  1. Was this model featured in a model car magagzine a few years ago? Great job!
  2. Thanks Randy. Your check is in the mail. Great looking roadster. I like the license plate too
  3. Bob, it was part of the cars from the 1954 (I think) Autorama show. All of the cars started as plastic. They are not resin. His display has been shown for 3 or 4 years now at various east coast shows and I think they were in a magazine,,,,but, of course, I don't remember which one. I think he is with the Silent Traffic club. CAN ANYONE PROVIDE THE BUILDERS NAME?
  4. Well, unfortunately, I don't know the builder's name but he told me it started as a Franklin Mint '49 Caddy hardtop. He removed the roof, scratchbuilt the boot and repainted the car and added various details. He will PROBABLY be at NNL EAST.
  5. Model Car Garage has an Autometer tach.
  6. This geriatric Nascar had the left blinker on through the entire meeting. MUCH more at the link: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model-clu...hilly-sit-down/
  7. Cruz and MJ - turn the dryer on and vent it into the room. Not only will you stay warm, but your models will become dusty and look realistically dirty and weathered. And, your electric bill will be so high that you won't be able to afford new model kits, which will keep your wives happy. Geeeeez, do I have to explain EVERYTHING to you guys?
  8. Got this one from Scale Repros Plus. It's casted in white metal.
  9. I doubt that you will EVER find a 4 door '36 Chevy model. You could try the on-line kit vendors, such as Hobby Heaven, who has hundreds of old kits.
  10. Built 20 years ago. Randy Kern's cool wagon. 1/12 scale Camaro,,,,,,didn't find out who built it. Lots more pics: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model-clu...eeting-2172007/
  11. That is just too cool. Can't wait to see this one at NNL EAST.
  12. Antiques and custom bikes,,,,,and a couple of babes and tattoos. http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/car-shows...tlantic-motorc/
  13. Ajay, VERY nice bike. Love the color and the primary drive pullys. The fenders appear to be the KIT fenders. They don't look like the wrap-around fenders made by Replicas & Miniatures. (?)
  14. Thanks. It's corrected now. I don't do well early in the morning,,,,,or around noon,,,,,or afternoon,,,,,or evenings.
  15. Welcome Len. Hope the internet highway wasn't too backed up on your trip over here.
  16. 70 pics at the link, including a bunch of old guys you may or may not know. http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/model-clu...meeting-232007/
  17. Tom, that is just too cool! Great job. Are you going to make it to NNL EAST??
  18. Cruz - Zoli has been a member for many years. He's the man who scratchbuilds the amazing firetrucks that wins the NNL category every year.
  19. What a piece of work!!! Fantastic. You need to get these to a MAMA meeting.
  20. Cut the fork pivot off. Drill a hole through the bottom of the lower tripletree so that you can insert a plastic or aluminum rod during final assembly. Cut the new rod to a length that doesn't stick out the bottom so it can't be seen. When the bike is assembled, you won't see the hole/rod,,,,uh,,,,unless you display your bikes upside down
  21. I wanted to model a medium priced custom bike that one might see on the road or at a local bike show. Both fenders are skirted and the tank is sculptured. The pipes were modified and painted with Duplicolor Metalcast gray. Scratchbuilt mirrors with chrome mylar faces. S&S carb and aircleaner from Replicas & Miniatures Co. of Md. Fender supports were scratchbuilt. Tailights and front turn signal lights came from 4 kits. Actually, it isn't really finished - I'm waiting for the primary drive with clutch and pully detail from Reps & Mins. Thanks for looking.
  22. This is discussed under "rants and raves" and has been discussed at great length for the past two weeks on various forums. Basically RC2 is dropping diecast and model cars because their costs are going up while product sales are going down. It is HOPED that a buyer will step up and take over the products. RC2 stated that things will remain the same for 2007 but no car model products after that.
  23. PHOTO BY TIM KOLANKIEWICZ I met Ricky at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in August, 1993, at a large model car event. He was displaying an absolutely incredible replica of Scotty Cannon's promod car. I was just blown away by the detail. I found him to tell him what a fantastic model that was and I found that this large imposing figure of a man was quite shy, gentle, and almost child-like. The huge smile remained on his face (as in the photo above) the entire time we talked. For the next 13 years, every time I saw Ricky at a show, that smile was always there. You can't think about Ricky without picturing that smile. It's hard to believe it was only 4 months ago that we had a great time, once again, at our "normal" rowdy dinner after the Toledo NNL. The greatest thing I've ever found in this hobby are the people who become your friends. The worst thing I've found is that, one by one, they leave. I guess as long as Ricky remains in our memories, he isn't really gone. Rest in peace, big man.
  24. Replicas & Miniatures has the wide tank and a package containing two carbs, a stock Harley aircleaner and an S&S air cleaner. Here's the wide tank. I didn't take a picture of the carb package before I used them.
  25. This is a terrible shock. I've known Ricky for years. He is one of the niceset people you could ever meet.
