Had to look again to evaluate.... it would be better to cut off and glue some parts together. The biggest issue is where to put the radiators, I should have copied the fans I just used on the Mongrel. Wheelbase needs to be adjusted, the rear wheels are too far forward on the 904, the first dimension to set is the wheel line to front of engine against the cockpit. About 3/4" will need to be cut from the chassis. Thinking the speedway wing should be kept, since the rocket bunny trend is to have wing mounts to go down and mount low, the transmission is perfect. Might as well have the front wings on it too. The 904 body sure is narrow! May need to widen the bottom, some sort of skirt ground effects. The suspension should be easy enough to make a narrower track. I also pulled out an old WIP, but this new project is still calling me, like I have an addiction or something.

HA HA, when I get to it. Don't hold your breath. I hope so. Already thinking about different air ducts, has anyone vacuum-formed clear plastic and covered with yellow carbon-fiber decals?

You're killing me! Thank you. Glad you like the hidden hydraulic suspension mod, which makes it go UP and not drop. Thank you. I am pleased with the unintended design result. Thanks. Thanks to you also!

Next project idea, simply posting to have some sort of incentive to go for it. Got the vintage Monogram Porsche 904 slot-car version at GSL, which is completely different than the version with an engine. Friend had the Monogram Porsche March Indy car at the Phoenix model swap meet, I noticed "Porsche" when we started packing up so got it for $5. I never knew Porsche tried Indy, looked up the history and saw it was a dismal attempt, so no wonder. The kit isn't worth anything, and nobody seems to like Indy models, so why not hack it up? The 904 had the nice Fuches wheels and P7 tires, probably Fujimi. The Porsche Outlaws & Hot Rods topic inspired me. I have to catch up with other things before getting possessed and obsessed about this project.

Kitbash of the classic Monogram Ferrari 275P curbside/slot-car, a 1990 reissue of the 1964 kit, and the Revell 360 Modena Spyder that is sort of a curbside since the hood did not open, but had a window over the engine. Work In Progress I found the 275P at a Phoenix model swap last month, then saw the Modena and it was crazy time. Started Tax Day with a mock up, started butchering on the 18th, worked like a dog until the 3rd at Noon, just before heading up to GSL, 132 hours. I did rush it, could have spent a couple of weeks sanding and polishing, and it would probably would have ended up in the box like a few other projects. I just wanted something different than the typical super dooper shiny muscle car on the table. I didn't have time to write a build document, but had this for the description: Blasphemous and sacrilegious kitbash of a historic Ferrari race car that won Le Mans two years in a row, and another Ferrari that only has a 3586 cc 395 HP V8. Story is, this car was found in a chicken coop somewhere in Venezuela, missing the 3285cc 320 HP V12 engine and transmission, the aluminum tub was badly corroded from chicken poop. The Modena was bought at a tax auction, it was rolled by the drug dealer during a police chase. Built by a shop wanting to do a reality TV show, but never got funding because it’s just a Ferrari and not an American muscle car. Some of these pictures were taken at Page on the way home.

Tamiya VW Beetle GSL Common Kit build - Tribute of parent's 1960

Busy forum. Thank you. Thank you very much. The secondary reason I built this, paid off! This is the only award I got at GSL. I resisted the temptation to add slush to the award. -
Thank you! No worries, I have too! Thanks. Appreciate it! The person operating the camera would need to be. Thank you.

Good, can't see Russell Cook's VW. Thank you for being there. I would have chatted with you, but so many of your fans were in the way.

Thank you very much. It was never posted on the GSL website, so it got forgotten. It's my production, should have posted long ago on YouTube. Good seeing you were able to be there.

Welcome! Glad you liked it. Thanks, of course!

This is now the second time, I *had to* get a kit off eBay of something I missed when I was young. The 1991 kit was a decent deal since the rear window was missing. At the GSL swap I saw the 1964 slot car version of the kit, offered a little lower and snagged it. Now that I'm comparing, see they are totally different molds! The older kit had the modern wheels with P7s, which are feeling hard. So now I have another resto-rod project possibility.

Tamiya VW Beetle GSL Common Kit build - Tribute of parent's 1960

I was expecting more entries than this, but it's more than the other times before. Think I have a chance of medaling. -
Thanks everyone! Made it in one piece. Totally expected this class to be packed, exceptional work by others. I needed to take a picture, for when I filled out the information to register. I only had enough time to create a one page document, with 'before' pictures, so had to write on their online website some of the details of construction.
