That is very cool, well done! Would like to see the ugly stage of when you wondered what you were doing, the point of no return.

Magnetic Panel Line Accent
89AKurt replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've had this phenomena happen too. In my case it was applying superglue, it arced out and laid down a nice permanent hair line. I think polishing the plastic body builds up a static charge. It also depends what you are wearing, polyester clothes, have you ever rubbed clothing really fast at night to see the little lightning bolts? Are you sitting on carpet? Shoes instead of barefoot? Environment is very important. -
Cool to see someone finished one of these! The detailing at the rear, with red lines, must have taken half the time. Good the wheel rings are optional.

ANY REVIEWS? ACADEMY 1961 FERARRI 350 GT CALIFORNIA
89AKurt replied to cooltoys1's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
<< As you can see, I've built it! I used Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland seats and door panels, the kit seats really suck. I have a Herb Deeks photo-etch set, didn't like the cast metal rims, but used the tires (kit tires are horrible). Because it's for a diorama, I didn't detail the engine, but I have the R & M engine kit too. I corrected the side vents. I also vacuum-formed headlight covers and detailed with aluminum tape. Added mirrors from two different kits so had to modify to match. R & M steering wheel, that has real wood rim. I did a few other details. I picked up another kit last year at Desert Scale. I've bought K A Details p-e and turned aluminum rims for the 250 GTO, think they would look good on this. -
AWESOME! One of my favorite subjects. It does look good in any color, but this blue is really nice. The most important part, you finished it!

Copperstate 1000 rally 2019
89AKurt replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got through my best shots, edited, cropped some more than others. Instead of posting all here, go to my Flickr Copperstate 1000 album. My favorite was this Daytona, he had a clear road, and it sounded so sweet! ]- 6 replies

Thanks for commenting. With no 'like' button we have no choice. Thanks again. When I started this project, people came out of the woodwork with personal stories about a Beetle. Yours is really special, I didn't know that was part of the military experience. I have a memory of cutting a Christmas tree with the Auto Union DKW that dad also owned; built a model but apparently have not posted it.

Hey, you're new here. Thank you very much! Dropping each step into this WIP thread, just shows what work was done. Over 142 hours! Many others build incredible models, hard to know without having such a forum to demonstrate techniques. Thanks for following.

Thank you! Good, the video works for other people, when I click, it goes for half a second and stops. I AM FINISHED! Ski rack, ready to glue on, straps ready too. May take studio pictures tomorrow to post in Under Glass section. P.S.: I am donating one of my limited production Coca-Cola coolers to the GSL Auction. I may refine some too.

Thanks, think it will be the only one at any contest. Thank you too! I was wondering if they were invented after 1960, perhaps rubber with steel hooks? If I wasn't weathering it, would consider it done at this point. Took a bunch of pictures with the California Pit Stop diorama, will tease with this photo. Had fingers crossed when I stuck the body onto the chassis pan, just for the front lid to be able to open. Found out there was zero clearance for the suitcase, had to unstick and glue farther back! The engine hood came out great, dumb luck seat-of-the-pants engineering worked. What I had hoped for, the hood stays up without needing a toothpick. Better yet, it says closed with no gap to drive me nuts with. Outdoors photo booth. I sprayed flat clear with a drop of Africa Korp yellow, and added another drop of black for a final dusting. Then I added the frozen slush, using Water Effects which is awesome stuff, I use it for glue too. I added some color, and even some charcoal from my last fire this winter. The hubcap star didn't come out as I wanted, but good enough, did it on the turntable that had wax paper taped on it. Next is to glue on the wheels (resin wheels had a crude shaft, and not excited about having it roll off a table), mirror, then the ski rack!!

Thank you. Good way to never finish a project. LOL Means a lot coming from you! Finally, got to work on the ski rack. I had no clue how I was going to make it, winged it all along. First part was the cross bar, at first thought about using thick aluminum plate, but it curled like crazy when I cut strips, so that is sheet plastic. Newspaper printing plate for the bar ends, and ski retainers. Bent with two different pliers. Used guitar string for some attachments, stretched sprue for other cases. Waldon punch used to make suction cups. Wire insulation used for nuts. I had no clue how the poles are held on, so designed that. Wish the red poles were longer. I suspect a leather strap held them on, much like what will be done for holding onto the drip rails, which will be wine bottle foil. I used the Gunze Sangyo kit that will donate the photo-etch, as a buck, to not risk screwing up the model more. I'm going to paint everything after assembly, because I know any paint reduces bonding.

Reserved the room today. I had searched to see what rates are elsewhere, and it's bloody insane. -
