  1. Very cool. Love the color. Just the right parts mix. Wish I could still find some of the old Imex 1/12th scale Harleys. By the way, young feller, if you've ever ridden a hardtail chopper (I did, many years ago) you would know that you have to have springs on that seat.
  2. I just started an AMT '53 F-100. Hopefully, it will come out half as good as yours. Beautiful work. Love the wheels. Actually,,I love the whole thing!
  3. The resin Lincoln V-12 comes with the block/transmission, a 3-carb intake mainfold, front cover, separate finned heads and separate Fenton headers (modified, with permission, from the V-8 Fenton headers made by Replicas & Miniatures) YOU ADD - carbs, radiator hoses and just about any flathead pully/belt/generator assembly. The resin engine sells for $7.00 from Richard Wilson. Email him at: wilsoncobraguy@comcast.net Put "V-12" or "Lincoln engine" in the email title, so it won't go to spam.
  4. THANKS to all for the very nice comments. Here are some details: The frame was lengthened 1/8th inch just behind the front crossmember/grille support, to make enough room for the engine. The gas tank was removed so the body would channel down over the frame. The half-tarp is simply painted masking tape. The "snaps" are just dots of silver acrylic paint applied with the end of a toothpick. When the paint "dots" dry, I apply it again and again on each dot to make a raised surface. Pretty low-tech, but they look like snaps. Aluminum spreader bar in the front. Rear bumper/nerf bar is silver wire, shaped and attached to frame rails underneath. (No, I don't know what gauge wire it is,,,,it just looks right.) Same wire used on the headlight support bar. The grille was hand painted using acrylic paints. Tailights are '54 Pontiac from the AMT '34 Ford kit. Sidepipes are shortened and came from the old, strangely proportioned Monogram '69 Camaro kit. Scratchbuilt fuel block with red anodized beading wire for fuel lines. Stombergs from a Galaxy '48 Chevy kit. Hairpin radius rods from an original Revell parts pack. Yep, the chrome was still perfect. Brakes from a Revell '40 Ford kit were covered in Bare Metal Foil with the centers painted semi-gloss black. THANKS ONCE AGAIN for the great feedback.

  6. 2 month build time. Channeled Revell roadster body over resin frame from Reps & Mins. Resin V-12 Lincoln engine from Rich Wilson, modified to dual ignition thanks to DAVE LINDSAY's excellent reference photos. Early Halibrand wheels from Historic Racing Miniatures. Revell '40 Ford dash. Modified seats from parts box. All photoetch from The Model Car Garage. Opened trunk with scratchbuilt fuel tank. More pics and details, if you're interested, at the link: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/lyles_mod...rd_street_rods/
  7. I don't know the name of the color but Polly Scale has , at least, 1000 colors. Just look for a very dark gray. I often mix my own P-S color to suite my needs. As mentioned above, slightly lighten some flat black.
  8. I often use a very dark gray when painting tires, especially on black cars. I use Polly Scale acrylic paints for tires.
  9. Bob Korunow (MCG) will be releasing many new items in 2007, including street rod, tuner, and kit-specific stuff. Bob dealt with home repairs from two major hurricanes and then one full year of rather serious medical treatments. But he's 100% back now and really on a roll, heading into his 15th year in business. The rumors of MCG going out of business are completely false. There are some cool items coming. Here's a little tease,,,,,,,,,
  10. Very cool paint . Great job.
  11. Tom, That looks very cool. I'm gonna give you a brake and NOT build one just like it.
  12. Terry, copy all the pictures you want. There are more at the link: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/lyles_mod...les__race_cars/
  13. Mike, go to Dave Lindsay's FOTKI albums. He has over 200,000 car pics. Go to the Chevy engine (or whatever other engine) album. http://public.fotki.com/wackydave/
  14. Cool. Glad you finally got set up. Look out folks, he'll be building now!
  15. The headers were "heat discolored" using Tamiya clear blue and clear yellow.
  16. Terry, See "Reps & Mins Chopper parts" post below.
  17. I rode over to check it out. Nice place, Bill.
  18. Most of you have seen this one, built earlier this year. This one is going on my annual Christmas card (intentionally politically incorrect)
  19. Andy is being modest. ALL of his stuff is worth photographing. I get to see his builds almost every month.
  20. THAT is cool! Great idea.
  21. Beautiful, as always. Congrats on your new house.
  22. Maybe I can talk Norm into resurecting this mold. He discontinued the 41 Ford body when the Revell kit got scarce.
  23. Welcome aboard Gerry! I still want to repay you somehow for the great wheels you sent to me. I think you'll like this board.
  24. AOL does not recognize your email so I couldn't respond. Ron Hamilton's resin Bisqane is resin from Model Car World.
