I would use the AMT version. I did this to one, the AMT rescue van can supply a few of the Ambulance bits you will need. It is also a good source for the decals.

This appears to be the Hurst 300H version. Very cool

I have been working on one of these also, the Popper version. I had to sand the grill and the area behind it a lot to get it to fit right. I will be paying a lot of attention to your build, you are doing a great job.

Started a new master...

Please let us know when you get this done, I for one want one. -
I love where this is going. As I posted before, I have built 2 of these, but I now want to build a full detail one as you are doing. From the last picture, it looks like the seat needs to go back to be where the Ecto seat was. I think this would help you figure out what is left to fill in on the interior.

Yes, I like that idea. However I am thinking more along keeping the tailgate closed and hinge the upper glass. Kind of like 55-57 Nomads. Originally I was thinking the glass would just roll down into the tailgate like on late 60’s to early 70’s wagons. We shall see. The open upper glass would add something.

That’s looking really good. I love these cars and have built 2 of the AMT Ectos. Looks like you are investing the time to make this one right.

I have thought about the rear gate. I have added to the roof so it has a real opening back window, and scribed seams for the tail gate. However, anything else I could do would take away from the lines of the car. It would involve cutting the rear bumper and messing up the back of the car. I plan to display it with the back window “down” and maybe a surfboard sticking out.

Ii got some more work done on the Lincoln. I now have the first coat of primer on the body. This allows you to get a better picture of the final car. Still a lot of sanding and fixing, but it looks pretty good for a first primer coat. The silver strip in the B pillars is some aluminum foil to show the trim that will be installed in the final car. I also painted the engine block Ford Engine Blue, and the interior a base black. I will flock or emboss the carpet then figure out the interior color. The body color is going to be a dark metalic blue or green. The final interior color will have to work with that.

Thank you all, it was a fun build, I have one more. Need to decide on a direction for that one.

At Walmart (at least one store)

I agree, the pinto is not inspiring. It can be cool, but needs a lot of help. -

I agree, I am ending up just buying multiple of the same kits so I can build it differently or trade it to someone here for something I want. I only do this when they are 40% off, never full price. -
Yes, that was part of my plan. I want it to look like an up scale wagon, one Lincoln would have made. If I could find some small emblems to put there, I would.

I did a little more on the B pillars. Or are they C pillars, as there is really no B? Anyway, the mods looked better than the original roof, but I thought they needed a little bit more. I added some character to them to make them look more formal. A little .040 round in front and some .030x.060 in the rear. when I BMF it, I will include the forward round part.

Well, I’m heading in the right direction again. I got the new trailer and stole the decals, repainted the side, new decals and it is back together. I need to fix a few small gaps from being taken apart, and a few things still need trim painted, but it’s progress. I added a wreath I got from HL and added some color to it. I also added Christmas decals to the truck doors. I am almost done with this one. The trailer doors are currently held closed with masking tape so if I want to open them, it is just a quick slice with a #11.

I love wagons like Oprah loves bread. When the Lincoln kit came back out I had to have one. I do not like the way the custom roof looks. It is too curved at the B pillar, and there is no way there could be access to the back. I started by cutting the glass top to insert just the roof section in and glued that in place. I then added a header above the rear door. I then cut out the B pillar and removed the drip rail. I made new B pillars that are more angular to match the lines of the car. Then I added a drip rail that continues all the way around the roof like it would have been from the factory. I am calling this a Hot Rod because it is going to be powered by the Boss 429 from the 1970 Galaxie. I know this would never have happened, but maybe the stock MEL blew up and Dad wanted more power. It should move the wagon pretty good. The roof rack is from the 1977 Ford Van. It will also get a couple of Surf boards from the 1965 Chevy wagon.

1977 Ford Motor Home
Oldmopars replied to Oldmopars's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Ok, let’s look at this again. As suggested I removed .25 from the bottom and moved it all down. I think it looks a lot better, but I think I may look at it a little more before cutting into my sheets. Let me know what you think. -
Very cool conversion, I too love the MGB. I had a 1967 and loved it, but they are not for bigger people. At 6ft and 225lbs, a little MG feels like I am wearing it, not driving it.

Thank you. I do too. I would build as many 4 doors and wagons as they could provide. I’m not really a muscle car guy, I prefer a working mans car/truck. Thank you all for your comments.

I picked up this 007 Cop car, but did not want to go that route. I had planned on just an old Grandpa sedan, but after 2 paint jobs that disappointed me, I pulled out the decals from the Chevy Impala Fire Chief kit and build a proper Chief car. I went curbside as the Boss 429 was just not right for anything.

Thanks, original plan was for a flat bed, then I used the flat bed on another build over a year ago. I found this box in the stash and made it work. They are a unique truck. I wish they were still on the road.

front clip for 1 24 gmc 2wd custom
Oldmopars replied to WesleyOlin's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Are you looking for something full custom? Or, stock looking? If stock looking, the front suspension from the 1964-1966 Chevy trucks is very close to the 70s-80s sqaure body trucks. It is comon place in the real world to put the 73-87 "K" frame with disk brakes under the oler 1960-72 trucks. It is almost a straight bolt on swap and some of the parts are the same, or look the same just beefier. Full custom, Ebay, or any of the other kits listed will work. -
I had this idea to build somthing different with a car not normally hot rodded. So I ordered this glue bomb off Ebay. However, when it arrived I was very dissapointed by the kit. I added wheels from a Plymouth Prowler, fender flairs and two tone paint. I had planned for more, but the kit was not that great and would have required more than I wanted to put into it. So, here it is.

As anyone that has built these old IMC/Lindberg trucks knows, they can be a challenge. Stink bug attitude, poor parts fit, the doors are a real challenge. I put this back in te box several times. I started it about 3 years ago and finally decided to just finish it. Nothing spectacular, I extended the frame and added a box from an AMT C-600 kit. Rustoleum paint, light weathing on the chassis, but the body is clean and shiny. So, it gets used, but the owner keeps the truck clean. Not my best work, but at least it is done. I had a different plan in the beginning, so the wheelbase is just a little short for this box. Had I planned for the box, I would have made it a little longer.

Great job on this. I like how you added the post door frames. I'm very interested by this as I had a 1967 Belair and I want to replicate it. Thanks for showing me the way. Beautiful build.
