Wow. That is some tedious work there, Bill. The details are starting to take shape. Your works in progress are just as impressive in person as your finished builds, as I was reminded today. Keep 'er going, she's lookin' good! Don't worry about the font size; even though it kinda looks like shouting, it is really easy to read. ;)

That's funny, I always wanted to be one! Gregg must have bumped a setting last time he was online. I think it's just the titles because I don't see any moderation options that aren't normally there. Yay we all get to be administrators for the day!

VERY NICE!!! That looks like a winner! I can't wait to get some pics of that tomorrow.(are you going to the meet?) We're gonna have a miniature compact car show on the tables!

Nice! I see those kits once and a while. The second gen S10's were always hit or miss with me. I just always thought the lines on the Silverado agreed with me better. I will probably buy one sometime and paint it black to go with the 454. Here's my two: This one is just mocked up with a red promo interior stuck in for pictures. Once I finish the stocker, I will post them together in Under Glass.

An Unusual '40 Ford Kit
dub replied to 7000in5th's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If this is an exercise in photoshop, it's probably the best one out there. I've been studying these pics for a while and I can't see anything out of place. One of the shots you can see someone inside the stanchions around the "model". The same shot has a cooler in the foreground that just looks too good to be faked. I am not an expert, just a skeptic so don't take my word. Decide for yourselves, but I'm convinced it's real. Man, this isn't even the ROM forum and we've got an unofficial one here! Wait, where's Harry? He's our resident "expert" on these things, right? -
COOOOL!!! I love the 454SS. That is the first kit I officially finished. I started it about 10 years ago by cutting it up for a channel job right out of the box. I had it mocked up for years with no paint or glue, just tape. I finally finished it back in May. I loved the build so much that I started to look for another to build box-stock. It took me three more months to find it, but persistence paid off. I found an original pop of the kit in a mom 'n pop LHS. I was floored to see it molded in black! The first one came from mal-wart() in '96 and it was molded in off white. If I would have had the black one then, I would have done what you did. This one can be done without paint fairly convincingly. Yours looks fantastic! The paintwork on the 64 looks great too. Anymore trucks?

This is too cool! I think it would look right at home next to Virgil's "Frankie" truckster. Let me guess, you built this one in what, 3 days?

Stop Me Before I Hurt Myself!!!!

this guy here ^^^ is shouting: "Hey, Where are you goin' with that?!?!?" Sorry, Izzy. I couldn't resist... besides we are playin' right? -
Abso-freakin-lutely BEEOOUUTIFUL!!! I'm so speechless that it took me 20 minutes to come up with that! I am out of superlatives, V-man. This is definitely the start of something big...

THANK YOU!!! Now we know! ....and knowing is half the battle. I was one of the people who looked at your name and thought it was JAIR-ee-us like Darius. Boy did I feel dumb when my mind finally did put the letters in the right order!
-
OK, I'll be the one who asks... Is it JI-rus, JAY-rus, or something else?
-
It won't be past my bedtime! I've been watching this faithfully for too long to crash out early before the unveiling. BRING IT ON ! ! !
-
Nice clean build! It seems this Corvette color is pretty popular. To be honest it didn't really do much for me until I saw it on this Porsche. Also gotta say, wow, you DO do builds that don't require sponsors all over the top notch paint work!
-
That sounds like a lot of fun! I am going to use a vacation day for that for sure! Thanks for the idea, and cool build.
-
as always, all I can say is wow!

Oh we're interested, it's such an unusual subject on our side of the pond that we are few. I like just about anything European, truck or not. I'll definitely be watching your progress. Man, I can just see any number of fixed-up euro cars to put on that rollback! Keep us in the loop, it's too good to not to!

Great job! It's kinda the same theme the '61 Ranchero I'm building is. What are those wheels and where did they come from?
-
Man, 30 MINUTES!?!? It takes me that long just to decide what kit I'm going to buy! Fastest I ever took was one week. Looks sweet! I love the VW guys take on the rat rod movement. It really fits the lines of the cars so well.
-
Good job with a really poor kit! The triple black really fits well. I have three of the different issues of that kit and they all are terrible. I will get around to putting a lot of effort into one of them eventually, but I'm in no hurry.(especially 'cause Tower Hobby has Fujimi's repop coming mid Nov!!! ) Your finished one definitely does the 1:1 car justice. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who drives one daily! Any other VW's?

With ya 100%! I discovered this fabulous publication in the airport waiting for my plane to Seattle back in June. The Best reference material for building rods and customs there is! (Gee, sounds like I like it or something!)

This is a pretty tough one, but there are a few dead giveaways......... Me like this one!!! ;) Oh, and glad to see you back, Harry!

Wip: '94 F-150 Xlt 4x4(update 1/5/08- Two Toned!)
dub replied to Casey429's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Hey, cool subject! That interior is looking great. Good job with the license plate. Are you going to try the inspection sticker(s) too? I would be interested if so... -
VERY NICE! I love the two-tone paint. I've got one of those on my bench too. It's on hold until I get the front bumper/grille figured out. (I can't stand the one in the kit) I would like to find one with a straight bumper instead of the notch in the middle . I may just modify the one I have... I am doing a similar paint scheme with black down the center and a different color framing it. Looks like your masking job was a good one . That's the only thing scaring me in this one! What did you use? Also to throw another question out, what for engine plans do you have? Sorry to babble but that just means I really dig it!

Cool, thanks for clearing that up for me. I knew the years didn't jive... My memory banks though fuzzy, were telling me that the Jalpa was from the 80's. That and I knew the flares didn't quite look right either. I was thinking that this Silhouette was maybe the concept car they based the Jalpa on. I was wrong but I wasn't too far off! Thanks for the info, Izzy!
