  1. This year for the Cannonball build I am going to do a Land Rover S2A. I was born in 1970 and need to do a 70 for the build. From the research I hve done I need to do a S2A, but there seems to be a lot of variation on what they looked like. It seems the steel grill was an S2A item, the plasitc S3, but I still see S2As with thhhe plastic grill. My biggest quandry is about the hood. I am finding 4 different styles of hood. 2 with the tire and 2 without. The difference between the 2, other than the tire mount is the front edge of the hood. One style looks like they just cut straight across and there is no lip, the other has a more rounded lip like the later S3. See the pictures below. I chose both with the tire on thhe hood, bot are listed as a 1971 S2A. I know one is an 88 and the other is a 109, but its the hood that confuses me. Pleae help if you know the answer of what is going on with the hoods. I am using the Revell S3 as a start.
  2. Growing up, my father restored Model A’s in the early 70’s. They are fantastic cars and very capable off road with those tall tires and light weight. They are also very reliable and easy to fix if they do break. Great choice.
  3. Well, my entry is a 1970 Land Rover Series 2A. It rivals a Jeep in lack of driver comfort, power, handling, etc. But, I will look cool doing it?
  4. I’m sorry, got my two build threads mixed up, but that is still good for a 69.
  5. Your good no matter what year it is, last Ghia made was 1974, so even the newest meets the requirements. Besides, I totally love that as a P2P car.
  6. I have been waiting to get more done on this one, so I took it with me to Canada. I’m sitting in my Hotel room doing the BMF. I have a long way to go, but I am getting there. I’m also rather pleased with how the engine looks.
  7. I have several trucks in the stash. I have no idea what I will build, but I would be in again this year.
  8. Wow, I love it, very cool. So is the Landy in the background. We do have a Trucks/Heavy Duty section. Maybe on of the Admin can get it moved over there for you.
  9. I have been dividing my limited time between 3-4 projects. I was able to get some time on this one today. I got the interior finished up. Nothing crazy, just a basic interior, I will dust it up later to give it a warn and dirty feel. The frame is painted, engine painted, and body parts in primer. I will be painting the wheels, but until I decide for sure on a body color, they are black. Here is another mock up to show progress.
  10. Well, I decided to go with the Land Rover. I was at HL and just had to get one more as I have plans for the other 2.
  11. So, I don’t have the kit yet, but I think my plan is the ESCI/Italeri Mercedes 450SLC. It was made from 1971 to 1979 basically unchanged. So the kit is labeled as either a 1976 or a 1979, but it will work as a 1972 and fit the rules. The kit is also a “Rally” version so it has a lot of good parts for the P2P.
  12. I think you are thinking of “Last Man Standing”. On Home Improvement he had a blue hot Rod, a 33 IIRC.
  13. Or a fan from a 1/25 Big Rig.
  14. That’s what I’m doing for the Cannonball. But, I had the same thought.
  15. I love this idea, those are really cool.
  16. Am I understanding this correct, a Ranchero or El Camino would not be allowed? If that is the case, I’m left with a 64 Cutlass Convertable, 53 Ford Convertible, 64 Belvedere or a 71 Mustang. At this point I think I will use the 71 Mustang as it is a POS kit and uninspiring for any other use.
  17. So how far from Manchester? I spent some time there.
  18. I’m out at Rocky Reach Dam, Chelan County PUD, it is cold, but nice here. What about you?
  19. Very cool, I love this idea. I started a similar build a month ago using a DM800 steel hood shortened and mated to a R685ST cab on the DM800 frame. I will be watching yours as I build mine.
  20. Count me in. At this time the car is TBD. I have at least 6 in my stash that will work, but leaning towards a 1970 Land Rover Series IIa or a 1970 Ford Galaxie. However that bus idea is cool, I did build a 1965 Chevy school bus a while back.
  21. Count me in. No idea what I will build yet, but I love the challenge.
  22. This Bronco combo looks great, cool colors. I am glad to see your build as I just got the same kit recently. It looks really good.
