Yep, it comes with a modified duval windshield frame originally from the Phantom Vickie kit. The paint is Duplicolor Bordeux Red, a Chrysler color.

The donor kit is any Revell '32 Ford kit. The resin kit can be built with a '32 front end or a '33 front end. Actually, the only thing the donor kit (Revell'32) contributes is the front axle, wheels, brakes, etc. The resin hood sides have molded-in louvers, but I screwed the hood sides up so many time, I just made new plain ones from sheet plastic. Some kit bashing and scratchbuilding is necessary for some parts to complete the car. Although the quality of the castings are VERY good, I wouldn't recomend this kit as a FIRST RESIN KIT. Rich Wilson sells the resin kit for $25.00 he can be contacted at : wilsoncobraguy@comcast.net Rich built this one He also built this one with one of his resin V-12s

Seeking a 1934 Plymouth 4-door sedan
Lyle Willits replied to Daniel Peterson's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I would start with the incorrectly proportioned AMT '33/'34 Ford sedan. Turn it into a 4-door. The '34 Ford grille is VERY close to the shape of the one on the 1:1 car, but would need to be "thickened" with sheet plastic. The fenders and frame covers need to be reworked. Those EXACT wheels are found in the AMT '66 Riviera kit. I'm sure whatever engine he's running can be found in 25th scale. I think it would be a fairly involved project, but for one million dollars, I'll do it. -
This is a resin kit from Richard Wilson (same guy who does the resin Lincoln V-12 engine). I've been working on this for almost 3 months. The kit quality is very good, but of course, I had to go and modify some things and make it much more fiddly than it had to be. I hinged the resin hood, installed the Pontiac engine from an AMT '36 Ford kit. Exhaust was semi-scratchbuilt. Photoetched wire wheels and resin tires from Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. Kit can be built with '32 or '33 Ford front ends. Kit includes frame, body , grilles, hood pieces, full belly pan, rear axle and interior (minus the dash). I used an old tuck & rolled dash from an AMT '37 Chevy kit. Photoetched banjo steering wheel and gauges from The Model Car Garage. Piston shifter from Reps & Mins Co. of Md. Well, with all this resin and photoetch, I guess I'll be accused of being a check-book modeler. I better get back to building something,,,,,uh,,,,normal :?:

My NNL Mid-Atlantic Pictures
Lyle Willits replied to RDean58's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Very nice pics from our show. THANKS! -
How weird. I never thought anyone else would build this thing. This was a sketchpad drawing by the late Brian Borden, from the early 80's. I built the model and it was the first model I ever had in a magazine. By today's standards, this thing is PURE ###### and it didn't hold up well after 25 years. Yours is MUCH NICER!!!!!

I just use the suck-up avatar that advertises the magazine. -
revell 55 chevy
Lyle Willits replied to ramonesblues's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Revell website says JUNE for the '55, but generally, you can add a month or two to the proposed release date. Listings only go to June right now, so the '58 is not yet mentioned. -

My Boy's First Mid-Atlantic NNL Win!....Pics....
Lyle Willits replied to Bluzboy66's topic in Contests and Shows
Congrats to Alex. It was well deserved. I got a real kick out of seeing the "deer in the headlights" look on his face when I called him up to get his trophy. Yoooooose guys need to get to our meetings. They are like mini NNL's but without trophies. http://www.mamasboyz.org/ -
It was a COMPLETE SURPRISE when Gregg showed up, with the Philly boys. Gregg used Tim Power's photo booth and shot all of his own pics for the magazine. THANKS GREGG!!!! Great to have you there. Lots of show coverage at the link: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model_car...d-atlantic-nnl/

Tell me about Duplicolor sandable primer
Lyle Willits replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Duplicolor sandable primer is the ONLY primer I use. I've used it for almost 30 years on models. You can apply any paint over it. -
This is just too cool! I've looked at these pics about 5 times now and keep seeing more neat things. If you don't mind, I'm going to print these pictures for Norman Veber (Reps & Mins) so he can see what cool creations evolve from his parts. Great color choice. Great stance. Great everything. Uh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I think I like it.

'55 Chevy BelAir Mild Custom Two Door Hardtop Conversion
Lyle Willits replied to John Goschke's topic in Model Cars
That is beautiful. You absolutely nailed the mild custom look of the late 50's. Now, hook up with the Philly boys and get to our show on May 12. Sure would like to see this one in person.. -
Neat deuce projects. I'm looking forward to seeing these finished. BTW, Norm's last name is Veber, not Weber.

I built marketing study prototype models for the Franklin Mint a few years ago and was payed obscenely well! The problem was, after about 5 of them, it certainly wasn't enjoyable. I was building models that I normally wouldn't build for myself and the hobby became a pain-in-the-butt job. But the cool thing was that after about 2 years, The Mint gave me the models back. I'm told they are worth approx. $2500 each to a collector of such things, but who really knows. Whatever you sell, it's only worth what the buyer is willing to pay. Here's one of the Franklin Mint cars. They never went into production. Neil Bonnett's 1979 Daytona 500 car.

TIM PHELPS will be our special guest at the Mid-Atlantic NNL, on May 12. Tim is an excellent flame painter and pinstriper. He will do a seminar at our show and will also have his new book for sale. Tim's work has been in, and on the cover, of S.A. several times. (Yes, Gregg and Jarius know that there is another magazine). Get to the show and learn how to lay down some hot licks on that next model.
