added a metal tape valve body. It was painted golden yellow and added some leftover decals. I thought for a moment about scratchbuilding working shocks but that would be a waste of time. Progress will be slow until I finish the current project. Then this will most likely be the next main project. Thanks,,
