As seen in the Mock thread...this is the goal. I picked this one up from Ebay. The box said it's an AMT Prestige '69, the instructions say it's a '68. The box contained almost 2 complete kits plus a '98 Corvette. When it arrived, the postal box was damaged and some parts escaped. I let the seller know and she refunded everything but the shipping. the first thing is to liberate the door cards. This allow me to detail them easier. Stay tuned...

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the positive! This was an easy kit to build. Much like the AMT '62 Thunderbird

If I owned a Corvair, this is what I would do. Completely stock, lowered with a cool set of wheels and tires. -
Is done. Thanks for playing along.

The Moebius release of the '52 Hudson Hornet Convertible. I picked this open box kit up at an IPMS meeting a few months back. The previous owner had passed away and his wife donated all of his kits to the club. Since I'm the only car builder in the club, the president handed it over to me. I don't normally build '50's cars but I accepted it anyway. When I got it home and opened up the box. Some key pieces were missing like the engine and convertible boot. And EVERYTHING was half heartedly spray painted black. Knowing this was going to be a challenge, I pushed forward. I stripped the body and sanded away the mold seams. I sprayed the body with Duplicolor Charcoal Grey Metallic. It turns out to be a Chrysler color. Looking at the side panel I immediately thought red for the cavity and matching interior. Since there wasn't an engine, I rifled thru the bone yard and found a HEMI I had cast a few months back. I made the headers from solder and the collectors are aluminum tubing. The exhaust pipes is 12 gauge copper wire. The mufflers are plastic tubing to simulate glaspacks. The exhaust tips are wire ends I got from Amazon. I really like how the whole kit went together. The frame is a little bit warped but I dont think it shows too much. I'll bring it to the next meeting and see if anyone has the boot. Thanks for looking.

Not really sure. Mine is the convertible kit. It comes with a grille and front bumper as separate pieces and the rear has a tail piece with lights and a rear bumper. I used all 4 pieces on mine.

this is a nice kit. Everything goes together so well. Great kits can make a mediocre builder like me look good.

I see quite a bit of orange peel. Keep wet sanding. I like to vary it. Starting with 600, 1200 then 3000. Black is a very tough color to make beautiful. You'll know when you get there. It will look smooth and flat. Be careful at the edges so you dont burn thru.

Smooth as butter. Congrats

Nice tidy build. Great color
