Paint is Duplicolor medium blue metallic. It started out as HOK light teal pearl, but somehow, the hood came out 10 times darker than the rest of the model. I have no idea why. So, I had to repaint the whole thing with the Dup. paint. See,,,,,even us old pharts, who have been doing this forever, still screw up the paint once in awhile.

Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md.'s resin '40 Ford kit, mastered by Rik Hoving. NOT included in the kit are the skirts that I added and also the "bubble" for the spare tire in the trunk lid. I was going for a late 40's/early 50's style custom. The kit includes smoothed running boards but I used the Revell kit pieces, unpainted, to simulate white rubber covered boards. I added tuck & roll inserts to the seats and used blue beading wire for the piping. The dash is detailed with Model Car Garage photoetch. Flathead is pretty much out of the Revell box. Aluminum sombrero caps are from Bob Dudek with resin Caddy crests added. Bumperettes were cut from '41 Lincoln bumpers. Thanks to Rik Hoving and Norm Veber for the excellent resin kit.

Welcome to the forum. Your Superbird is outstanding! The engine detailing is VERY impressive. Hope to see many more models from you in the future. Oh,,,,,,,and your English is as good, or better, than some of the Americans on the board.

Hmmmm. The new Revell kit? I can't explain this. It is an actual full-blown NASCAR race car, with Maryland tags, and the guy drove it home after the show! 1960 Harley with Indian fenders. Engine is a panhead bottom end with shovelheads. A bunch more stuff at the link: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/car-shows...morning-cruise/

I guess my mail delivery lady (she's a "car girl" and Nascar freek) must have been reading my issue for a few days because I just received it yesterday! Congrats Mark and to all the other folks who have their cars in the issue.

Login problem [Remember me]

Same here. I've had to log in every day, after the board was redone a few weeks ago, but this morning it remembered me. Maybe Gregg worked some magic. -
'32 Tudor Sedan (before the new one comes out)
Lyle Willits replied to Lyle Willits's topic in Model Cars
I thin the hood sides from the inside with a Dremel and then cut open each louver with a NEW #11 blade. It takes awhile, but it's worth it when done. I've opened the louvers on street rod models many times. -
'32 Tudor Sedan (before the new one comes out)
Lyle Willits replied to Lyle Willits's topic in Model Cars
It's a small block Chevy and it came from some kit and probably parts from the parts box. I'm not trying to be a wise guy, but 2 or 3 years after a build, I have no idea where I got an engine or a specific part. I DO remember that any small block Chevy will fit just right in the Revell '32 Ford frame simply by moving the motor mounts 1/8th inch forward. -
I built this one a couple of years ago using a somewhat modified Switchers body. Had to scratchbuild the interior side panels. Modified a bench seat for the front and used another Revell '32 seat for the back. The whole thing is built on the Revell '32 3-window kit. Oh yeah,,,,it's chopped.

I'll show an old one too! This was built when the CORRECTED kit was released, I think, around 1997 or 1998. I made the Foxcraft fender skirts and they are still in the Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. product line. My radiator hose is still there.

Lindberg is in the process of reissueing all of their model car kits. You should soon be able to buy as many Impala kits as you want.

The annual"sit in the sweltering heat and shove blackened burgers into your piehole" meeting. Craig Turner (left) and Norman Veber (right) At the link you'll find a few more pics of models and mostly old, angry-looking people, who you probably don't know. http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model-clu...-meeting--annu/

Who makes the best '57 Nomad?
Lyle Willits replied to Moon Pie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree. I have the '57 Nomad from S.E.L. and it is very accurate. It's a bit pricey at $75.00 and has a pinhole or two, but it's the best there is, so far. -
Bill, The R/M '60 Impala kit has the '59 Impala wheel covers. Although they are very similar, there IS a difference. This is one of the minor things that has held me back from building a replica of my old car. I've been playing with Franklin Mint '60 wheel covers to see if they can be cast.
-
Excellent build. That is beautiful. Having owned a '60 Impala, yours looks right on the money.

I've been informed that Revell is going to use the chrome tree from the 3-window coupe. Therefore, the 302 will have a carburetor and air cleaner. The injection unit and smooth valve covers from the Speedwagon kit will be cast by Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md.

Bob, Those EXACT wheels are available from Replicas & Miniatures. The set comes with the hubs, rims, photoetched spokes, two set of hub caps, resin tires and white wall inserts. They are a tad on the expensive side - $46.00, but they are the best in scale wheels I've ever seen.

Wanted M of M bike parts list
Lyle Willits replied to Smart-Resins's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Dave Toups was working on a 12th scale panhead. I don't know the current status but it will be resin casted by Reps & Mins. -
