  1. I think I can see enough of the dash to say 924. I don't think 944s had that awful dashboard from the 924s. (I mean, could you put the radio in a more convenient place besides right in front of the base of the shifter?) That, and that back bumper sure does look like 924.....
  2. Is that one of those b+b creations? It looks like a 924 Turbo/931 converted to a wagon. (Done for luxo tax exemptions in some Euro countries in the 80s.)
  3. But you said you wussed out on the decals. Hows it a race car with no decals?????
  4. Yeah, like CAL said, it's about freakin' time! You've been building how much longer than me? Seriously, good to see you building. Even if it is one of those torque-less wonders from the east..... C'mon!!!! you know you want to start that quattro!!!! (insert 5 cylinder warble here....)
  5. If it's a hot rod, then fender laws are not the same as the rest of the cars on the road. Each state has different laws, but most do not require them on pre-49 cars.
  6. He makes it to most of them and also the CPMCC meetings as well. The MAMA meetings he actually has a store setup but the Pa. club meets one must order ahead of time. We really are spoiled.
  7. A record player? What's that? Oh, you mean one of these: I need to do something about my phono stage so I can listen to it again. The one I have hooked up needs service so bad that I can't listen because there is too much noise. My collection is pretty small at about 350 albums. I know people with ten to twelve times that! Digital still doesn't quite capture the lovely sound of really, really good analog. I only have a moderate slice of that pie here and I tell you it's addictive! It's just not a good hobby for a lazy personality. The amount of cleaning and adjusting required for that sound can be tiresome. Rats! Now I have to do some equipment shuffling so I can listen again.
  8. What's funny is, I'm supposedly the expert (according to Cruz ) and I am one of the last guys into portable audio to give in to the MP3 push! I've had Minidisc equipment for nearly 10 years and the stuff is showing its age. I got the iPod so I could record live music when I found out I could. I still haven't used it for that yet, but I can!
  9. Can't nail down the exact year but it's a 74-77 Dasher. VW did call 'em Passats on the other side 'o the pond, though! (This one is US spec with a Brit number plate.)
  10. Wasn't that on this thread about 45 pages ago? It does look familiar.....
  11. This is what I thought the Audi was! Too bad CAL beat me to it!
  12. That looks like the corner of an 80-88ish Polo. I don't think you'll stump me again with a selection from the vast VAG empire. That 100LS coupe was a lucky one...... Audi was the ONLY Euro company I didn't search when I didn't recognize it. Go ahead punk, make my day.
  13. I have found the same thing going the other way. I used automotive touch-up lacquer clear over new Testors one coat, and wound up with the same deal. Lots of orange peel. Tamiya clear works well over it, however.
  14. This one is a French market Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon. 80-85
  15. I'm still in too. I just had some personal life issues this weekend that kept me away from the bench. I managed to start on the "equal length" header. I figured it was appropriate! I gotta get back to this thing. I want to get more of this idea out, but I need to figure out the body. Don't worry, it isn't going to be something usual.
  16. Duh, I forgot about the Prius. Shame on me...
  17. Another flaw in that logic would dictate toll booths be removed too. I would venture to guess there is just as much idling happening on our government owned toll roads with non EZ pass users. (...of course, therein lies the answer. ) Actually what may happen (in the case of a shortage), is cars may be required to have an idle-cutout system. What that is is a flywheel assembly that will keep rotating while the car is stopped to allow the engine to be shut off. When it's time to move the flywheel engages the crank and the engine starts instantly. VW had a system in production-ready mode in the 80s in case another fuel crisis like the 70s were to happen again. I wonder if they moth-balled it or if it is still an active program.....
  18. I did all this work this past Sunday. I got the body primed again and did some work on the interior. Since I'm pulling parts from the new sedan kit for this one, I couldn't use the floor if I wanted to use a single bomber seat, without surgery to the kit part. I figured since you aren't going to see a lot of the floor, why not scratch build one? Here's the result: Another part of the build I wasn't sure about got solved too. I picked up an AMT 41 Woody for parts and it had these beautiful hairpin radius rods. I'm doing some painting when I get done here and should at least get the front suspension done tonight. Thanks again!
  19. Thanks, Raul! I'm actually working on the tub right now. I'll update that one in the next post. Here's where I stopped with the 5 window. I laid the paint and a coat of clear. It still needs more clear and some mild elbow grease and I should be happy with it. I have much to do on it yet but, I have until December to finish it. It'll get done loong before that though, don't worry! Roof insert is aluminum from a Red Bull can. I don't like how this one fits so I am going to try another piece. Now more of the tub, or Pseudo Tub as I like to call it!
  20. OK, here it is! It's my first attempt at scratch building a frame. I found a built-up Mercedes Benz 300SL for a buck at the last club meeting and thought the engine would be cool for a hot rod. I also wanted to build a truckster and this is the perfect opportunity to combine them and do something a bit off the beaten path. I like a different route for many things and this fits perfectly! I'm planning on FI and a prominent header. I'm just kicking around ideas with the body. I have a parts box to dig through yet , so expect change there. The Ala-Kart knock-off cab is cool but I want something even more "off-the-beaten-path". I may do some cutting and splicing..... We'll see what the parts pile holds!
  21. Well, mine's gonna be right down the middle.(at least I'm gonna try...) Sides shouldn't matter. I started the frame last night. I can show some pix when I get home.
  22. Great job, Bernard! I love the interior and your use of color. I have built 6 hotrods in the last 6-8 months and I still haven't finished one Revellogram deuce kits. My 5 window is using one of the frames and interiors but I have yet to build one OOB, and I probably never will. I can say from what I have done, they sure go together nice! Can't wait to see what you are working on next!
