"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
89AKurt replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm experiencing ADHD at the moment. Between fixing up my "new" '68 Chevy pickup, and having the VW Beetle on the bench, I also have started production on the Coca-Cola cooler. That Bus was started 2003, so someday I will throw it into the mix. -
My dad requested that number from the pile, to go onto the Mercedes Benz 190 sedan that I grew up with. Dumb luck that LMC are the letters! I'm actually producing copies of the cooler! I had a request to get one, in trade for the Gunze Sangyo High Tech kit that has the photo-etched "Volkswagen" emblem (see picture of real car). I made a new master, that is more accurate. This is why I haven't posted for awhile.

One (of many) reasons I got stalled on this VW Bus project, didn't like the idea of trying to get a decent paint job done around the giant molded on emblem. I had tried the Alumilte casting putty, but got unsatisfactory results, plus JB Weld doesn't work that well for parts. Since I needed to get fresh casting supplies, I added this to the task. First thing was making a dam around it, used yogurt cup foil because it's thicker than Reynolds, bends nicely, taped down with masking tape. I also filled the corners to prevent spill-out. Oh man, so much happier with this! P.S.: Started this project 2003, could participate in the Bring Out Your Dead challenge when I feel *really* ambitious.

DITTO that! I've seen a diecast model of it, but it costs a mint too.

I'm dropping this here, I got the Auto Union Vanderbuilt Cup from him, he has some interesting Ferraris to lust after. https://www.facebook.com/fernandopintomodels/ -

Nice..... more lust worthy models! Here is that Shapeways body, after I sanded it to see how that goes. Just some parts that Norm makes, the seats are awesome. Comparing to Shapeways sourced seats, no comparison. If anyone has questions about the four kits of the GTO.... The MFH Lusso, this is my holy grail (so far). I have an incomplete kit of the Italeri 250 SWB, thinking of a resto rod idea for it. I did the AMT years ago, horrid kit. Thanks for letting me onto your lawn. -
Wow, very impressed. I call this the origami era of car design, so can see it's relatively easy to construct, but 8 years, totally understand the work involved. How about a Coca-Cola cooler?

1/25 vs 1/24 Porsche 904
89AKurt replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you for the clarification I had to look up what the Beck 904 is about. Looks like a 911 engine, that's what I'm wanting to do! I just bought a Monogram 1/25 #2954 kit off eBay. Then I got a message that the back window is missing, so I said knock $10 off. *I* can make a new window, the collector value is shot but I don't care about that. (p.s. got an Aerovette that was sealed, read about tires melting the plastic, opened and found one sat on the back window and melted a ring in it, so much for collectible) -

I have never seen one, but Airtrax is a brand that is rare. I want their 330GTC. I got the Model Factory Hiro Lusso. I also got a body of the 122 Berlinetta from a Shapeways vendor. Got the Hasegawa 250 TR Testarossa last year, have not opened that one. Can attest to Norm's V-12 engine being a model unto itself. I'm a nut. -
The 1/24 scale kit, think it was Otaki (could be Bandai) was one of those shoulda coulda woulda but back then I had no money. I know about the Tamiya r/c, money pit.

Functional Aston Martin Valkyrie

That is crazy beautiful. Love the checkerboard carbon-fiber, did he say that was an option? But much like the current F1 cars, that would be a nightmare to build a model of. -

Really like what you have done for the Forged Carbon-fiber. The Setso Elemento has much more of that, will keep this in mind. Yes, show the sponge, I would think natural sponges have a more open and random matrix, compared to a synthetic one? -

Nice job on the bubblegum machine, and siren. You turn those on a lathe?
