  1. I've used both several times. They are both good. In my opinion, there is no difference, except maybe the actual colors available. I always use Duplicolor sandable primer under ALL paint, so I can't speak to the quality of the Testors or Tamiya primers.
  2. Wheels came from the Revell '66 Chevelle wagon kit. The wire I use for piping is simply detail wire (what some of us call spark plug wire) and can be purchased in almost any color from any number of model car aftermarket companies. You can buy a few colors of wire from Radio Shack.
  3. This is absolutely a museum piece. Just amazing.
  4. Beautiful traditional Merc custom. Ya did a great job.
  5. Tom - I'll be at the hotel Friday afternoon and I plan to eat my donation's worth!
  6. I plan to build them all. I also plan to live to be 187 years old.
  7. Maryland Automotive Modellers Association (MAMA) http://www.mamasboyz.org/
  8. Patrik, that's great that you will be there. We can finally meet. See you on Friday night.
  9. I'll be there, trying to avoid Tom Kren. Or, I'll be at The Model Car Garage table.
  10. Welcome Keith, You usually ask me every year, so I'll tell you now - The Mid-Atlantic NNL in Towson is May 12.
  11. March is the annual awards and dinner meeting. All of the memorial themes are now in March. Lots of model pictures and bunches of old guys at the link: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model-clu...meeting-332007/
  12. Miguel, I'm sure you will be hanging around with Marcos Cruz, so we'll find each other. Cruz has a man-crush on me and just won't leave me alone! Just kidding ( I hope). Cruz is a good friend. See you at NNL EAST.
  13. Today's primary drive belts and pullys are smooth. Around 1980, Harley added a belt-drive primary, introduced on the Sturgis model. They had "teeth" on the belt and pullys and were used for several years on custom bikes and duplicated by aftermarket companies. Now, they all run smooth belts.
  14. You did a fantastic job on that car,,,,,and the photos are just fine! What a beautiful model!
  15. Now THAT'S a hot rod bike. Nice detailing. Very cool!
  16. Jason - Gregg has already done name tags. Here it is. Copy it to your computer, add your name and print it. Put it in a clear name tag holder.
  17. Matt, just look at my Fotki album. The first few pics show everything that Norm has for the Revell choppers, as of today. http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/lyles_mod...les__race_cars/
  18. Reps & Mins latest catalog doesn't include the newest chopper parts because they are brand new. I just got the first seats and the primary drive last night and painted and installed them on the, otherwise, finished bikes this morning. I have all of the bike parts shown in my Fotki album. http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/lyles_mod...les__race_cars/
  19. The AMT street rod kit.
  20. I think that's the best build of that old kit I've ever seen. VERY nice!
  21. Thanks for the great forum. It's operated by REAL modellers FOR real modellers, very informative and easy to navigate to whatever categories you are interested in. Oh yeah,,,,,,,,and you can actually identify the resin caster that you got your parts from  THANKS GREGG AND JAIRUS!
  22. Dan Peterson has been concerned lately, that all of my hot rods have only two wheels, so to make him happy, I've returned to the 4 wheel category. Kit frame is modified here and there to accept the IFS from a '34 Ford kit and the rear from a revell '32 Ford kit. Engine from a Speedwagon kit. Exhaust will be scratchbuilt with BOB DUDEK aluminum mufflers. 3 inch chop with cab rear window lowered and window frame scribed. Paint is HOK Candy Lime Gold, not rubbed out yet. Had to extend wheel wells into the bed because of the fat tires. Wood-grained with Polly Scale paints and cleared. Still need to add the BMF strips. Stock seat is now tucked and rolled using half-rounds. I don't like the deluxe grille in the AMT kit, so I'm using the standard grille from the funky MPC flipnose F-100, with the "promo" headlights drilled out and '69 Camaro reflector and lenses added. These are the Bob Dudek mufflers. Hopefully, I'll have this little beast done for NNL EAST.
  23. These will be at NNL EAST. Don't EMAIL Norm right now,,,,,,his computer is on the fritz. (What the hell is a fritz, anyway?)
  24. Back in the days when a peanut farmer was the president, choppers looked like this. They often had no front brake. The extended Sportster forks were made with aluminum tubing and the fork boots painted on. The pschycadelic swirl paint took about 5 hours, total, over a base of Duplicolor white and lots of clear. Many parts, including the engine, came from an old Imex Harley that I took apart. The handle bars, sissy bar and chain guard are made from twisted 20 guage silver wire. The stash pouch was scratchbuilt. I cut grooves in the Revell kit tire to make it look more like a tire from the 70's. The wrap-around fenders are resin from Reps & Mins. The old Imex kit tried to represent a (then) new Evo engine, but it was actually a shovelhead with Evo blockheads,,,,,so I scratchbuilt the shovelheads from shaped plastic and pin heads for bolts. The ol' school solo seat and p-pad are available now from Replicas & Miniature Co. of Md. We now return you to the 21st. century.
